Chapter 617 Frozen Atlantis

When Kron raised the banner of rebellion and announced his intention to overthrow Namo's rule—things hadn't actually gotten to that point yet.

Kron was undoubtedly a very powerful Atlantean; in fact, he might be the second strongest Atlantean after Namor, but the gap between them was enormous. If Namor hadn't been baffled as to why his army had suddenly betrayed him, he could have dealt with this guy on the spot.

Aside from that, Namor had no idea why those surface dwellers were so confident. Namor was just a bit impulsive, but he was still intelligent. After realizing there was something wrong with them, he quickly returned to the capital of Atlantis, intending to discuss the matter with his loyal subordinates before making a decision.

Yes, as the ruler of the seven seas, Namor has a group of subordinates with superpowers that are not even 18th-tier. There are people like the humanoid killer whale Oka and the cyborg Tiger Shark who has received Namor's genes. This group called "Defenders of the Abyss" can be considered the "Atlantean version of the Avengers" and are Namor's most loyal subordinates.

In short, he's much more loyal than that traitor Kron.

Namor quickly summoned his subordinates and held a meeting, assigning the witches in his ranks to handle magical matters, while he himself ordered the scientists of Atlantis to investigate information about the weapons used by the surface dwellers.

He didn't believe Kron's claim that "Namor is too soft on the surface people." Namor might indeed be unwilling to go to war with the surface people for some reason. But he absolutely wouldn't believe Kron's words. If he were serious, the first thing he would do would be to turn around and kill those surface people.

"And now, the surface people's oil wells are being constructed in an orderly manner, which is enough to prove that Kron is just trying to overthrow the rule of the legitimate king of Atlantis with a clumsy lie."

Even the usually hot-tempered Namor couldn't help but laugh at the thought. Kron's lie was so clumsy that even he couldn't help but laugh. But it didn't matter; it wouldn't be long before he led the army of Atlantis back to conquer the land.

He would show Kron who was bowing and scraping to the surface people and who was exterminating the surface invaders.

Almost the next day, Namor, having obtained the depth charge analysis from the scientists, led his trident and army to attack. They arrived at Atlantis (another city) with almost no resistance. Namor then pointed his trident at the enemy, and his army charged forward.

"Namor the incompetent, how dare you come back?"

Kron, a blue-skinned Atlantean who had undergone bio-enhancing modifications, resembling a fish more than a typical Atlantean, arrived before Namor with his army. Namor, however, was filled with contempt and ridicule for this traitor.

"The reason you were able to bewitch my army was simply by relying on the power of a witch. Now that witch's charm magic has long since lost its effect, and I've also found a way to counter the surface people's depth charges. Now, tell me, Kron, what other tricks do you have up your sleeve?"

Kron silently produced an antique blue crystal box inlaid with gold openwork carvings. Although he lacked any sensory abilities, Namor instinctively sensed the threat. With a roar, he ordered all his men to engage, while he himself threw his trident, which slammed directly at Kron.

Namor's trident was blocked by a powerful energy shield, but he rushed forward, took the trident, and slammed it down heavily. He almost succeeded; the energy shield set up by the unknown witch nearly collapsed.

But Kron had already slightly opened the box.

An endless, biting wind blew out from within, instantly creating a vast iceberg on the seabed. The entire army of Atlantis, along with Namor's guards, were frozen solid, with only Namor, shivering from the cold, still putting up a fight.

Kron had already closed the Winter's Treasure Chest and stepped forward to grab the trident that Namor was holding.

“It’s all over, Namor. I did this to prevent the destruction of the Atlanteans.”

"You fart!"

“What a pity.” Kron looked at Namor. “It seems you are doomed—”

A beam of multicolored light suddenly enveloped the center of the battlefield. Kron's arm was struck by the beam and instantly vaporized. Amidst his agonizing screams, he witnessed the victory before him and immediately fled. The beam then connected to Avengers Tower. Thor abandoned the frozen, shriveled, and dehydrated Namor to the side. Namor saw the Avengers and tremblingly reached out his hand.

“I…Atlantis needs your help…Avengers.”

Let's rewind a few minutes and see what happened on the other side.

After Thor once again traveled to the Elven kingdom to help the Elven Queen hold off Malekith's army, he returned to Asgard. As soon as he landed, Heimdall, who was guarding the Rainbow Bridge, looked at him.

"The central courtyard has been attacked, and Atlantis has been frozen."

Thor was completely baffled when he heard the news. Atlantis was within the sphere of influence of Olympus, what are you talking to me about, brother?
Then he heard Heimdall's second sentence.

"Amora stole the Winter's Treasure Chest."

Thor, who had originally planned to go and see Odin, was taken aback upon hearing the news, and then asked Heimdall, "Does Odin know?"

After nodding to Heimdall, he immediately flew towards the prison. Heimdall watched Thor leave without saying a word, then sighed.

Thor stormed into the cell and arrived in front of Loki's cell. He slammed his hammer heavily onto the cell's shield. Startled by the loud noise, Loki sat up, then smiled as he watched his brother roar and smash his hammer into his cell.

"Loki!"

"What's wrong, my dear brother? Did I do something to upset you again?"

Loki stood up and walked to the edge of the cell, examining it closely for the first time. Odin's omnipotent power had constructed this cell, so much so that even Thor's hammer could not break it.

Thor angrily questioned him: "Do you know why! You ordered Amora to steal the Winter's Chest and then freeze Atlantis! What are you thinking? Are you planning to start a war between the two pantheons?"

Loki paused for a moment, but instead of answering the question directly, he looked at his brother with a smile: "Actually, this wasn't my idea."

"You mean Amora dared to enter Odin's vault and steal an ancient artifact without your permission?"

“Actually, that’s exactly what your father wanted, brother. The great Almighty Father wasn’t in a slumber, but did he stop a mere witch?” Loki grinned smugly, leaning against the energy wall of the cell. “Think about it, brother, why did Odin condone my behavior?”

In fact, Oka is the same as Oga. In other words, Namor has someone named "human killer whale" Oga.

However, Oga means killer whale, so it became known as the humanoid killer whale, or killer whale.

Marvel's naming conventions can be quite amusing at times.

Also, this one has a faster tempo.
