Chapter 635 Odin
Asgard, the realm of the Norse gods, is also the most prosperous place in the entire Nine Realms.

The buildings here are towering into the clouds, often exceeding 100 meters in height, but the lower half is almost entirely made of solid load-bearing columns. The functional parts of the buildings are completely piled up in the upper half, making it seem as if someone specially built a large number of marble columns to make a sky city rise from the ground.

Every single white marble column supported the golden building and the towering dome. Peter's neck ached after just a short while of looking up. Somewhat bewildered, he asked Thor, "Could the Asgardians build floating cities?"

"Of course you can, my friend. What are you thinking? The Almighty Father is still waiting for us."

"I'm wondering, if we can just build a floating city, why do we need so many pillars here?"

Upon hearing this question, Thor also fell into deep thought. He found that he, too, had no way of answering it, because he had never thought about it before. At this moment, Heimdall, who had been standing guard at the head of the Rainbow Bridge, watching the two of them in a daze, gave his answer: "It's for the sake of beauty."

"Yes, my friend, it's for looks... huh?"

Thor turned to look at Heimdall, his face filled with disbelief. He found it hard to accept the answer: "My brother, are you sure you're not mistaken?"

“No, my brother. Our father did build Asgard this way for ‘good looks.’ Compared to a simple sky city, Asgard, supported by countless pillars, has a greater visual impact, more majesty and awe. This is the reason why our father built Asgard this way.”

Thor pondered the answer, finding it plausible, but then decided to take Peter to Odin first. He knew Peter's Iron Spider armor could fly, but that was too slow, so he grabbed Peter and carried him across most of Asgard to Odin's palace.

Thor respectfully put Peter down in front of the palace, nodded to the Asgardian soldiers guarding the palace, and then led Peter inside. Peter followed behind, looking at the huge palace with a bit of a bewilderment.

To be honest, from an architectural perspective alone, Asgard resembles a kingdom of giants, but the giants have all vanished. However, Asgard was built after Odin conquered the Nine Realms and countless civilizations.

Could it be that giants were responsible for carrying bricks when the building was constructed, and then the Asgardians just made do with what they had?

As Peter was pondering, he saw the throne in the distance. On the golden throne sat a one-eyed old man, who rested his chin on one hand and held a golden spear in the other. Behind him was a towering tree, but strangely, only part of the trunk could be seen, and Peter was certain that the crown could not be seen from outside the temple.

That's most likely the World Tree.

Thor obediently approached Odin, put down his hammer, and knelt on one knee: "Father."

Peter stood behind Thor without kneeling down, but Odin didn't seem to care and spoke directly to Thor from a distance.

“You’re back, my son. Heimdall says the Rainbow Bridge has been attacked by the Wild Hunt. It seems Malekith is indeed planning an invasion of Asgard.”

“Indeed, Father. Loki has sent Amora and Skorch to contact Surtur for Malekith and to ally with the evil ones of Midgard. They have decided to invade.” Thor cried out, “I beg you to take action! We must stop Malekith’s plot!” “War is not a conspiracy. The Asgardian army is not ready. Tyr is training a combined army of Aesir and Vanir gods, and once training is complete, they will support Alfheim.”

Peter now understands a little why the hall was designed in such a dilapidated way. One of its purposes is to ensure that, even at such a great distance, the echo effect is still good enough to allow two people to hear what the other is saying.

Thor was certainly not satisfied with Odin's statement. He knew that Asgard was in a state of semi-war preparedness for many years. In order to fight against Ragnarok, Odin had collected a large number of souls of heroes from the Nine Realms in Valhalla, and the army was also being trained.

Therefore, Odin's statement was a refusal; he did not intend to rush to the aid of the Light Elf Kingdom, but rather planned to wait until the war between the Light Elves and the Dark Elves came to an end.

So Thor simply asked about something else.

“Loki went to Midgard to find Laufey’s body, Father, but you hid it.” Thor didn’t ask where Odin’s body was, but instead phrased it more subtly: “Are you sure Loki can’t find it?”

“Loki, he has Laufey’s blood in his veins after all. For a mage, finding the body of his own blood relative is a piece of cake. So why don’t you ask your brother why he hasn’t found it yet?”

Thor paused for a moment, then a surge of anger welled up inside him.

When he questioned Loki, Loki said that if Odin hadn't wanted to, how could he have allowed Amora to steal the Box of Winter? So it must have been Odin's conspiracy. Now Odin is saying that Loki can find Laufey's body anytime he wants, but he hasn't found it yet, so it must be Loki's conspiracy.

So you all have your own schemes, then what about me? What am I in your conspiracy? A mouthpiece?

Feeling furious, Thor even forgot about Peter's presence behind him and planned to take his leave to talk to his mother, Frigga. But at that moment, Odin spoke up.

“Peter Parker, a voter of Nice, your arrival in Asgard may not only be a chance to fight alongside my son, but also an inspiration.”

Odin's words reminded Thor that he had a little brother with him. Peter, who hadn't said a word until now, was idly counting the leaves on the branches of the World Tree. Hearing Odin call him, he realized and said, "Oh, uh, is there anything I can help you with?"

"To be precise, it wasn't me who sought you out, but the three Norn goddesses. The Asgardian god of fate needs your help with something."

Odin remained seated on his throne, as if he were fixed there. He glanced at Peter with his single eye, then retrieved a raven from a branch of the World Tree: "Thor will take you to Nornheim, and this raven will guide you to the Three Fates, child."
