Chapter 626 Wolverine Awakens

"I thought we were compatriots—" Andrei was somewhat disappointed, but seeing the unfriendly looks from the others, he had no choice but to give up on keeping them in suspense. "Alright, alright, I'll tell you, I'll tell you."

"Actually, it's because someone has angered the God-King—although we don't know who angered him, the Great Doom did issue a conscription order to all the lords."

Rune understood; this was almost certainly what he had been worried about—the Forsaken had invaded this world, and it seemed the invaders were quite powerful, otherwise Doom wouldn't have needed to summon all the lords.

Doom's current mood is certainly not as cautious as it was back then. He has become the de facto ruler of an entire world. If he could easily deal with the invaders who offended him, then Doom would not have made such a fuss.

In other words, among that group of Forsaken, at least one person's strength is roughly equivalent to that of God-King Doom, and Rune admits that he is not in a position to deal with Doom in his current state.

In the comics, Doom was able to fight Black Panther, who wielded the Infinity Gauntlet. In the end, the two were practically exchanging blows using only their concepts. Rune, on the other hand, has not yet fought an enemy of this caliber, so he doesn't know who is stronger between himself and Doom.

Moreover, Rune wasn't willing to come into this world with great fanfare and then raise his arms to shout "Destroy the tyranny of Doom and save human civilization!" He wasn't that ungrateful.

At least under Doom's rule, these essences from various universes continued to evolve their own stories. The God-King did not intervene; instead, he enacted laws for these lords, requiring them not to attack each other.

While other heroes succumbed to despair and suffering, it was God-King Doom who saved the world from the hands of the transcendent gods. He deserved his due reward, and the Battle Realm was his reward.

Moreover, Rune needs Lord Doom and the beings behind him to fight against the Forsaken.

Andrei continued to explain, "It is precisely because most lords are tightening their military forces that we have been able to contact mutants like you. We have been waiting for this opportunity. We want you to know that we have never abandoned our compatriots."

"Would you like to come with me?"

In the end, Andrei extended an olive branch to Judd and Esley. His idea was very straightforward: if the two girls were willing to come with him, Logan would probably be willing to return to his hometown as well.

Rune could also see that Andre genuinely believed this was good for all mutants; he loved his homeland from the bottom of his heart. However, he still had to interrupt.

"I think we should wait until Logan wakes up before discussing this," Rune said. "They are, after all, Logan's daughters, aren't they?"

"Oh yes, I'm so sorry," Andrei scratched his head, trying to ease his embarrassment.

Rune then came to his rescue, saying, "Why don't you introduce your homeland to others? After all, even if you really want Asri and Judd to come with you, you should at least introduce your own country beforehand to pique the interest of these two little girls, right?"

Andrei suddenly realized what was going on, and then pulled the two little girls aside to talk about the benefits of Krakor. Rune, meanwhile, leisurely took the Nightmare Orb out of his heart. His robe, woven from shadows, concealed the process of his heart blooming, so it didn't frighten the children.

But the appearance of the Nightmare Orb still attracted the attention of many people, but they all seemed to see their own nightmares in it, so they quickly looked away.

Walking up to Logan, Rune began to study the uses of this multiverse artifact. He hadn't been able to settle down and study magic for a long time, so he naturally wanted to find some time to delve into it.

As for whether the old wolf next to him would have nightmares—that was not a concern for Rune.

Judd asked questions much less frequently, but each one challenged Andrei's worldview. For example, when he mentioned that Krakow was a parliamentary system, Judd asked him, "In your country, do members of parliament take turns serving?"

"Of course not!" Andrei replied. In fact, the parliament could indeed be expanded, for example, by including several Professor Xs.

Magneto, the White Queen, and other mutants entered the council, but—

Andrei talked for a long time, but by the end, even he didn't know what he was saying. Aislie's incessant chatter was already exhausting, and Judd's soul-searching questions would be the final blow.

In the end, he was practically reciting what was taught in the textbook. Fortunately, something interrupted Andrei's narration, bringing him back to reality from what could be described as endless torture.

"Jean, Judd, Esley!" Logan roared, his eyes snapping open. His chest heaved violently, and he was breathing rapidly, clearly having just had a nightmare.

Feeling somewhat guilty, Rune placed the Nightmare Orb back into the position of his heart.

Logan propped himself up, looking around blankly, muttering to himself, "This place—it looks so familiar. Is this heaven or hell?"

He still felt the excruciating pain of dying alongside his crossbones, but the illusory figures of his family and friends surrounding him were gone.

Just then, he caught a glimpse of two familiar figures standing not far away—Jard and Ashley.

Seeing Logan wake up, the two little girls ran over happily, but Logan's eyes suddenly turned sharp, and a strange anger surged in his chest. "You are not my daughters!"

He clearly believed that after his death, his daughters also met with misfortune, and that this place was nothing more than an illusion woven by hell.
