Chapter 103, First Update: An Uninvited Guest During the Holiday
Qiu Zhang looked stunned, clearly not expecting such a scene to unfold.
However, trusting Dolly, she nodded and accepted the business card.
Mr. Zhang nodded and said politely, "Then I must thank you for your gift. I will prepare a Christmas present for you when I get back."
Although he was all smiles, anyone could tell that it was just a way of coaxing a child.
Dolly didn't mind and waved to Cho Chang.
Qiu Zhang then bid farewell to everyone and was the first to leave the crowd with his father.
"He doesn't seem very approachable?"
Hermione went to Dolly's side and muttered something under her breath.
Dolly shrugged and said, "I didn't expect to get along with him much. This is just part of my friendship with Akihiro."
Hermione looked at Dolly in surprise, then whispered, "So, do I also need to get along well with your mom and dad?"
Dolly smiled and said, "But aren't you already on good terms with them?"
Hermione was taken aback, then realized that Dolly was right.
When she greeted Penny and Vernon, she received polite hugs from both of them and even a Christmas gift from the Dursleys.
Although the two families had only been friends for less than six months, Hermione was already a regular guest of the Dursleys.
"Dolly, it's not enough to just give Mr. Zhang a Christmas present."
At this point, Vernon spoke up, jokingly but in a way that taught his daughter not to show favoritism.
"Hermione's parents must be really looking forward to your gift, right, Dolly?"
Dolly didn't answer. Mrs. Granger had already come over, taken Dolly's wrist, and said with a smile, "I thought you knew that Dolly had also given us Christmas presents, Vernon. Your daughter is more lovable than you think."
Vernon looked surprised; he genuinely knew nothing about this.
Not only did Vernon not know, but even Hermione didn't know.
Hermione pointed at Dolly, her mouth agape, looking completely incredulous.
Dolly winked at Hermione before saying, "They're just some regular magical candies, and I added a little flair with Transfiguration. They're not worth much."
"But this is the most heartwarming Christmas gift we've ever received."
Mr. Granger also spoke up, even taking out a beautifully packaged glass gift box.
Inside are four lifelike figures made of candy, complete with little gestures, representing the Granger family, plus their visiting friend Dolly.
It was as if Dolly was joining the Granger family in this way.
"Dolly, I'm curious, how long can they move? Can they be preserved indefinitely?"
Mrs. Granger looked down and asked, and Dolly shook her head and said, "Unfortunately, I'm not good at immobilization charms yet; they can only move for a few days."
"But next year, perhaps I can create a small gift that can keep moving forever."
"Then I'll be looking forward to that day."
Mrs. Granger gave Dolly a hug, and Dolly gently hugged her shoulder in return.
This harmonious scene made Hermione feel like an outsider.
Hermione didn't realize what was happening until Mr. Granger winked at her.
She quickly opened the package and gave Vernon and Penny the two bags of candy she had prepared to take home. Blushing, she said, "These are Christmas presents for you. The owls were too busy, so I didn't have time to deliver them."
Vernon and Petunia exchanged a glance, then burst into laughter and accepted the gift, without revealing Hermione's intentions.
Ultimately, it was Dolly who went too far in this matter, exceeding the scope of what a junior wizard could handle, so it's understandable that Hermione couldn't keep up.
Meanwhile, over there was Harry, completely bewildered, who was utterly unprepared.
As for the snacks and candies he bought on the train, they had long been devoured by Ron and his friends, leaving him with nothing of note.
Just as Harry was feeling incredibly embarrassed, Vernon spoke up: "Would you like to come over to our house first? Petunia has prepared a big meal."
The Grangers politely declined, and then said their goodbyes.
Unlike the last time when the two families took the Knight Bus, this time both families drove.
It wasn't until they got in the car that Dolly said, "Harry, you don't need to think so much. It's unnecessary for children to give gifts to adults, especially since we don't theoretically have the ability to earn money yet."
"And what about you? Haven't you already done it?"
Harry couldn't help but ask, and Dolly replied matter-of-factly, "I'm just trying to make Hermione's parents happy, since you two don't even know each other."
Harry was speechless. What he said seemed to make sense, but something still felt off.
“Harry, you don’t need to follow Dolly’s example. She has a little bit of ability… It’s okay to tell him, right?”
Vernon saw Dolly nod in the mirror before saying, "It's probably the ability to predict some stock market trends."
"The stocks she recommends are actually the main source of income for our family, which is why she can spend so much money at will. You can just be your younger brother."
Harry nodded, then touched his face, somewhat embarrassed and annoyed.
Before he arrived, Hagrid told him not to tell the Dursleys about his family's assets. Wasn't that a bit too disrespectful?
Let's find an opportunity to bring this up.
Along the way, Petunia showed concern for Dolly and Harry, while Dolly enthusiastically recounted every detail of Hogwarts.
Since Dolly and Harry didn't go to the same house, Harry also had his own topics to discuss.
From the academy style to favorite courses, to friends and Quidditch.
Of course, following Dolly's instructions to Harry, he skipped over all the topics about the dangers of Hogwarts, Quirrell, and Snape.
After they got home and finished the big meal that Penny had prepared, they continued chatting while watching soap operas on TV. By the end, Harry felt his mouth was numb.
But he had never been so happy, not even happier than at the Christmas party with his classmates at Hogwarts.
After all, classmates and family are different. Even though Harry is young, he knows that not everything is appropriate to say to his classmates.
However, it's different with family. Even if Harry tells embarrassing stories about himself, he doesn't need to feel ashamed. As for the Vernons, they've seen all of Harry's stories, from head to toe.
Of course, at this point Dolly's laughter would be quite unrestrained, and she would stop Vernon and Petunia from telling her embarrassing stories, which Harry felt was unfair.
However, as the younger brother and a man, Harry felt that he should indeed give way to Dolly in this regard.
At 10 p.m., Harry climbed into bed and went to sleep.
In his sleep, he dreamed of the Mirror of Erised again, but this time, the Dursleys were among the family members reflected in the mirror.
Unlike the illusory reflection in the mirror, they can actually interact with Harry.
Whether it was Vernon's manly guidance, Petunia's carefully prepared food, or his sister Dolly, who was always more perfect and better than him, everything made Harry smile from ear to ear.
When he came to his senses, the Mirror of Erised had disappeared, and Harry opened his eyes, ready to greet the new day.
The Dursleys' family was unique; they didn't have many relatives.
Vernon has an older sister, Maggie, but Maggie has her own family and doesn't visit the Dursleys every holiday.
Penny, on the other hand, was all alone, so the Dursleys' Christmas was relatively quiet.
Dolly and Harry had already made plans to go sightseeing in London today, even though at this time of year, shops outside of Chinatown are basically closed.
Kodori could also take this opportunity to visit Chinatown, "discover" her love for Chinese food, and openly change her taste habits from then on.
Just as the family was about to leave, a young man in a suit rang the doorbell.
Vernon opened the door in confusion, looked at the person in front of him, and asked, "Who are you?"
"Hello, Mr. Dursley."
“I am Bill Weasley, Ron Weasley’s brother, who is Harry’s dormitory roommate and your daughter’s friend.”
"but me……"
Bill pulled out a box of Chocolate Frogs and handed it to Vernon, saying, "He's also a wizard, now working as an unraveler in Gringotts."
Vernon didn't take the chocolate frog. Instead, he looked at Bill warily and said, "I don't care who you are. Now get out of my room and go outside."
"If I confirm your identity, I will let you in; otherwise, I will call the police immediately."
"Now, back off!"
Bill was taken aback by Vernon's attitude, his eyes filled with incomprehension and even a hint of anger.
However, he was, after all, a Gryffindor from the Weasley family, and finally nodded, taking a few steps back until he stood outside the yard.
Vernon then closed and locked the door, grabbed the baseball bat hanging behind the door, and said, "Dolly, Harry, do you know someone named Bill Weasley? He claims to be a wizard, Ron's brother!"
Even if Vernon knew he was no match for a wizard, he would do everything in his power to protect his children if his daughter and Harry answered that they didn't know each other.
Dolly and Harry were stunned by Vernon's words, with Dolly looking particularly serious.
If the person outside really is Bill, it's not surprising that he was able to find this place, considering that Ron was also able to find it.
However, this matter can be either a big deal or a small deal.
On a smaller scale, it's just a regular gathering of relatives and friends.
To put it more bluntly, it was a wizard who came knocking on Harry's door while he was away from school.
This would set a very bad example, enough to show those unscrupulous dark wizards that they can follow suit.
It seems necessary to set up some simple defensive magic around the home.
As Dolly thought this, she walked to the door, looked through the peephole at the people outside, and said, "Harry and I don't know Bill, we only know Ron."
“But Harry, you can use some questions to prove his identity, preferably secrets that only Ron’s family would know.”
In fact, Dolly had already recognized the person as Bill.
As for whether the other party might be someone impersonating someone who had taken the compound decoction, Dolly felt it was unlikely.
Even if she were to transform, she should transform into someone Dolly knows, even if it's just some random passerby on this street.
Bill is normally still working in Egypt right now, so wouldn't it be asking for trouble if he were the one to take over?
Of course, Dolly was also prepared to take action, showing no mercy if she sensed anything amiss with the other party.
