Chapter 289 The Approaching Storm

"So why isn't Thor here in this situation?!"

Tony complained through the screen, because of Electro's special nature, Tony had become an indispensable character in this battle. Whether it was the power required by the Iron Man armor or the arc reactor on Tony's chest, they were very easy targets for Electro. Once the power of these things was absorbed, Tony Stark would basically be finished.

Literally, it means he's done for; the bullet casings in his veins will lose their suction and flow towards Tony's heart, causing his death.

Therefore, the Avengers need to come up with a solution within a few minutes, otherwise Tony will be disconnected and unable to participate in the discussion.

“Thor said he’s going to Svartalfheim to help the dwarves fight the fire giants. If Thor were still here, we really wouldn’t need to worry about a live lightning bolt.” Hank said as he and Peter made some minor adjustments to the new Spider-Man suit, while Tony, back at his villa, tried to provide as much information as possible to help everyone before the power went out.

After all, once Electro really arrives, Manhattan's electricity supply probably won't be enough for him to draw power from, and then communications will truly be cut off.

"Meanwhile, the Fantastic Four are still exploring the wasteland universe, and Banner has gone to find his girlfriend..."

The captain sighed helplessly. He was told it was best not to participate in the battle, as the enemies were becoming increasingly beyond the capabilities of ordinary super soldiers.

Where are the X-Men?

“I just contacted Emma Foster, and she said that the other person seems to have learned somewhere how to use electrical signals to defend against telepathy, and there’s no way to make him stop like this.”

The captain also brought some new bad news, while Tony, Hank, and Peter were designing the suit. The suit was made of a polymer material created from anti-gamma rays—the same cosmic radiation that had transformed the Fantastic Four. This radiation had also modified their original spacesuits, allowing them to perfectly adapt to their abilities.

Therefore, as long as the equipment is designed in advance, this suit can also perfectly adapt to Spider-Man's abilities—mainly by designing a suit that can "deprive" him of electricity, based on Peter's own bioelectric discharge and storage capabilities.

While the communication system was still operational, Tony first explained his analysis conclusions.

"Okay, to summarize our strategy, one is based on the characteristics of the enemy we've seen before. Electro can absorb and release electrical energy, but he can't absorb the electrical energy he releases. If we create a power-free environment in a short period of time, Electro will become weaker and weaker until he completely loses his ability to resist. So we need to stop the operation of the Arc Reactor under Avengers Tower first. Janet, can you handle it?"

Janet, who was carrying out the shutdown procedure underground, looked relaxed.

"Of course, even if I'm not a professional scientist, I'm still part of the scientific community. I have to explain to investors what they can come up with and leave it to me."

"Okay, next step, we'll make a bioelectric suit. Spider-Man will fight the enemy and, based on the enemy's characteristics, perform a 'power swap' to enhance the suit's energy storage capacity. We'll guide it to absorb the bioelectricity in your body and then store the energy it releases to boost your speed. This should significantly increase your speed as well. I'm still studying our Sonic friend's running data. Once the suit is ready, I'll have him deliver it to you."

Tony looked at the design drawings, making changes with a stylus. Peter, after listening, asked, "What if this doesn't work? We won't be able to weaken him enough..."

"Then the only option is to scatter all the electrons in his body, turning him into an electric current and channeling it to the surface or into the atmosphere. This will most likely kill him, so try to avoid doing that." After Hank gave this suggestion, Peter nodded. As the only person in the team who could generate electricity, he was the only one who could execute this strategy. The strategy was very simple: since Electro had shown two major weaknesses in the previous battle—weakness due to excessive electricity consumption and the inability to absorb the electricity he released—then Spider-Man, who could release bio-electricity, would attract Electro, grab him, and then strip him of his electricity in one go, thus forcing him to his knees and beg for mercy.

"All the hospitals in New York have completed the transfer, and they are all in New Jersey now. Various corporate projects and high-level engineering projects have also been notified, at least as you requested." Quicksilver reported on his completed mission back at Avengers Tower, which genuinely surprised the old Captain America: "If only this kid could always come with us on our missions."

"Wait a minute." Quicksilver smiled. "Is this an invitation for me to join the Avengers?"

"First of all, no; secondly, even if you do, you still have to deal with your old man."

Tony bluntly pointed out the biggest obstacle to Quicksilver joining the Avengers, then looked at the Pentagon's reply. Although Tony didn't get along with the Pentagon and the White House, what if they caused some trouble underground in New York, resulting in Electro getting his fill of electricity? Fortunately, after learning that a being capable of absorbing electricity at will was heading towards Manhattan, the Pentagon very politely stated that they had received the signal, shut down all projects, and were waiting for the Avengers to resolve the situation.

"Hmph, that's quite unexpected. I thought they would send American imposters or a few fighter jets to handle this problem."

Tony finished the design as he spoke: "Jarvis, start 3D printing. Tell me how long it will take for that Thunderball to reach Manhattan?"

[Based on satellite imagery, there is one minute and fifty-two seconds remaining, sir.]

"Okay, where's the silver-haired kid? Tell him to come pick up the package."

Tony poured himself a vegetable drink as he spoke. Just as he finished and was about to drink it, he saw Quicksilver standing at the gate of the manor in the camera's view.

"My God, this is California, and he got here in half a minute." Tony sighed and asked Jarvis as he opened the door, "How much longer, Jarvis?"

[One minute and twenty-two seconds, sir.]

"I asked about new clothes for Christmas."

The speedsuit will be completed in thirty-seven seconds.

“Good, Jarvis, the mayor of New York City and the White House have been notified, right? Janet seems to have shut down the Arc Reactor.”

Tony finished his drink as he spoke, and with a smile began the battle he was destined to miss: "Let New York shut down."
