Chapter 455 A surprise attack on AIM
Before Tony Stark stood Carol Danvers, who had gained superpowers during the Kovacs incident. Due to her active duty in the U.S. Air Force, she naturally (or rather, had no choice) joined the Avengers, becoming a very important member of the team.

Today, at this security event, Ms. Marvel is in charge of airspace security, preventing any suspicious flying objects from entering the vicinity. Like Iron Man, who just flew by.

“Stop, Tony Stark.” Carol stopped Tony, then asked warily, “What are you doing flying over here?”

"Would you believe me if I said I was here to protect the President of the United States? After all, the Captain is here too."

Tony's words did not completely dispel Ms. Marvel's suspicions, but the latter did lower her guard. Tony then had no choice but to remove his mask: "Well, actually I'm here to confront you. You know, less than an hour ago, a Longbow Apache helicopter that was in service attacked my house. I wanted to ask the president what happened."

"..." Carol frowned, looking at Tony: "I believe the president doesn't know either. If you're here to ask about something, take off your armor. I believe the guards won't stop Tony Stark. If you're here to help Captain America, then please obey orders."

Do you think I'm the kind of person who follows orders?

Tony turned off his mask: "See you in a bit, ma'am."

A few minutes later, Tony Stark arrived at the venue in a suit. Sure enough, this time the security guards weren't on high alert. Tony smiled and greeted War Machine, who was on duty, "Hey, Rhodes, how have you been?"

"Sorry, buddy, you know I'm on official business."

“Okay, we’ll talk in a bit.” Tony smiled, found a chair and sat down. He was pretty sure that the war machine was fake, or rather, that the war machine was empty. AIM controlled the equipment, but took the people away.

Now things are in trouble. Protecting the president wouldn't be a problem, but Rhodes is now a hostage in AIM. The Pentagon might not care about the death of a black colonel, but Tony can't abandon his good brother. He scratched his nose with a bit of difficulty and then frowned as he looked ahead.

Where did Rod go? He was eating hamburgers with me just two days ago, which means something must have happened to him...

As Tony pondered this, he glanced at the current Avengers lineup: Jack of Hearts and Black Hawk were standing near Captain America, while Zack was next to Hulk. And then there was... Ares, the God of War, chatting with Thor.

As for standing next to him, there was a super-adaptor that was actually a robot, codenamed Citizen V, with a color scheme very similar to Captain America's.

Tony smiled at the super-adaptor, then remained impassive, continuing to watch the show. He was waiting for the right moment; the surrounding audience hadn't yet entered, and according to his research, almost everyone in the audience was a potential bomb.

On one side is the Bomber, on the other is the Traitor; this is truly a game that no one knows how they could lose. Are these guys at AIM really that clever, coming up with such a tactic?

While blowing bubbles, Tony casually took out his phone and started playing a game. After waiting for a few minutes, he stood up and walked towards the War Machine, while the president was still resting and had not yet taken the stage.

"Hey buddy, I've got a question on my mind."

Tony walked over to War Machine and asked him the question. War Machine replied rather curtly, "Sorry, Tony, I'm on duty..."

"Where are you?!"

With a swift movement, Tony's previously unarmored arm suddenly sprouted a forearm of armor, piercing through War Machine in one go. The Super Adaptor and Carol reacted the fastest, rushing towards Tony, but Tony simply tossed the War Machine, now torn in two, toward the Super Adaptor, and then asked a crucial question: "It's empty inside. So where's Rhodey?"

"Is he being held captive in the basement of AIM headquarters?"

Carol, witnessing this scene, was momentarily stunned and didn't understand what was happening. Meanwhile, Killian, watching everything from his office, felt as if the sky had fallen. How could this have happened? Why did this happen?

Could the Avengers be prophetic?
"Boss, something terrible has happened!" his analyst exclaimed in a panic. Killian sighed helplessly and looked at him: "What is it now? Can it get any worse?"

“Uh, yes, boss…”

Killian looked at the image the analyst had pointed out. Above AIM headquarters, a floating aircraft carrier appeared, followed by a superhero team directly under S.H.I.E.L.D., the "Thunderbolts," launching an airborne operation against AIM.

"Boss, uh, we..."

"Activate the backup plan and directly attack the venue! Let Mandarin make the move!"

Killian roared, then, somewhat exasperated and helpless, said, "S.H.I.E.L.D. is here? Let them come! What do we have here? What can they find? There's nothing here!"

The experimental base for the Extremis virus is not here, the factory that produces weapons for the Ten Rings is not here, and Rhodes is not imprisoned here. It can be said that AIM headquarters is very clean, with no evidence whatsoever.

But there are things that aren't actually leverage.

"That...that project that the Pentagon didn't approve, boss, is still being secretly tested at headquarters."

The employee's words were a wake-up call for Killian. He suddenly realized what was happening and immediately shouted, "Quick! Tell Griffin to shut down the Cosmic Cube's labs right now!"

Meanwhile, before they could even react, Blackhawk and Heartjack's equipment was severely disrupted, and they found themselves unable to control their bodies. As for Zack, he was originally an AIM member, and the Super Adaptor was simply an AIM product.

So, of the entire American Avengers, only Ares and Ms. Marvel, who don't need any technology, are still able to move freely. They are now witnessing an absurd scene: parts of an Iron Man suit are lifting people into the air, causing them to explode in mid-air. These parts then fly onto Tony's body and become part of his new suit.

"no need to thank me."

"Well, okay, so the war machine is actually empty, and you've discovered that terrorists are bombs themselves."

Ms. Marvel understood: "So what's your next move, Stark?"

"To deal with the American Avengers, ma'am."
