Chapter 597 The Death of Thanos

The purplish-black spacetime rifts have begun to spread like a spider web outside the portholes. The collision between the ultimate universe and the main universe has reached a critical juncture. Countless planets are disintegrating into stardust in the rifts, and even light is being mercilessly swallowed.

Thanos also realized that if he allowed Rune to continue to act arbitrarily on this warship, they would probably all eventually become victims of this multiverse crisis.

"Enough!" Thanos roared, his face grim. "This ship is an escape pod to protect us as we flee this multiverse crisis—"

"Hmph, I also know a Mad Titan," Rune said with a cold laugh, ignoring the previous comment. "And that Thanos, because of his love of death, ultimately chose suicide. What about you?"

Rune continued to approach Thanos, his voice low and cold, "I thought you, from the main universe, that madman who claimed to be cleaning up the universe for death, would burn yourself in the apocalypse—"

"Instead of cowering in this metal shell like a frightened rat, barely clinging to life, tell me, why did you choose to live on?"

"Ignorant fool, you have no idea about my bond with death." Rune's question made Thanos frown. He realized that this dark sorcerer knew him very well, while he himself knew very little about this sorcerer, not to mention the other's power—

He glanced at Tyrant Tyros behind Rune, the rock-skinned fellow who had been the brutal ruler of Lanark, later chosen by Galactus and empowered by cosmic energy, yet even so, he knelt before this mage—

Thanos himself did not possess artifacts such as the Infinity Stones or the Heart of Judgment, so he believed he could not stop Rune's advance.

"To preserve myself is not to eke out a living. This catastrophe in the multiverse is not what I wanted; it is disordered and chaotic, and cannot be offered as a sacrifice to death. I need to wait for the right moment to offer her the grandest ritual with orderly destruction—" Thanos replied, and began to stall for time.

As long as we can endure this period, until all things perish—

"What a ridiculous excuse!" Rune flashed forward, throwing a punch at Thanos's face. "Ordered destruction? That's nothing but a fig leaf to cover your cowardice!"

Thanos crossed his arms in front of him, and a light purple energy shield appeared on the surface of his armor. The punch struck the shield, producing a piercing roar, and energy ripples spread out before shattering in front of Titan's astonished gaze.

He did not underestimate Rune; the shield was made of cosmic energy and was almost indestructible.

However, this energy shield was not without its uses; at least it bought Thanos time to evade.

"What do you know!" Thanos dodged, then roared and threw a punch, the fist, imbued with terrifying power, slamming into Rune with a whooshing sound. "You fool who has never experienced death, you can't possibly understand my devotion to it!"

Rune snorted and easily dodged the punch. His purple fist slammed into the metal hull of the Ark, making a loud noise. The hull instantly caved in, and cracks spread out.

Upon seeing this scene, the Creator immediately fled. It wasn't that he thought the battle between the two monsters could destroy the spaceship used to defend against the annihilation forces of the universe, but the internal instruments, equipment, and energy sources might explode due to the aftershocks of the battle.

Rune didn't care about the creator's movements. He simply took advantage of Thanos's attempt to pull his fist out of the dent in the bulkhead and kicked him in the side.

Although it was rushed, the power contained in this kick was enough to shatter mountains. Thanos reacted extremely quickly. He had faced countless powerful beings and fought countless wars in the universe, but he was always the ultimate victor!

He strained his waist muscles to withstand the impact of the kick, then groaned as he was knocked to the ground. However, he grabbed Rune's ankle and tried to throw him away.

But when he exerted his strength, Thanos felt as if he were not struggling against a flesh and blood body, but trying to push the sun.

Rune sneered and exerted force again, crushing the mad Titan under his feet.

Thanos grunted, a trickle of purple blood spilling from the corner of his mouth, but he still didn't let go. Instead, he gripped Karl's ankle even tighter, and his other fist slammed into Karl's vital area with furious force.

It was definitely a dirty trick, but so what if it was? As long as we win!

However, Rune was completely unprepared for this move and allowed Thanos's fist to strike him. At the same time, the dark magic within him instantly flowed into Thanos's body through Rune.

Hit!

Thanos sneered, but soon his smile vanished.

Rune's entire body had been torn apart by the terrifying power of the black hole, and he had long since lost the weaknesses that ordinary people possess.

Therefore, in the Mad Titan's perception, it was as if he had hit a piece of adamantium, which was completely illogical!

Then, a terrifying energy surged from the soles of the opponent's feet—

It seemed to have its own will, and began to slowly devour its own body.

"Get out of my way!" Thanos could no longer tolerate it, so he chose to release cosmic energy directly, sending Rune flying.

Rune landed lightly on the ground, his expression calm.

Thanos managed to stand up, clutching his chest with his left hand, using cosmic energy to suppress the dark magic that was trying to devour his body. This magic clashed with the energy within Thanos's body, eventually exploding and creating a large hole in the Mad Titan's chest.

"Who exactly are you?"

"I am Rune, a nobody," the dark mage replied with a sneer. "Well, are you satisfied?"

Thanos was taken aback for a moment, then burst into laughter, "Heh—heh heh, hahaha—"

He never expected that the key to other multiverses was actually a powerful mage that even he himself could not defeat!

Thanos glanced at Steve, a sense of absurdity washing over him. Even if Captain America revealed the truth, what difference would it make? Could he possibly defeat Rune?

As if seeing through Thanos's doubts, Steve, panting, said with a smile, "If I tell you the truth—then what value do I have to you?"

Rune walked up to Thanos. "Any last words?"

"That's it—" Thanos grinned maliciously as he threw his final punch. If it meant death, he would rather die in the battle.

Rune also punched him, but unlike his previous punitive attacks, this time he was serious.

Thanos is the leader of the Black Order, and he is definitely the culprit who harmed Steve. If he had chosen to kill Steve directly, then Rune wouldn't have said anything.

That was Steve's own choice; Thanos was merely the one who fulfilled Steve's wishes. But he shouldn't have captured and tortured him, so Rune decided to grant him death.

With this punch, Rune's terrifying power, carrying a large amount of dark magic, shattered Thanos's fist. Under the effect of the Devouring Magic, the dark magic, along with the shattered flesh and blood, directly poured into the heart of this mad Titan.

Previously, Thanos was able to use cosmic energy to contend with the runes' limited dark magic, but this time he couldn't even dream of it; his flesh and heart—all of them—became nourishment for the runes.

thump!

This purple, mad titan has finally fallen.
