Chapter 37 The Journey
Chapter 37 The Journey (Please continue reading)
This was the third day since leaving Riverwood. The nearly forty carriages demonstrated the strength of the Epochaya Merchant Guild. The caravan itself included guards and employees, plus three mercenary groups, totaling almost two hundred people.
Haven sat in a carriage, chatting idly with Paimon, who was riding beside him.
"Paimon, do you know what the Chamber of Commerce is hauling? They've got quite a lot of stuff."
Paimon had a blade of grass in his mouth, looking listless because Wells had given orders against drinking.
"Ha~"
Paimon yawned widely and said lazily.
"It's nothing more than potions, magic crystals, and monster materials. They come to the Northern Territory to buy these things every year before the snowfall."
After hearing Paimon's answer, Haven slowly nodded.
"Hiss~ That must cost a lot of money. Why don't they build their own guard team? Hiring outsiders is very risky."
"I don't know, maybe they're rich."
It was already close to evening.
The orange-red sunset was already close to the mountain line on the horizon. A few scattered clouds gradually turned red under the sunset. It was late autumn. The weeds on both sides of the road had turned yellow and rippled back and forth like waves in the breeze.
Haven sat in the back of the carriage, his back against the cargo box, watching the scenery slowly recede, feeling the evening breeze on his face, and contentedly squinting his eyes.
"Getting ready to set up camp!"
A mercenary on horseback galloped up from the front and spoke to Wells, who was dressed in iron armor.
The convoy slowly came to a stop. Haven stood up, stretched, jumped out of the car, and went to relieve himself. After taking a few steps, he heard a sound, turned around, and found that Paimon had followed him.
Do you need to pee too?
Paimon nodded and quickly followed, the two walking side by side toward the grove of trees not far away.
"Hey Will, I know a hot spring nearby, let's go soak in it later."
"This isn't right! Do they even offer this kind of service in the wild?"
Paimon put his arm around Havent's shoulder and rolled his eyes.
"What are you talking about? An open-air, wild hot spring."
"Oh, it wouldn't be good for us to sneak out and not work now, and your uncle won't let you drink later."
Paimon casually flicked his bangs.
"It's alright, I hid the wine long ago. Come on, come on, let me tell you, you'll regret it if you don't soak in that hot spring."
Haven shook himself out, pulled up his trousers, and followed Paimon with a mixture of disbelief and skepticism.
ten minutes later
"Holy moly, Paimon, this feels so good!"
"Right, right? Let me tell you, my uncle brought me here. It would have been nice if there was some alcohol; I should have sneaked a few bottles out earlier."
The two boys, shirtless, soaked in a 20-square-meter hot spring. The rising steam opened up Haven's pores, and the fatigue from a day's carriage ride vanished.
Hearing that his friend wanted to drink, Haven raised his right hand, and the ring on his index finger gleamed slightly.
Here you go~ continue.
Seeing a dark shadow flying towards him, Paimon quickly sat up from the hot spring, clumsily catching the object. After regaining his composure, he looked...
"Holy crap! Will, where did you come from?"
Haven submerged his entire body in the water, leaving only his head above water.
"I made a wish to Aladdin, and then wine appeared!"
Paimon held the bottle and examined it closely, trying to decipher the words written on its surface.
"Aladdin? Which god is that? I've never heard of him." "Aladdin~ Aladdin is..."
"Forget it, there are so many gods, I wouldn't know even if you told me. Haha~~~ Will, this wine is really delicious~"
Paimon, engrossed in drinking from the bottle, had lost interest in knowing where Aladdin was from and was completely absorbed in the wonder of the Blackthorn that Haven had brought from Whiterun.
"Hey~ drink slowly, leave some for me."
Seeing that Paimon had already drunk the second bottle and was about to make a move on the third, Haven rolled over to snatch it away.
"Hiccup~~~"
After finishing his drink, Paimon soaked comfortably in the hot spring and let out a loud burp.
Haven grabbed the bottles and shook them. That damned guy had actually drunk all four bottles.
"Paimon, we shouldn't go back. By the way, how did Uncle Wells find this place?"
Looking around and hearing no response, Haven turned to look. This bastard drank too fast; he'd gotten tipsy from soaking in the hot spring.
Seeing that Paimon was about to fall asleep, Haven stood up, walked over, and patted Paimon's face.
"Hey~, wake up, don't sleep here, you'll catch a cold."
A slight pain shot through his face, and Paimon struggled to open his eyes. Seeing his best friend in front of him, he grinned broadly.
"Hey Will, what are you doing here? Let me tell you, there's a really nice outdoor hot spring nearby, I'll take you there..."
Looking at Paimon, who was already delirious, Haven shook his head speechlessly, walked to the rock to put on his clothes, and then came back to pull Paimon, who was already asleep in the hot spring, out of the water.
Paimon lay motionless on the ground, looking like a dead pig. It took a lot of effort for Haven to finally get Paimon dressed.
Seeing Paimon snoring away, Hyland hesitated for a moment, but still picked up his good brother and headed towards the camp.
Just as Haven was huffing and puffing as he carried Paimon away, pairs of blood-red eyes lit up in the woods not far from the hot spring, watching the two figures disappear into the distance.
They walked a few hundred meters. Paimon, who had been bounced up by Haven, suddenly got up, and then Haven felt a warm sensation on his buttocks.
After putting Paimon down, who was vomiting uncontrollably, Haven looked back and saw a large wine stain on Paimon's buttocks. Enraged, Haven kicked Paimon in the buttocks.
Paimon vomited a few more times before finally regaining consciousness. He looked at the ground, then at his best friend's butt, and gave an awkward laugh.
"Hey Will, your drinks are really good."
He looked at the ground again and said regretfully.
"It just didn't stay in my belly long enough. Should we go back and clean it again?"
Haven rolled his eyes at Paimon and reached out to pull him up in an annoyed manner.
"Come on! You rascal, I should have just left you here and had your uncle come pick you up."
Seeing that Haven was still angry, Paimon scratched his head awkwardly and said to Haven in a conciliatory manner:
"Don't be angry, Will. We're best buddies. There are wolves here. What if I get eaten by them if you leave me behind?"
Seeing that Will was still ignoring him, Paimon was a little puzzled. His good friend wasn't usually this petty.
"I'll treat you to a big meal in the next town, Will. How about... um?"
Just as I was about to say a few more words to calm my friend down, I suddenly felt Havel grip my arm tightly.
Shh~, don't talk, run!
