Night Journey
Chapter 83 Plan
Chapter 83 Plan
"Is that so?"
Cillian looked Elton over again, surprised that he thought that way.
"call……"
Elton let out a long sigh and forced a smile. "Come to think of it, Cillian, you're not a bad guy. I hope you live a long life."
"I try my best."
Elton was preoccupied; it was unclear whether it was a lingering feeling from that night or a long-buried secret.
Cillian didn't mind; everyone has their own secrets, big or small. He simply learned a little more about Elton through this conversation.
A commotion arose outside the city garrison, drawing everyone's attention. A group of reporters swarmed in.
Fortunately, compared to last time, they were much more orderly this time, queuing up obediently at the bottom of the steps outside the city sanitation bureau, each with a notebook and a camera in hand.
Cillian asked疑惑地, "What are you trying to do?"
"The recent series of events has caused widespread panic in the city. The bureau chief needs to step forward and take a stand to reassure the public."
Meifuni said mysteriously, "I just don't know where the director intends to steer the conflict... I guess it'll most likely be the Chaos Cultists."
The world is in a state of madness and disorder, but sometimes this actually benefits the city-state councilors.
No matter what troubles they encounter, as long as they throw the problem at the Chaos believers, everyone can always reach a consensus.
Chaos is an absolute crisis that transcends factions, ignores interests, and is not limited by class.
Cillian and the others arrived at the gate and waited quietly for the performance to begin.
Shortly after, Decal slowly walked down from the second floor.
He looked much more haggard; a series of devastating events had come crashing down on him, leaving the bureau chief in a state of utter misery.
Every night before Cirien left, the light in his office would always be on.
"Director DeKarl, may I ask..."
"About the Reverse Falcon..."
The chatter went on and on, and Dekar's brow furrowed more and more, the veins on his arms bulging.
Faced with these endless questions, De Karl's patience was running out. He took a deep breath and, relying on his limited self-control, spoke calmly.
"Regarding the incident that everyone is concerned about, the City Guard Bureau is investigating, and the City Council is also discussing the related issues..."
The familiar official answer, word for word.
I thought I'd find something new, but it turned out to be just this kind of thing.
Cillian turned to leave, but at that moment, Dekar's tone suddenly took on a hint of emotion.
"One thing is certain: the city council will never allow any power that transcends order to rise above the city of Hel."
Decal repeated what he had said in the council chamber.
"Even a reverse falcon won't do."
After saying this, De Karl turned and left, giving the reporters no time to react.
A moment later, a commotion arose.
Cillian looked in the direction Dekar had left, puzzled. After several attempts, he realized that Dekar harbored a strange hostility towards the Reverse Falcon.
To be precise, the entire city council utterly despised the Rebel Falcon.
"Do you know why the bureau chief had that attitude?"
Mephoni suddenly popped out from beside Cillian; she loved gossip, even about Dekar.
What are your thoughts?
As Cillian spoke, he pulled Mefuni aside.
"Do you know how to beg me now?"
Meifuni spoke in a condescending tone.
Cillian turned and walked away, saying, "Fine, don't tell me then."
"Oh, no, no!"
Mefuni quickly grabbed him, complaining, "Cillian, you're such a lovable guy."
"Then I should leave even more!"
Cillian took a few more steps, dragging Mefuni along with him.
"Alright, alright! I'll talk!"
Mefuni had had enough. Cillian was completely unresponsive; no amount of flirting worked on him.
"It is said that when Reverse Falcon was active, he not only hunted down Chaos believers, but also hanged several city-state councilors and carried out rounds of internal purges."
"During that period, Hull City was completely under the rule of the Reverse Falcon," Meifuni said, feigning exaggeration.
"and then?"
"Then..."
Mefuni leaned close to Cillian's ear and whispered something in a very low voice.
"At the end of the Reverse Falcon's active period, he hanged a city councilor who was the director's father."
Cillian clenched his fists instinctively, then relaxed them.
“I see,” he murmured. “Now everything makes sense.”
For the development of Hel City, the existence of the Reverse Falcon undoubtedly played a very positive role, but for the true rulers, it was just a madman who could attack them at any time.
After figuring all this out, Cillian's expression turned awkward.
The real Reverse Falcon has long since disappeared, and Cillian is a copycat. He needs to stir up more trouble before the City Guard notices anything amiss, ideally directly provoking a full-scale war between the City Guard and the Claws.
What happens after it's done?
Assuming his plan is executed perfectly, the City Guard Bureau and the Claws go to war, and he seeks an opportunity to hunt down the Claws' leader and pry information about the crimson sun out of him.
Cillian was unsure of the situation at that time, or whether he would expose his disguise as the Reverse Falcon.
Bruce's words suddenly rang in my ears.
“Cillian, what you’ve done is dangerous. I’m certain that one day you will be forced to flee Hel City… just like when we first met.”
The ugly dog face said in a serious tone.
"You'd better be prepared for that moment."
Cillian was making serious preparations. Even after living in Hull City for so long, he still regularly maintained his motorcycle and replaced parts.
But that's clearly not enough. One motorcycle is far from enough to cross the treacherous wilderness. Perhaps I need a larger-scale upgrade.
Cillian patted his pockets and then looked at Maefuni beside him.
"Meifuni, your Centipede Merchant Guild sells everything, right?"
"uh-huh."
Meifuni swung her legs.
Cillian continued, "What about armored vehicles and the like?"
Mefuni glanced at Cillian suspiciously and asked, "What are you going to do?"
"I'm just a little interested and want to learn more about it."
"Armored vehicles can basically be divided into two categories."
"One type runs in the city-state, and the other type can run in the wilderness," Mae Fonnie explained.
"The former is very cheap and only needs to meet basic passage requirements, but the latter is incredibly expensive. You have to know that you will rely on it to get through countless days and nights in the wilderness, and move forward amidst the roars of demons."
Cillian asked curiously, "How expensive?"
"It's so expensive that you could buy a house in the inner city."
"Ok."
Cillian rubbed his forehead vigorously.
You get what you pay for. For armored vehicles to travel safely in the wilderness, they not only need strong defense and power, but also need to build a small array of light torches to constantly resist the invasion of chaos.
Cillian had to abandon his idea of purchasing an armored vehicle outright.
As it was nearing the end of the workday, Cillian left the City Guard Bureau early.
As soon as I got home, I saw Bruce sitting cross-legged, still wearing the strange device on his head, his body twitching every now and then.
“Oh, Cillian…”
Bruce's voice sounded somewhat listless.
Cillian left in such a hurry that it had no chance to express the discoveries it had made.
That mysterious and enormous cocoon resided deep within Bruce's mind.
Bruce tried to explore what was inside the cocoon, but each touch was met with strong resistance and pain, causing the whole dog to tremble uncontrollably as if it were having an epileptic seizure.
Cillian asked, "What's wrong?"
Bruce hesitated for a moment, then chose to trust Cillian.
It opened its mouth, as if trying to speak out the mysterious things in its mind.
Suddenly, my throat felt blocked, and I couldn't make a sound. My lungs were filled with water, and I couldn't exhale or inhale.
It was as if an invisible shackle had covered Bruce's mouth, preventing him from revealing what was on his mind.
At the same time, Bruce also clearly sensed that something terrible was about to happen once he spoke about it…
"Bruce, are you alright?"
Cillian moved closer. The dog had its mouth open but wasn't making a sound, which was really strange.
"I...I'm fine, nothing's wrong."
Bruce said dryly, "It seems like your nerves are a bit off; you'll be fine after a rest."
“That’s good,” Cillian nodded, then asked directly, “Bruce, can you build an armored vehicle that can traverse the wilderness?”
"What, you've decided to prepare?"
Bruce thought for a moment and replied, "I don't have a complete blueprint for an armored vehicle in my mind, but I can cobble one together for you."
Its gaze fell on the balcony, where Cillian's motorcycle was parked downstairs.
"Luckily, there's a readily available energy engine there. With just a few modifications, it can be used directly."
Cillian grabbed Bruce's chin. "This is a huge help!"
