Chapter 627 Undercurrents, War is Imminent
After a long explanation, Logan finally calmed down and put Ashley down, who was already crying.
In front of so many people, he couldn't just pull down Aisley's pants and spank her, so he could only do it through the cloth. But with his strength—it didn't really matter whether she had pants or not.
After the beating, Ashley glared at Judd. She hadn't even tried to stop Logan from spanking her; were they still best friends? What happened to GHG?
Judd rolled her eyes. Did she not finish saying the important thing first, but instead try to persuade her father not to hit her?
Aisley deserves a beating!
After finishing the fight, Logan turned to Andrei. Since Andrei was his savior, his attitude softened considerably. "I'm very grateful for your help. Judd has told me everything. What I need to do next—it's definitely not suitable for them to come with us, so it's time to find them a home—"
As he spoke, Logan looked at Rune, wanting to ask for his opinion.
Rune remained noncommittal, only asking, "What are you going to do next?"
"I've figured something out. The reason I've been living such a muddled life is actually for one purpose." Logan looked at his two daughters with a complicated expression.
Although one of them was his own flesh and blood and the other was just his friend's child, Logan never showed favoritism—Acely was just too naughty, except for getting beaten up.
He had developed a deep bond with the two children, and his sudden departure left Logan somewhat bewildered.
Logan found it hard to imagine himself without children, or without his own children, but this was the only way he could sleep peacefully, and also to comfort the souls of those heroes.
Logan believed their spirits were watching him closely. "I'm going to kill Red Skull and end this. What about you?"
Logan looked at Rune and asked, "Do you have your own goals?"
"My goal?" Rune said matter-of-factly, "I want my universe to survive the upcoming multiverse catastrophe."
“No,” Logan stood up, looking at the setting sun in the distance, “I can see that you have no goal.”
"I—" Rune wanted to refute, but looking at the man who had regained Wolverine's will, he was speechless.
"Trust me, trust the wisdom of an old man. I can tell from birth that you're just like me when I was young," Logan said softly. "Always indulging in reckless behavior, letting yourself follow your desires, naturally brings happiness and joy—"
"But this is actually an illusion, Rune. You don't have your own goals, which makes you so empty that you've lost your direction."
Logan wanted to say something more, but his stomach rumbled.
Rune laughed out loud, "Alright, alright, before you lecture me, let's have a good meal first."
When he said that, Ashley and Judd's eyes lit up. They knew how delicious the food Rune brought was, and they excitedly told Logan about it, wanting to share their joy with him.
But Andrei and the mutants behind him were in an awkward position. They stood there, looking at each other, somewhat at a loss.
Rune glanced back at the guys behind him and rolled his eyes.
"Come in and eat with us!"
Andrei sighed, turned to look at his three companions, and asked, "Shall we go?"
"Walk!"
They were hungry too.
The original land has been completely transformed by towering metal buildings and dark purple energy pipelines.
In the dimly lit main control room, a huge holographic projection occupied half of the wall, flashing a map showing the distribution of all the territories of the Battle Realm. Red markings, like a spreading virus, densely covered all areas.
On the ground, countless mechanical tentacles and engineering robots are operating in an orderly manner, welding and assembling brand-new mechanical soldiers.
"Inefficiency, greed, destructiveness—that's the essence of humanity." A cold, synthesized electronic voice echoed in the empty control room as Ultron's electronic brain received information from the reconnaissance robots.
Fragments of war, resource plunder, and hedonistic pleasures kept flooding his mind.
Humanity continues to repeat the same old path over the centuries on this land called the Battle Realm, which only strengthens Ultron's resolve to destroy all of humanity.
Behind him, several gigantic creatures, clearly much larger than Ultron, were kneeling.
"I just don't understand, why don't you just lead us straight to the heart of the enemy?" a robot covered in dark purple heavy armor asked respectfully. "Those weak and pathetic creatures have no idea who they are fighting against. They can't even fully witness the unfolding of His magnificent body—"
Ultron turned his head, looked at the robot, and sneered.
"I'm afraid you don't yet know the dangers of this world. You do possess the great power bestowed upon you by that being, but with such recklessness, I fear that one day He will be utterly disappointed in you."
Then, Ultron turned back to the present, saying, "That so-called God-King Doom is nothing but a false god! I already tested his strength long ago."
Those red markers were deliberately converging on a certain place in the Battle Realm, proving that Doom was deploying his troops. However, he was unaware that this move of his own had exposed his weakness to Ultron.
Even so, Ultron would never underestimate his opponents. He had to be fully prepared. Doom was not to be feared, but the heroes were quite formidable. With the support of their beliefs, they might unleash even more terrifying power than usual.
If the true god behind them witnessed their heroic deeds and bestowed his power upon these damned heroes, then things would be very serious.
"Then why—"
"Because there's a true god behind this. Have I made myself clear enough?" Ultron walked up to the robot and coldly replied, "I know your ambitions, Galvatron. I know what you're thinking!"
"You don't want that person to come to this universe, but let me tell you, I'm not at ease without him as my last resort! This multiverse is incredibly powerful. In its heyday, I didn't even have the courage to look at it, but now it's weak and helpless, which is why I'm targeting it."
Ultron's eyes were filled with a threatening look. "But even so, I'm still not confident of victory, and you, you actually overheard a few words from other members of the organization, and based on that little bit of information, you so rashly come to question me—"
"I don't----"
"That's why He chose me and not you!" Ultron interrupted Galvatron's explanation, speaking with a cold laugh that struck right to the heart. Galvatron could only lower his head and no longer look directly at his nominal leader.
But his bloodshot eyes were already filled with hatred.
