Chapter 596 Hero Saves the Beauty? Hero Saves the Hero!
"No wonder you can never overthrow Black Bolt's rule," Corvus Glaive began to mock Maximus.
This statement hit Maximus's sore spot. As a member of the Inhuman royal family and Black Bolt's brother, Maximus gained telepathic abilities through the Terrigen Mist from a young age.
Actually, this is already quite good within the Inhuman race. At least he didn't turn into a strange creature because of the Terrigen Mist, but comparisons are the worst thing.
His brother Black Bolt possessed the terrifying power to destroy an entire city with a mere whisper, and was established as the leader of the Inhumans from a young age, which fueled Maximus's intense jealousy.
Maximus believed he possessed genius-level intelligence and mind control abilities, making him more suitable to rule than the patient and restrained Black Bolt. Therefore, he launched several coups to challenge authority and even successfully coerced Black Bolt to abdicate, but in the end, he always failed.
Therefore, the word "Black Bolt" is absolutely a word that Maximus should not mention.
"Ha, at least I'm loyal to the Inhumans, unlike you," Maximus sneered. "You traitor! If I were that Titan, I would have broken your blade and crushed your soul right now!"
Seeing that infighting was about to break out within the evil camp, Thanos raised his left hand. "Don't make a fool of yourself in front of Steve. At least we know that this path to the other multiverses is related to a guy named Rune."
Maximus snorted coldly; he had managed to get Steve to say it when he wasn't paying attention.
However, just as Thanos uttered the name Rune, he felt something watching him. The Mad Titan whirled around, looking everywhere, shouting, "Who's there? Show yourself!"
While others were still wondering, a spatial rift suddenly tore open in the central cabin of the Doomsday Ark, and dark red magic spread everywhere.
At that moment, Steve looked up because—it seemed to be something familiar.
It's Rune!
This powerful dark mage shattered the void and arrived directly in front of everyone.
The air inside the ark instantly froze. This ship was able to withstand the residual power of the cosmic annihilation, but they still dared not clash with this newly appeared outsider, for fear of affecting the operation of this sophisticated instrument.
However, Rune's gaze did not linger on any of the members of the Dark Order, nor did he pay any attention to Reed, whose head was deformed and resembled an alien.
He walked barefoot across the cold metal floor, leaving a trail of footprints that looked like burning black flames, until he finally stood before Steve.
"Steve—" Rune said softly, "I'm really glad you're still alive."
Steve forced a smile. "I'm happy too. How are Stark and the others?"
"They are all doing well. Stark personally arranged your funeral, Clark always wanted to carry on your legacy, and there are many others who miss you dearly—"
Rune spoke casually, but his fingers, hanging by his side, slowly curled up, his nails digging into his palms. The dark magic that had been swirling around him due to excessive excitement had now transformed into a surging wave of black mist, engulfing everything around him.
The overhead lights shattered before they even touched the black mist, and in the darkness, the two red lights in Rune's eyes shone brightly.
"Outsider, this is not a place for you to run wild! This is—" Thanos warned in a deep voice, but before he could finish speaking, he saw Rune raise his hand.
Standing behind Steve, Proxima Midnight, who was in charge of guarding the hero, let out a scream. The spear in her hand, forged by Thanos himself, suddenly exploded, and the scorching molten metal backlash instantly engulfed her in flames.
After dealing with the bastard, Rune turned around, his self-illuminating light sweeping over the members of the Dark Order, his eyes filled with pure destructive lust. "Who did this?"
The power emanating from Rune is corroding the ship's impenetrable defensive barrier, and the frigid cold of outer space seeps in through the gaps.
As the lover of Proxima Midnight, and wielding a blade that could house his soul and thus resurrect infinitely, Corvus Glaive could no longer bear the oppressive atmosphere in the cabin. He roared and charged towards Rune with his strange spear.
However, Rune didn't even glance at this powerful weapon capable of cutting through vibranium.
The spear aimed straight for the mage's heart, but it was firmly enveloped by dark magic when it was about a meter away from Rune. No matter how hard he tried, he could not advance an inch. In fact, the spear was twisting in the general's horrified gaze.
Snapped!
Finally, the spear shattered completely with a crisp sound. The dark magic, now freed from its corrosive medium, immediately followed the scattered fragments into the body of the Deathblade General, and then began to devour everything.
After wailing for a few seconds, the powerful assassin, who looked like a goblin, completely lost the ability to speak. A mere dozen seconds later, he turned into a pile of bones and lay on the ground.
Maximus attempted to invade Rune's consciousness with his mental power, but he felt as if he had crashed into an impenetrable wall. His mental power was instantly repelled, and blood gushed from his mouth and nose.
After holding it in for a while, the strange man could no longer contain himself and vomited a pool of blood. He then collapsed to the ground, completely losing his fighting ability.
Black Swan's eyes shot out fiery red beams of light, but Rune's eyes also shot out two thin, long, crimson lines. One was as thick as a finger, while the other was as thin as a hair. It seemed that the former was clearly overwhelming the latter, but in the end, it was the former that was blasted away.
bump!
The black swan crashed to the floor, screaming and covering its eyes. Even though Rune had only casually unleashed a magical shock as if it were an ant, it still rendered the villain incapacitated.
Under his hands, Black Swan's eyes and the area around them were burned with large wounds. If not treated properly, she might become completely blind.
With these precedents in mind, the remaining villains also became more cautious.
"I asked, who inflicted the wounds on Steve?" Rune repeated his question again. "Step forward now, or I'll have to search your memories myself."
Faced with the questioning of this unknown powerful figure, the only one who was relatively honest was Namor, who raised his hands and said, "I did not hurt Steve."
"Traitor!" the tyrant roared.
Namor was one of the few people present who had a connection with Captain America, so he was usually the one to play the bad cop, while the good cop was naturally someone else's responsibility.
"Did I tell you to speak?" Rune looked at the guy who had spoken.
The next moment, the tyrant felt an immense weight pressing down on his shoulders, and his originally ashen face immediately turned bright red from the exertion.
This guy wants me to kneel before him! The tyrant glared at Rune, trying to struggle, but after Rune clicked his tongue, the villain felt the burden on his shoulders instantly increase.
With a thud, the tyrant fell to his knees, a pool of blood splattering beneath his knees—the excessive weight had broken his leg bones.
Rune didn't even bother to give him a glance, only leaving him with a single sentence.
"You were willing to grovel before Galactus, so why can't you kneel before me?"
The tyrant's eyes instantly turned crimson—
