My Pokémon Story of Seasons

Chapter 35 Experience Sharing

"Okay." Tong Hua agreed. After all, it was pouring rain, and she couldn't just kick them out.

"Yay!"

Jessica skipped into the kitchen, sat down without any ceremony, and casually pulled a leather water bottle from her bag, unscrewed the cap, and took a sip.

"Trembling..." Seeing this situation, the most annoyed one was naturally the foam squirrel.

Two ghatis just arrived a couple of days ago, and now a blonde, blue-eyed older sister has appeared...

The foam squirrel's little paws gripped Tong Hua's trouser leg tightly, its tail swishing restlessly, clearly very unhappy with this uninvited guest who had suddenly barged into its home.

Tong Hua noticed the little guy's mood, squatted down and gently rubbed its head, and whispered, "It's okay, Sister Jie is just taking shelter from the rain temporarily."

The foam squirrel pursed its lips and nodded reluctantly, but its eyes remained wary, especially when it saw Jessica grin at it; its tail fur even bristled slightly.

"Oh dear, the little guy doesn't seem to like me very much?" Jessica tilted her head, smiling at the foam squirrel, then pulled a beautifully packaged berry candy from her bag. "Here, this is for you. Do you like sweets?"

The foam squirrel stared at the candy, its nose twitching slightly.

Hmm, it smells sweet, it's its favorite scent. But...

"Chestnut!" It turned its head sharply, indicating that it was rejecting the temptation, but the tip of its tail wagged honestly.

Seeing this, Jessica's smile deepened, and she deliberately shook the candy: "Really don't want it? Then I'll give it to the Grasshopper Turtle?"

"Trembling!" The foam squirrel immediately panicked, leaping past Tong Hua's feet, snatching the candy, and then quickly hiding behind Tong Hua, cautiously unwrapping the candy and stuffing it into its mouth.

"Pfft..." Jessica couldn't help but laugh out loud, "What an easy little guy."

Tong Hua shook her head helplessly, feeling like a silly relative was teasing their own child.

However, this long-lost feeling of liveliness is not bad.

Outside the window, the rain was getting heavier and heavier, with raindrops pattering against the roof and window frame.

"Speaking of which..." Tong Hua suddenly pulled out the planting notebook from the bedside table.

Every night before bed, he would take it out and read it for a while, and write down his income and expenses and a short diary on the blank pages that came with it.

In the past few days, after deducting the expenses for purchasing groceries and including the income from Moo Moo Fresh Milk, Tong Hua's current savings have returned to more than 12 Union Coins.

The original budget for building the Pokémon house and repairing the fence was reduced to zero because Tong Hua personally collected the wood and did all the work himself.

The most likely places to spend money right now are buying new animals and Pokémon, and modernizing the cabin by adding running water and electricity.

Selling the grass carp from the pond might increase my savings by a few thousand.

"This notebook is absolutely stunning! Did Sister Jie really make it all by herself?"

Tong Hua still found it hard to believe that this seemingly carefree older sister could actually make such delicate things.

"Xiao Tong, what do you mean by this?" Jessica suddenly peeked out from behind, her chin almost resting on Tong Hua's shoulder, startling him so much that he nearly threw his notebook away.

"Jie, Sister Jie!" Tong Hua moved to the side, the tips of her ears slightly red. "Why do you walk so quietly?"

Jessica burst out laughing and snatched the notebook away: "What, do I not look like the kind of person who could make something this delicate?"

She opened her notebook and flipped through a few pages at random.

"But I did all of this a few years ago, and it still feels a little embarrassing to look at it now..."

It's like looking back at a diary you wrote when you were an adult; it feels like being publicly executed.

"Back then, I would work in the fields with my grandpa before dawn every day, watering and planting with the Pokémon. It was really fun."

Jessica's gaze softened, and her demeanor changed accordingly.

She, who was originally carefree, now exuded a calm and composed aura.

Tong Hua silently gazed at her. Her healthy wheat-colored skin, well-proportioned figure, and the faint muscle lines visible beneath her clothes made her look like a perfect statue.

This reminded Tong Hua of an old saying: "As still as a virgin, as swift as a rabbit." It couldn't be more accurate to describe Jessica, who possesses both strength and beauty.

After a while, Jessica finally closed her notebook, and Tong Hua finally looked away.

"By the way, little one, what have you planted so far? Let me check how they're growing."

"Uh..." Tong Hua walked to the window and pointed to the farmland outside.

"We didn't plant many potatoes and cabbages, maybe just two bags of seeds."

Jessica walked over and saw that there was a large expanse of lush green fields behind the house.

Jessica squinted, looking through the rain and mist at the farmland, and suddenly exclaimed "Huh!"

"Little Tong, I remember you've only been living here for four or five days, right? How long ago were these seeds planted?"

"This is the fourth day. What's wrong? Is there something wrong with what I planted?"

Tong Hua followed Jessica's gaze and saw that everything in the field seemed normal.

The potato seedlings, half a meter tall, were neatly arranged, and the cabbages near the window had glossy, plump leaves that looked particularly vibrant after being washed by the rain.

"Normally, potatoes and cabbages should mature in about a week. You planted these only four days ago, how come they seem ripe already?"

Did you use some special fertilizer?

As Jessica spoke, she looked at the grass turtle drinking water from its water bottle and the sweet bamboo turtle sleeping on the bed with the big milk pot.

Tong Hua paused for a moment, then suddenly realized: "It's probably thanks to the grass turtle and the sweet bamboo turtle."

They help me water the fields every day. They've been helping since I started cultivating the land, and they spend more time in the fields than I do.

Oh, right, we also borrowed worms to help with clearing the land. Grandpa Yang from Sunshine Ranch said that worms fertilize the soil by eating it and then excreting it.

I think those are the reasons.

After listening to Tong Hua's explanation, Jessica nodded thoughtfully.

"I see, then it's not surprising."

No chemical fertilizers are needed; the plants are grown entirely using the abilities of Pokémon—a very nature-friendly approach.

"I didn't expect you to pick this up so quickly. You truly are a rancher that Grandpa has high hopes for."

Jessica opened the window and stuck her head out.

"Hey, Sister Jie! The rain's going to drift in..."

Before Tong Hua could finish speaking, he was stunned by Jessica's actions.

She braced herself against the window frame with one hand, nimbly flipped over and leaped out, landing steadily on the muddy ridge of the field.

The rain instantly soaked her blonde hair, but she didn't care. She wiped her face and squatted down to carefully examine the crops.

"Sister Jie! Wait a minute!" Tong Hua hurriedly grabbed the umbrella by the door and rushed out.

The foam squirrel was so anxious that it jumped up and down, grabbed the new raincoat that Tong Hua had forgotten by the bed, and rushed into the rain.

"Terrifying!"

Seeing this, the grass turtle quickly put down the water bottle and chased after it with its short legs.

When Tong Hua ran to the edge of the field with an umbrella, Jessica had already picked a cabbage and was weighing it in her hand.

Rain dripped down her chin, and her shirt and jacket clung to her body, yet she smiled radiantly.

"Look, Xiaotong!" She held up the plump cabbage. "Thick leaves and a well-developed root system—this quality will definitely be in high demand!"

Just as Tong Hua was about to speak, he suddenly felt a weight on his back. The foam squirrel nimbly climbed onto his shoulder and angrily pulled the raincoat over his head.

"Thank you." Tong Hua patted the little guy's head, then turned to Jessica and called out, "Let's go back inside first!"

Jessica then noticed that Tong Hua was half-wet from the rain and stuck out her tongue sheepishly. Just as she was about to get up, she suddenly slipped.

"Be careful!"

At the critical moment, the grass-fed tortoise suddenly shot out several vines, which tightly wrapped around Jessica's wrists. Tong Hua didn't even bother to open his umbrella anymore, and rushed forward to grab her arm.

"Splash!"

The three of them still ended up tumbling together, but thankfully no one fell into the field.

Tong Hua's clothes were completely ruined; the mud and water splattered on them would probably be very difficult to clean.

The grass turtles seemed to thrive in the mud, even rolling around in it when they couldn't turn over. The foamy squirrels, on the other hand, clung tightly to their cabbages, floating in the puddle like they were holding onto a lifebuoy.

"Hahaha!" Jessica suddenly burst into laughter, patting Tong Hua's shoulder with her mud-covered hands. "Now that's more like farming!"

Looking at his own muddy and miserable state, and then at the equally disheveled Pokémon in his arms, Tong Hua couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Chicken! Tear!" The foam squirrel waved its little paws angrily, but paused when it saw Tong Hua's smile. In the end, it gave up and used the cabbage on its head as an umbrella.

The group laughed and joked around in the rain for a while before returning to the cabin.
