Chapter 38 Wolf Pack Attack (Please continue reading)

"what?"

Paimon, still feeling dizzy, hadn't realized what was happening.

"Run!"

Forced to run, Paimon glanced back and instantly felt a chill run from the base of his tail to the top of his head; cold sweat broke out on his back.
"Run! Will!"

A large pack of wolves slowly emerged from the direction of the hot spring, their blood-red eyes fixed intently on the two of them.

"Ouch~~~~"

A gigantic, snow-white wolf slowly emerged from the depths of the pack. Its crimson eyes watched the two fleeing figures, and it howled at the night sky.

After the wolf king howled, the pack howled a few times into the night sky before chasing after the two.

Hearing the wolf howls behind him, Haven swore he had never run so fast in his life. Meanwhile, Paimon, who was not drunk at all, was wide-open with his mouth agape and his tongue was sticking out.

Chamber of Commerce Camp
After surveying his mercenary group's defensive perimeter, Wells strolled back to the campfire. Bucky and several small squads of mercenaries were setting up a large pot to cook. He looked around but didn't see his nephew or Havent, so he asked...
"Hey Bucky, where are those two little guys? Why aren't they helping out?"

"I'm not quite sure either, Captain. We haven't seen anyone around. Maybe they went out to explore the area."

Wells sat on the wooden stump, took out the wine bag from his waist, tilted his head back, and took a sip.

"That playful Paimon! Will was such a great young man when he first came here, and he's corrupted him. When he gets back, I'm going to give him a good spanking."

Captain Bucky, who was standing nearby, had also finished setting up the cart. He walked over to the cart and took out a pile of food from his bag.

"Commander, Paimon is still young, it's normal for him to be a little playful. He'll be fine after a few years when he gets married, and he'll be a strong and capable young man by then."

Wells took a big bite of the bacon Bucky threw at him, then shook his head helplessly as if he remembered something.

"Sigh~ If he had just put in a little more effort in training, he would have become a Tier 1 warrior long ago, and I could relax a bit more."

“Take it slow, Commander. Children grow up very quickly. My youngest son, I haven’t seen him for a few months, and he’s changed a lot.”

Just as the two were chatting, the mercenary standing on the watchtower made of a truck seemed to have noticed something.

"Yes, Master, Paimon and Will have come back."

Seeing the two men waving towards the camp, the sentry turned to Wells, who was sitting by the fire, and said...

Bucky then sat down with a glass of wine in his hand.
"Look, he's come running back. Young people really have a lot of energy."

"Oh no! Wolves are coming! Captain! Leader! Paimon and Will are followed by a lot of wolves!"

Wells, who had originally intended to talk to his old friend about the troubles of raising children, suddenly stood up and hurriedly walked out of the tent.

the other side

Haven, who had run nearly two thousand meters in one go, felt like his lungs were about to jump out of his throat, while Paimon next to him was already foaming at the mouth.

The wolves behind them didn't seem to be in a hurry to attack the two, instead keeping a tight 20-meter distance behind them.

At this moment, the people in the camp also saw the two men and the large pack of wolves behind them. Wells, standing outside the tent, saw the two men being chased by the wolves and was extremely anxious. He grabbed a longsword from the carriage and went to meet them.

"Run! Run!"

As the two ran into the waiting crowd, they instantly collapsed to the ground, panting heavily like two fish that had just been pulled from the water.

As more and more wolves appeared on the perimeter, the group quickly carried the two men into the camp. Wells was relieved to see that the two men had no injuries.

He quickly walked up to the platform built by the truck to observe the surrounding situation. After a quick glance, Wells felt a chill run down his spine. There were probably five or six hundred wolves gathered there.

"Hurry up, get moving and place the obstacles correctly!"

"Boys, get moving, get moving, light the fire, quick, throw it around the tents, Wells, Wells, come here."

Standing atop another wooden tower, the mercenary leader of the Iron Shield Oath waved to Wells, who then finished arranging his own defenses and walked toward the center of the camp.

"Damn it, how come there are so many wolves? We've walked this road so many times and never had any problems."

When Wells arrived, the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group leader Ada, the Iron Shield Oath leader Batila, and the caravan manager Dida were already there.
"Commanders, what should we do? What should we do now?"

Whether from nervousness or fear, the caravan leader was sweating profusely. His once curly hair lay limp and droopy on his head, making him look comically awkward against his round face. But no one was in the mood to laugh at that moment.

“Mr. Dida, don’t be nervous. Your caravan’s guards, along with our three mercenary groups, are more than capable of handling these wolves.”

"I can comfort the caravan leader," Batilla said, while Ada, the leader of the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group, nodded in agreement and said in a deep voice.

"Mr. Dida, don't worry. With us here, these ordinary wolves can't get in. If they dare to come up, we just need to kill a bunch of them, and the rest won't dare to come up. We'll be safe by dawn."

Hearing the promises from the group leaders, the caravan manager breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from his cheeks with a handkerchief.

"That's wonderful! We're so grateful to you all. I'll definitely give you a generous reward once we reach our destination."

"You're too kind, Mr. Dida. It's nothing we should do."

Upon hearing that the employer wanted to pay more, the three group leaders quickly expressed their relief.
"Commander! Commander! Look! By Tyr, what's that?"

Upon hearing the sentry's warning from the wooden tower, the three regimental commanders rushed up and soon saw what the sentry had mentioned.

Nearly a hundred snow-white wolves appeared from behind the pack. As the white wolves drew closer, Wells's face twitched uncontrollably, and he muttered to himself...
"How can there be so many wind wolves, benevolent Earth Goddess?"

But what shocked the three was not just the nearly one hundred wind wolves. Behind the wolves, a huge figure slowly emerged from the darkness, its scarlet eyes sending a chill down Wells' spine.
"This is~~~"

Ada, the leader of the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group, trembled upon seeing the enormous object.
"That's the death howl of a mid-tier magical beast!!!"

As the largest wolf drew closer, the three exchanged a wry smile; it seemed tonight was destined to be a very difficult night.

"Commander Ada, Commander Batila, let's make arrangements for our respective defenses. It seems a tough battle is inevitable tonight."
