Chapter 308 Osborn's True Hidden Secret

Chapter 308 Osborn's True Hidden Secret
Osborne stared at the computer for a long time, making sure no one had come in or was watching him, before relaxing and lying down on a recliner. Gwen looked around and thought this place didn't seem like some terrifying secret base; rather, it seemed like... well, a lounge.

A Norman Osborne can freely unleash his energy in his lounge.

He actually put on some melodious classical music, poured himself a glass of red wine, and then hummed a little tune while swirling the wine.

Gwen stared at Norman, somewhat dumbfounded, then simply walked away on her own. She found a photograph on the table showing a young Norman Osborne with his wife Emily and another young, somewhat overweight man.

Based on what Peter mentioned earlier about the feud between Doctor Octopus and Norman, this person is probably a younger version of Otto Octavia.

Unfortunately, news came a few minutes ago that Doctor Octopus, who was powerless to fight, was brutally murdered by an unknown assassin who shot him in the head.

“You’re a smart man, Otto, but unfortunately, you’re too idealistic. You’re focused on so-called science without thinking about what science can bring us—profit! Money, you disdain those things. Of course, that’s not a reason for me to tolerate you, but when your demands exceed the scope of profit, and you have to waste company funds for your own health, I’m sorry, I can’t tolerate you.”

Was this a self-inflicted wound? Or was it meant for me? Gwen wasn't quite sure what was going on, but she was confident in her abilities and believed that she couldn't be detected by an ordinary person like Norman.

So why is he saying all this here?

Gwen recorded the conversation on her phone while wondering what Norman Osborn would say next.

"Then, you chose revenge. Revenge, what a good word. It can give people endless motivation. How long have you been planning your revenge? How many people have you killed? How many enemies have you made? Look, everyone thinks you are a purely evil person. As for me, I am a bad businessman. Compared to you, perhaps I am a good person."

“But you’re still a threat. You know that to get revenge on me, you have to destroy Osborn Technologies, but that’s precisely why you failed, my old friend. If you choose to defeat me commercially, you’re destined to be sacrificed by the Pentagon.” Norman took a sip of his drink, expressing his sorrow for his old friend: “But if you fail to get revenge on me commercially, what will you choose? You’ll definitely choose to kill me, kill my family, right?”

"So I'm really sorry to have to send you on your way, but I've heard that he's the best assassin. I hope you die without pain, my old friend."

Norman was the one who killed Doctor Octopus!

While it's not surprising upon closer inspection, there was no evidence before. But now it's different. Gwen has obtained audio evidence, although it might be considered inadmissible. But it is still evidence, and there's no need to hand it over to the court, is there?
What else? What other bombshells can you reveal?

“Peter, Peter doesn’t trust me anymore either, it’s a really sad thing.”

Upon hearing this, Gwen nearly collapsed to the ground. She suddenly couldn't help but ask, "What do you mean by 'this is truly a sad thing'?"

“Oh, Richard, you left me the richest legacy. You gave me a project with limitless possibilities and three incredibly talented students. But I still don’t know why you gave up on this project. Fortunately, your son inherited your DNA. He can still be Spider-Man. Perhaps not as perfect as you, but he’s good enough. The tech expo prepared for him was a great success, wasn’t it?”

Gwen nearly dropped her phone; if it had, it would have been unaffected by her abilities.

But was that tech expo specifically for Peter? Was it just to make Peter become Spider-Man?

Why do this?! "The plan was a success, but Peter will never trust me again. What a pity, isn't it?"

Norman said with a hint of regret, "It's such a pity. He's so smart and so talented. If he had put the energy he would have used to be Spider-Man into research or business, he would have been my perfect successor... but he didn't."

"How wonderful it would be if he were my son, or if I had a daughter."

...Putting aside how great it would be if Peter were your son, what would you do if you had a daughter?
Gwen secretly took notes, waiting for Norman to drop more bombshells, but Norman, who was only there to reminisce, didn't say much. He just continued to lament how disappointed Harry was in him, how outstanding Peter was, and why he didn't have such a good son.

So Gwen started looking for something useful on her own. She opened drawers, looked for documents, opened cupboards, and searched inside bottles.

Norman noticed nothing.

Until Gwen found something else.

A project proposal was placed right next to Norman, which he would occasionally pick up and glance at before putting it back down. Gwen thought this proposal must be very important, otherwise Norman wouldn't carry it with him all the time.

That's right, Norman brought this plan in from outside, even from the inside of his suit.

She leaned closer, curiously observing Norman Osborn's greatest secret.

What could it be? The Green Goblin Peter mentioned? Or is he planning to clone Spider-Man and other supervillains? What exactly is Norman Osborn planning?
Gwen stood across from Osborn, looking at the title on the plan.

Unlike the other savage power plan that Harry discovered on the other side, and the wildly imaginative anti-Earth plan, this plan looks very simple, even ordinary.

From the outside, the project appears to be just a brand new device, a plan for brain manipulation, positioned as a medical device for treating dissociative identity disorder.

Gwen couldn't help but tilt her head.

What does this mean? Does Osborne have a split personality?

Otherwise, Gwen really wouldn't have been able to understand what Osborne meant, or why he needed to keep an eye on the plan all the time.

She moved to the other side, behind Osborne's head, and followed his gaze, finally confirming the passage Osborne had been looking at.

[This device is in the theoretical stage; any possible therapeutic experiments could have the opposite effect, exacerbating the dissociative identity disorder.]
