Chapter 60 The Crow Witch (Please continue reading)

"I'm banging my head... I can't breathe!"

Feeling a strong sense of suffocation, Haven woken up from his sleep.

Rubbing his eyes, he looked down and saw a long leg pressed against his chest. Looking at Serena, who was lying on the side with no sleeping posture, Haven sat up and put the girl's leg down.

Serena, still half asleep, unconsciously stirred a few times. Having been woken up, Havent was wide awake and stood up, walking towards the fire.

"Huh? When did you wake up?"

Looking at little Lori sitting on the wooden stump warming herself by the fire, he asked in surprise.

"Ah~ Mr. Will, you're awake. I woke up around three in the morning and saw you and that older sister sleeping together. I didn't want to disturb you, so I came out."

Haven nodded at Lori's answer, picked up a few pieces of wood, threw them into the fire, and sat down next to the boy.

"How are you feeling? Is there anything that's bothering you?"

Little Lori crossed his arms and stared blankly at the fire.
"No, thank you for your concern, Mr. Will. If it weren't for you, I might be a corpse like Grandpa Simona long ago."

Seeing Lori's dejected mood, Haven patted the boy's head.

"Don't think too much. Since you've survived, live with the happiness others share. I'm sure Mr. Simoya wouldn't want you to be so sad and upset. What would you like to eat?"

Upon hearing Haven's words, Lori quickly stepped forward:
"Ah~ no need for you to trouble yourself, I can eat anything, let me help you. Actually, I can do it too, just a little bit~"

Looking at the little boy who resembled an abandoned kitten, Haven smiled and ruffled Lori's hair.
"Relax, young man. We men of the North are like eagles. I'll see how it goes. Soldier, your task now is to wash your face."

Lori watched Havel walk over to the fire and fiddle with the iron pot, her eyes reddening slightly. She quickly wiped them away with her sleeve, revealing a fanatical expression.

'Don't underestimate me just because I'm a sheep~ The sheep sing for me~ La la la la la la la~'

Just as Haven was humming a song and stirring the milky white mutton soup in the iron pot, a head suddenly poked out from the side.

"It smells so good, Will, what is this?"

Startled, Will saw Serena and patted his wildly beating heart. The girl was wrinkling her cute nose and sucking in the aroma from the iron pot.

"Serena, you're awake? This is mutton offal soup. I'll bake a few flatbreads later to soak in it. It'll be delicious!"

"Very beautiful?"

Serena turned her head and looked at Haven with a blank expression.

"Yes, yes, it tastes amazing."

Half an hour later, watching the two people sitting on the wooden stake eating voraciously, Haven suddenly realized that he wasn't such a big eater after all, and that at this rate, his reserves wouldn't last long.

"So beautiful!"

Looking at the large basin Serena handed him, Haven asked incredulously:
"Another pot, please?"

He turned to look at Lori, who was looking at him shyly.

"Would you like another big bowl?"

After eating and drinking their fill, the group prepared to pack up and search for the place Serena had mentioned. Fortunately, this time, little Lori woke up and diligently helped Havent tidy up the camp.

"Speaking of which, Serena, what did you fight yesterday?"

The silver-haired girl lazily floated off the ground, following beside Haven. Still savoring the taste of the mutton soup, she opened her eyes upon hearing Haven's question.

"It's a corrupted raven hag. There's a magic tower just ahead, and the witch inside has been seduced and corrupted by darkness."

"The Crow Witch? What's that?"

“I know?” Seeing Lori raise his hand, Haven gestured for the little boy to say it.

"I read in the 'Monster Introduction' that some witches, on the path of researching dark magic, would abandon or violate the teachings of the Magic Lady, and eventually, under the temptation of an unknown deity, would fall into a half-human, half-bird form, and I heard that they love to eat men's hearts."

Haven glanced at Lori suspiciously. "You like eating men's hearts? Is this book serious? It sounds like a storybook meant to scare children."

"Is this crow hag very powerful? Serena, if you can fly, you must be at least a mage."

Serena shook her head, recalling the scene of yesterday's fight.
"No, she is weak, but there is something strange where she is, and Serena's magic becomes disordered."

"Is that so?"

Heavent was a little confused by Serena's description. He vaguely sensed something, but couldn't quite put his finger on it.

"Hiss~ I feel like I've forgotten something very important, what was it again?"

I gently patted my temples a few times, and when I really couldn't remember, I shook my head and stopped thinking about it.

The three walked for another hour. This time, with Serena leading the way, they didn't get lost. Seeing the magic tower emerging from the shadows of the trees, Haven quickly reached out and grabbed Serena, who was about to take flight.

"Wait a minute, what are you doing?"

Serena turned back to look at Haven, puzzled.

"We've arrived. I need to complete the task my mother assigned me."

"No, I know that. Come down first, I have something to tell you."

At Haven's insistence, the three of them went to a bush.

"Why did you just go in? Shouldn't we have done some reconnaissance first?"

"Investigation?"

Hearing Haven's words, Serena tilted her head, clearly not quite understanding the word.

Seeing Serena's bewildered expression, Haven began to doubt himself and turned to ask Lori, who was now quite nervous.

"Hey, Lori, do you know what 'reconnaissance' means?"

Little Lori held a short knife that Haven used to cut meat in his hand, his little head turning back and forth like a spherical monitor.

“Mr. Will, reconnaissance is about finding out the enemy’s defenses, numbers, and weapons so that we can prepare for the upcoming battle and avoid being ambushed when the fighting starts.”

Hearing what Lori said, Haven nodded. It seemed that what he was saying was normal. Since he was fine, then the problem must be with Serena. He looked at her as he spoke.

'Could this be the legendary "big boobs, no brains"? Hmm... that doesn't seem right. Maybe Serena just doesn't think it's necessary.'

"Alright, you heard what Little Lori said. We'll sneak over quietly in a bit, then see what's going on inside. We'll work discreetly, no shooting."

Although she didn't understand what Haven was babbling about, Serena still nodded obediently.

Little Lori, who had been on high alert nearby, finally realized what was happening.

"Mr. Will, what about me?"

Haven turned his head to look at Lori, then turned to look at the surrounding trees.

"You're too weak. Go climb a tree later."
