Chapter 440 Lady Spider Returns
Inside Vienna's Golden Hall, students at Midtown Middle School are listening to soporific classical music. Mozart's music is passionate, but it's not enough for 21st-century pop music; people have heard much louder stuff, and you're asking Americans, especially high school students, to appreciate classical music.

That's a bit too much to ask.

Peter wasn't in the mood for music at all. Inside the magnificent and elegant Golden Hall, he was watching the news. Lately, almost the entire world was reporting on the Avengers' crushing defeat of Hydra, their heavy damage, and even their complete annihilation. In the media's portrayal, Hydra was depicted as a useless organization, seemingly destroyed with a mere flick of the Avengers' wrist.

Public opinion overwhelmingly turned against them: what trash Hydra, plotting and hiding for seventy years, only to be utterly defeated by the Avengers, trash!

This might be exactly what Hydra wanted: to portray itself as a weakling and make public opinion believe it had been completely destroyed. In reality, only Captain America and Nick Fury could conclude that Hydra's power hadn't diminished. However, neither Captain America nor Fury could provide evidence; they simply relied on intuition to believe that Hydra was cutting off its tail to survive.

Peter agreed, after all, the Winter Soldier was still alive, the Viper Gang was still alive, and Hydra still possessed considerable fighting power. The intelligence Ultron brought from the Hydra dungeons did indeed trigger a massive manhunt, but that didn't mean it contained all of Hydra's intelligence.

Peter was almost certain that Hydra was hiding something more.

Why are you looking at your phone the whole time?

Gwen asked in a low voice. Peter glanced at Gwen, thinking, "What else can I do? Wouldn't it be even harder if I didn't look at my phone?"

After all, she was different from Cindy. This girl not only liked reading, but she was also very passionate about classical music. Gwen tilted her head. She wasn't really into classical music, but since this was the Golden Hall, and with the excuse of being able to brag to her father, she listened carefully anyway.

Of course, how much of it they actually listen to is another matter entirely.

Cindy nodded matter-of-factly: "There's someone over there."

Peter looked over and saw red hair, sunglasses, and a red coat—it was none other than Julia Carpenter, the Spider Lady.

"If you think about it carefully, she hasn't shown up for a long time, it's about time she showed up."

As Peter spoke, he led Cindy to the café where Mrs. Spider was having coffee. The two sat down opposite her. Julia, seeing Cindy for the first time, smiled warmly and said, "Hello, Cindy Moon, nice to meet you. I'm Julia Carpenter, you can also call me Mrs. Spider."

"I happen to have a lot of questions to ask you..."

“I’m afraid I can’t give you many answers, Spider-Man.” Mrs. Spider seemed to know what Peter was going to ask and rejected his question directly: “Unlike other things, if the spider totem becomes powerful enough, it can interfere with the web of fate to a certain extent. In order to fight against our natural enemy, he needed the Web of Destiny to create a destined warrior."

Ezekiel Sims...

Peter thought for a moment, then suddenly realized who this was. This person was a key character in the comics who expanded Spider-Man's abilities from mutated spiders to the Spider-Totem. He told Spider-Man about Molen's existence and hid Cindy Moon for ten years to ensure Molen wouldn't sense the special totem of "The Bride."

He was also the villain in the epic film masterpiece, Lady Spider.

By this time, Peter could no longer get the answer to why the other party wanted to take his father to Taranto.

Because of fate, fate required Spider-Man to exist in Universe 616, and it was Peter Parker who became Spider-Man. Peter helplessly covered his head. He wasn't sure if the Web of Fate knew about his identity as a time traveler or if the time travel was arranged by the Web of Fate, but it seemed that he had indeed become Peter Parker and Spider-Man.

But fatalism confused him and made him feel somewhat...repulsed, as if something was indeed controlling his destiny.

"Why?" he asked Lady Spider, "Why me?"

“I don’t know either. Is it to fight against the successor? Or to fight against Shasla?” Julia shook her head. “If you want to know the answer, you might have to wait for him to come and find him to ask him.”

"So, you've come here now to..."

"I saw destiny, Spider-Man, so I'm here again to tell you the revelation of the web of destiny—Spider-Man will die, and then Spider-Man will be reborn."

Peter looked at Julia Carpenter, completely bewildered. These two sentences were both too clear and too vague. What was going on? Was he finally going to have to die and be resurrected like in the classic Marvel movies?

“What you’ve said is essentially meaningless, but thank you. I think I understand now who this situation is dealing with.” Peter finished speaking and stood up. “Have a nice day, madam.”
