Chapter 335 Under the Red Hood
Chapter 335 Under the Red Hood (Seeking Monthly Tickets at the End of the Month)
After communicating with the resistance forces at Limbo, Peter discovered a rather unexpected fact: Iliana from Earth 616 was not the first Magik to be brought to Limbo; in fact, many Magiks had already been captured and taken to Limbo.
However, unlike the 12-year-old girl on Earth 616 who was captured before she had even awakened her abilities, the Magiks from other universes were mostly captured after they had awakened their abilities. Due to one or two instances of their abilities going out of control, they accidentally entered the Hell Frontier, which was originally just a stopover. Then, Velasco seized the opportunity to invade their universe.
Life forms in these universes will choose to fight back. Some universes' heroes will pay a heavy price to sever Velasco's connection with their own universe, while some universes will simply be completely occupied by Velasco, and the entire Earth will be thoroughly polluted by the power of the Hell's Frontier.
Even the survivors will gradually have their souls corrupted by the power of the Borderlands, eventually becoming demons themselves. Some heroes have been completely corrupted and become Velasco's lackeys, such as the large group of Nightwalkers that Peter killed. Other heroes, although they have become demons of their own memories and consciousness, will not obey Velasco and have become wild demons.
The final group consists of heroes who are still resisting Velasco and haven't been completely demonized. They've gathered together, thinking about how to stop Velasco. In short, this wretched place is now somewhat like the Abandoned Land in the Deadpool and Wolverine movie, except that the enemy they're facing seems to be much more powerful than Cassandra Nova.
Besides Storm, Shadowcat, Wolverine, and Magik, who come from four different universes, there are two other characters, Blade and Strange, whose origins are unknown.
So, these are the people who are going to deal with Velasco.
At least everyone was filled with sorrow, but at least the arrival of Spider-Man gave them a glimmer of hope. On Earth 616, there was a very powerful Sorcerer Supreme who had some solutions, and there was also a whole team of X-Men who had not been corrupted as potential teammates.
"You don't seem very happy?"
Peter found Iliana practicing her swordsmanship. She was taking her anger out on the demons surrounding the camp. This girl, who was just a 12-year-old child to Peter a few minutes ago, simply raised her greatsword and cut down the demon in front of her before talking without turning her head.
“With you here, everyone has a reason to go and die. Otherwise, they might be able to live a little longer, or at least they wouldn’t be in such a hurry to die.”
As Iliana spoke, she stepped on the demon's severed upper body and cut its head in two. She hadn't awakened any mutant abilities yet; she had simply studied magic with the demon Storm for a few years and was trying her best to survive in this place.
"Everyone knows they're doomed, but as long as no one mentions it, they won't actively seek death. You've given them a reason to die; you're burying them."
“Or save them.” Peter understood Iliana’s attitude towards him: “You still don’t believe me.”
“I…I’ve been in this place for three whole years! I’ve been fighting these monsters every day. My brother, the X-Men who took care of me, were even frozen in place as soon as they came in! And then you came! You came in and said that only three minutes had actually passed outside, and that you were going to…you were going to take all the people who helped me to their deaths!”
Iliana yelled at Spider-Man, "You're telling me now that I should believe you?!"
"Wow, calm down, calm down, girl."
Peter quickly took two steps back, then thought of the simplest way to prove that what he said was true: "Okay, if you don't want to believe it, you can take a look at this."
As Peter spoke, he took off his mask, revealing his face: "My name is Peter Parker, and I'm a freshman at Midtown High School. I should be about the same age as you right now. If I'm really lying to you, then I was probably only... 12 years old when I became Spider-Man? If we start counting from when I gained my powers, I was probably only 11 years old."
Peter saw that Iliana was stunned for a while, and just when he thought that Iliana still couldn't understand the situation, Iliana finally reacted.
Still standing on the demon's corpse, she planted her greatsword in the ground and then burst into laughter. Peter was confused and just watched as Iliana held her stomach and laughed for a long time, until tears streamed down her face.
He really didn't grasp where the humor lay.
"Could you..." "Sorry, sorry, you mean you were actually only three years older than me before, but now you're the same age as me."
"Yes."
Iliana wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes and slightly suppressed her smile.
"But you are Spider-Man."
"Yes?"
"What I mean is, you're Spider-Man, you're an Avenger, you're part of the world's strongest hero team, you've saved the world, remember? You somehow became a giant and ate an alien dragon that invaded New York!"
Actually, I did it.
"Actually, it was my bio-suit partner who did it."
“What I mean is… you’re a high school student, you’re the same age as me. This is too, this sounds too absurd. I’ve been killing demons in this godforsaken place for three years, I’ve learned magic, survival skills, combat techniques. I had Ororo teaching me magic, I had Logan teaching me swordsmanship. Even now I can’t say I could handle the guys you’ve fought, what about you?”
Peter then answered honestly.
“I learned combat from my uncle, a retired Marine, for six months.”
"See that? That's outrageous."
"Or perhaps it's just because we can actually win. I have an ability called Spider-Sense, which goes off very loudly in dangerous situations."
Iliana understood what Peter was trying to say: "And now?"
“The quietness is unusual. So, can you trust me now? Don’t worry, I have a plan, a plan that can save everyone. I’m not the kind of guy who would throw himself at Velasco’s feet if he got carried away.”
Peter did have a good idea for dealing with Velasco: "As long as we can launch an attack, everything will be fine."
"...If I could awaken my abilities, perhaps everything would be alright."
Peter paused for a moment, then shook his head. It was highly likely that Velasco intended to awaken Iliana's mutant abilities so that she could invade Earth 616.
But he had other ideas.
Isn't Spider-Man a kind of Red Hood?
