Chapter 309 Craven vs. the Lizardman
Chapter 309 Craven vs. the Lizardman
Craven, the world's finest hunter, is traversing the sewers of New York City, searching for the Lizardmen. He analyzes every feature of his surroundings—the friction between scales and walls, the tiny fragments of tissue—trying to find the Lizardmen's whereabouts from the smallest clues.
To be honest, he trusted Spider-Man's judgment that there was a conspiracy behind this involving Osborn and his gang, but he didn't quite believe the situation was dangerous enough to warrant Spider-Man's level of anxiety.
Spider-Man seemed a little too nervous when facing the Lizard Man.
No matter what, the enemy is just an animal. Even if it is a mutated animal, its biological habits cannot be changed. This is the enemy's weakness. As long as we make use of it, we can defeat the beast.
"Perhaps I can find and kill him by myself."
Kraven muttered to himself that Spider-Man might be planning to rescue his old friend, but for Kraven, this enemy was not just a monster that threatened the surroundings, but also someone he had been searching for and was worth hunting.
If Spider-Man "accidentally" kills the other person, it seems he can't do anything about it and can only accept it.
The premise is that you are able to defeat the other party.
As Craven pondered this, he weighed the spear in his hand. He had made it himself in New York from Adamantium, a material strong enough to pierce the skin of a lizardman.
"Alright, let me see what you're capable of and where you've been hiding, Lizardman..."
The lizardman is sleeping.
Early this morning, the lizardman hid in Otto Octavia's old sewer laboratory. While wandering through the sewers, he discovered Otto's scent and, relying on his powerful sense of taste—which he uses to analyze flavors with his tongue—he found his way to Otto's old laboratory.
Then, he thought of something: the new lizardman serum. He quickly realized how lonely he was and tried to create new ones of his own kind.
That's what he wanted to do.
The lizardman glanced in confusion at a capacitor inside the laboratory. It seemed that something had been inside it not long ago, but now there was nothing there.
After a brief moment of thought, the lizardman stopped thinking about it. He turned around, bit off his own tail, collected a vial of blood, and began purifying the serum before creating atomizing equipment.
The underground laboratory, less than three meters high, was very cramped, making it feel somewhat uncomfortable. Fortunately, the most difficult step—the production of lizard serum—was not particularly complicated. For the lizardman, it was a piece of cake, and he completed this most complex step in no time.
As for the atomizing device, it is much simpler.
As he watched the serum being purified, the lizard man felt hungry again. He began to devour his own tail, and after finishing, he rushed out of the laboratory and headed down the sewers to the Hudson River.
There are enough fish to eat there; there's no need to eat people.
Time continued until the afternoon, and the lizardman, who had spent almost a day foraging underwater, returned to the lab. To evade the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D., he had chosen to move slowly, lying prone on the riverbed, which was why it took him so long.
The good news is that his serum has been purified.
So the lizardman picked up the plastic sheet he had retrieved from the riverbed, packed the nebulizer equipment and several vials of lizard serum, and prepared to set off under the cover of night.
Just as he was about to leave, Craven, who had finally arrived after more than an hour, found the lizardman.
The lizardman's towering stature immediately captivated Craven. What a terrifying and robust beast it was! Craven had hunted male lions before, but male lions were lazy and arrogant, not as agile as female lions, and female lions were not strong enough.
He had hunted bears and tigers before, but one was large and slow-moving, while the other was stealthy and liked to ambush.
For ordinary people, these might be top-tier predators. But for Craven, who could fight even African hippos and elephants with melee weapons, these animals simply weren't up to the task.
But the beast before them was strong enough! Big enough! Its eyes held no weariness or laziness, only pure desire!
"New York is such a great place!"
The adamantium spear in his hand thrust forward, striking the plastic sheeting covering the lizardman and shattering one of the vials of serum. The lizardman, witnessing this, roared, then gave the same furious roar to Craven.
"Come on, monster! Let me see what you're really capable of!"
The next second, the Lizard Man lunged at Kraven. Kraven nimbly dodged, drew his hunting knife from his waist, and prepared to fight the Lizard Man. At the same time, he didn't forget the really important thing: to destroy all the Lizard Man serum here so that Spider-Man and the others wouldn't feel in danger.
Thinking this, Craven lunged at the massive tail that was sweeping towards him, grabbing it tightly and letting its immense force slam him against the wall. He then plunged his hunting knife into the tail, choosing not to sever it, because, based on his understanding, lizardmen possessed astonishingly strong regenerative abilities.
All he has to do is cause pain.
As expected, the lizardman, having been attacked and feeling the pain, retracted his tail. Craven seized the opportunity to rush towards the serum tied to his shoulder. The lizardman's other hand slapped out, but it was cut off by Craven's Adamantium hunting knife.
"Roar!!!"
The lizardman didn't speak, but instead bit down hard on Craven's shoulder.
"Yes! That's right! That's it!"
In his excitement, Craven slashed the lizardman's neck with his hunting knife, forcing him to release him. He then reached for the atomizing device, but the lizardman quickly recovered and ran away. Craven only had time to take one of the blood vessels before being swept away by a tail.
However, the lizardmen did not choose to linger and rushed out of the laboratory.
“Spider-Man, this is Kraven. I’ve found him. He’s on the east bank of the Hudson River. He just ran towards the Hudson River. You can easily catch him from the river. Yes, he’s carrying the serum and the diffusion device. I’ve already taken two of them and installed a locator on his tail.”
Craven took a deep breath, feeling a chill run through his body. He laughed helplessly, "What a ferocious beast. It's a pity this is a tracking mission, not a hunting mission... Be careful, Spider-Man, he's a poisonous lizard, and his bites are highly venomous."
"I'm fine. The super soldier serum is neutralizing the toxins in my body. I'll be alright soon."
A well-prepared Craven with sufficient equipment can indeed solo kill a lizardman.
