Chapter 532 The Kang Dynasty (2)

Charles Xavier looked surprised after examining Logan's memories, not because Logan remembered him as dead—after all, he was over seventy and almost eighty years old, so it would be normal for him to be dead.

What surprised him was the authenticity of the memory. From any angle, it was flawless and impeccable; in other words, it couldn't possibly be faked. At least, Charles Xavier couldn't tell it was fake.

"Is it possible that you received memories from another world, resonated with Logan from some multiverse, or even exchanged consciousness...?"

“Chuck,” Logan called out his nickname for the professor, “I saw Emma Foster’s statue in the square.”

"Yes, Ms. Foster, as a member of the X-Men, also disappeared during that operation."

Logan leaned forward, resting his arms on the desk, and asked Charles, "What does Foster's voice sound like?"

The professor's eyes suddenly sharpened.

"What was the objective of that operation?"

"Yes……"

The professor sorted through his memories, then took a deep breath and looked at Logan in disbelief: "Our history—no, our reality—has been altered?!"

“Without a doubt, Chuck, and now it’s clear who’s behind this.” Logan looked into the distance, where Conqueror Kang’s sword-shaped flagship hovered above Manhattan, New York, representing his dominion.

"What are you planning to do? Oppose Kang? If that's the case, let's not even talk about whether we have enough manpower, how many people will believe what you say?" The professor looked at Logan with a serious expression. This was something he could only say here. If he told others, they would think Logan was joking or crazy, which would be a good outcome. More likely, they would tell Kang about it directly.

At that point, Logan, who will most likely be the only one who remembers all of this, will also be killed, and then everything will be over.

"You can't wake up the others?"

"It's practically impossible. This isn't just implanting a memory, Logan; it's altering the entire reality. At least for the vast majority of people, their memories are intact, neither overwritten nor hidden." The professor shook his head, rejecting Logan's idea. Logan sighed helplessly and sat down on the sofa.

After a short while, he suddenly asked the professor a question he had overlooked: "Then why do I remember all of this, Chuck?"

“I don’t know, Logan… Perhaps it’s related to your memory returning? Originally, your memory hadn’t returned, but now it has… Perhaps that’s why, for Kang the Conqueror, modifying reality one by one is not only impossible but also difficult. So for most people who might pose a threat, he adopted a simple modification of ‘satisfying their desires to prevent them from resisting.’”

This is why Logan regained his memories, because it was his wish. This is also why the Professor was resurrected. Among the remaining old X-Men, there are always those who wish the Professor could wake up.

However, Logan asked uncertainly, arms crossed, "Then why didn't he just kill us all?"

This time, the professor didn't answer Logan. Instead, he picked up the remote, turned on the television in the principal's office, and tuned to a special channel. The content on that channel provided Logan with the answer. It was a recruitment advertisement. The advertisement began with a standard image of the American good life, showcasing how prosperous, free, and democratic the world was under Kang's rule.

But then, a group of terrifying robots from the future invaded this era and chose to attack the ordinary people around them. The man who was showing all this saw this scene and knelt down in pain, howling in agony. Then the scene paused, and the man walked out.

"Does this look familiar? This kind of battle is unfolding right now across all timelines on Earth, and you could be next, unless you can make the most important decision of your life."

With a snap of the fingers, superpowered individuals, mutants, and all sorts of high-tech robots and warships formed an army that crossed the green time engine and traveled to all the timelines since the dawn of civilization.

"Prove to everyone that you have the courage to pursue freedom and power. Join Kang's army! Destroy the time invaders before they destroy us!"

"........."

Logan finished watching the ad and couldn't help rubbing his temples: "So, Kang kept all these superhumans around because..."

"It's to conquer all timelines and seize all time travel devices, at least that's what he told everyone." The professor finished speaking and looked at Logan: "If you want to find some allies, perhaps you can try to find a way from S.H.I.E.L.D.'s perspective. S.H.I.E.L.D. has information on all superhumans, or at least they say they do. You can investigate the relevant matters, which may be helpful."

"Let me think about it some more, Chuck."

Logan didn't really want to get involved in this mess. If the world was actually better than it was before Kang modified it, he wouldn't mind staying. After saying goodbye to the professor, he found a S.H.I.E.L.D. office building and almost stepped inside.

After stepping inside, he looked up at the S.H.I.E.L.D. sign.

"So, S.H.I.E.L.D. is operating openly, right?"

A few minutes later, James Howlett, who had been absent from work without cause, was given a severe scolding by Nick Fury, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Logan listened in one ear and out the other, then yawned, went back to his room, turned on his computer, and wanted to see how this new world differed from the old one.

He witnessed the heroic exploits of a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent named Venom across different timelines, and also saw an agent named Spider-Woman skilled in stealth and investigative missions.

Hmm... Spider-Man's here too. Wait, where's Spider-Man?

Spider-Man is gone?
Logan quickly typed in Peter Parker's name. The search showed that Peter Parker was still alive, and was currently the manager of the Baxter Building, although he was just an intern. Moreover, Spider-Man seemed to have never actually existed in history.

After a few seconds of confusion, Logan remembered something: he seemed to recall that there was a connection between Spider-Man and the webs. If that was the case, asking Cindy Moon would probably help him understand Spider-Man's situation.
