Late Ming Dynasty: So what if Emperor Chongzhen was inactive?!
明末:我崇祯摆烂怎么了?!
Summary
Having transmigrated into the body of Emperor Chongzhen, Zhu Youjian, I immediately started to slack off. While everyone else's slacking off was just an act, mine was genuine.
The emperor's elder brother, a carpenter, died at the age of 23, before even graduating from university; his father only reigned for a month before his death; and his grandfather, the Wanli Emperor, lived to the age of 58 despite not attending court for 30 years and suffering from numerous illnesses. Isn't it obvious who we should learn from?
Looking at the emperors of the Ming Dynasty, after Yongle, all those who were diligent and hardworking died young, while the Kaibai (a Ming emperor) managed to survive. I'm too lazy to bother with reforms, centralization, or technological advancements, because they're all ephemeral. The Ming emperors were like water, and I don't want to be one of them.
I'm marrying into a high-ranking official's family, so having a child shouldn't offend anyone, right? I'm selling myself. Anyone who wants to become my maternal relative is warmly welcome. I'll offer 200 taels of silver. Of course, ugly people are not welcome.
What does Wei Zhongxian's struggle with the Donglin Party have to do with me? I only have a few coins in my monthly allowance, why would I risk my life for them?!
Before I knew it, it was the eighteenth year of the Chongzhen Emperor's reign. I knew then that if the emperor hadn't been so reckless, how could the Ming Dynasty have possibly fallen?!
