Chapter 288 As fast as lightning!

“They’re just kids, Magneto, and this battle is clearly not for them.”

“Both Scott Summers and you have challenged many abilities that are not suitable for you, or even enemies that restrain your abilities. You don’t need to make excuses for the children’s immaturity.” Magneto didn’t seem displeased. He simply snapped his fingers, using his power to forcibly supply electricity to the entire Kenosha Island, while also hoping that Electro would be attracted by the electricity and return.

Logan just stared at Magneto without saying a word.

“Sorry, but the most important thing right now is that Max Dillon has escaped.” Peter walked over and rudely interrupted the tense standoff between the two: “He looks very weak and must have gone to find electricity. The most suitable place is Avengers Tower in Manhattan. Max has absorbed all the electricity from my suit, so I can’t contact the Avengers now.”

“I appreciate your help, Spider-Man, but Genosha isn’t available right now.” Magneto said, raising his hand as if to do something, while looking at Peter with a slightly apologetic expression. “But I will have my son Pietro take you to Manhattan. His ability is super speed, so he can get you back to Manhattan the fastest.”

“I’ll have the kids contact the Avengers using the communications Genosha restored. You head back first.” Logan added, then looked at Magneto, “I’m pretty sure there’s still a lot to talk about between him and me.”

"Hey, I'm here!" A silver lightning bolt appeared on the scene, and Pietro rattled off his "glorious deeds": "I saved over three hundred people, twenty-three dogs, and two cats, oh, and..."

“Pietro,” Magneto interrupted his son’s rambling, “I need you to take Spider-Man to Manhattan immediately and help the Avengers catch that mutant who crippled Genoa’s power.”

“Okay, Dad, no problem.” Pietro put on his goggles and looked at Peter: “Sorry, for my running form, you have to choose between me carrying you or me holding you, buddy.”

"It's okay, I just need to put one hand on your back, I can stick to you."

Pietro laughed. "That's fine then." He turned his back to Peter, shrugged, and once Peter's hand was on his back, he immediately started running. A sonic boom echoed from the spot as he took off.

Following Quicksilver at breakneck speed is a very peculiar experience. Peter felt the sonic boom and was amazed at the speed at which he could run across the water while carrying another person. This was much faster than when he was handing steaks to himself and Wanda. Even more exaggeratedly, as Pietro ran, it seemed as if some kind of air barrier was formed, and Peter did not feel the weightlessness at high speed at all.

"How fast can you run?!"

“Normally it’s Mach 5, but now it’s an emergency. I have to use my sprinting speed to the limit.”

"so……?"

"The fastest I've ever circled the Earth's equator is in about three minutes, but you know, like an average person running a kilometer, it takes technique and is much slower." As Quicksilver stopped, Peter looked around at the familiar furnishings on the top floor of Avengers Tower, while Quicksilver took off his goggles and tidied his silver hair.

"Also, don't be so loud. I can maintain a certain distance of air circulation around me when I'm running. You're a bit too loud for my ears. Wow, this is Avengers Tower. Your interior design is really good. It's much better than my dad's old-fashioned design that imitates European aristocracy. Why are the lights off?"

Janet was on duty at Avengers Tower tonight. While watching a horror movie to pass the time, a silver figure suddenly leaped out of the elevator, startling her so much that her scream echoed throughout the building, knocking over her snack tray. In a moment of shock, she shrunk to a tiny size and looked at the approaching figure, only to see Peter and the strangers curiously observing their surroundings. Jarvis turned on the lights at just the right moment.

"Jane? What happened!"

Hank, who stumbled out of the lab door, saw Peter, Janet, and an unfamiliar young man. His first thought was, "Is Spider-Man playing a prank?"

“Uh, no, something happened. We were in a hurry to get back and didn’t notice she was watching a horror movie.” Peter explained briefly, and then introduced Pietro: “This is Pietro Maximov, his superpower is super speed, reaching a top speed of about 223 kilometers per second. Pietro, this is Miss Janet, the Wasp, and this is Dr. Hank Pym, Ant-Man.”

"Um, hello everyone, I'm Quicksilver, that's the code name I gave myself."

Pietro smiled and began to speak, while Hank looked at Peter and asked, "What happened?"

"To make a long story short, Max completed the transformation, and when he tried to stop him, he self-destructed, turning into a living lightning bolt. Now, starving, he's heading straight for the Arc Reactor in Avengers Tower."

Having recovered from her shock, Wasp returned to her normal size and was still pondering Peter's words when Hank immediately reacted: "What is Max's current energy storage limit?"

"I don't know, but the amount of electricity he released was enormous, almost equivalent to a small thunderstorm. He absorbed all of Kenosha's electricity in one go, and didn't even reach the limit."

Hank frowned.
-
Max Dillon is heading to Manhattan, and because he hasn't eaten enough, his flight speed has slowed down to just over Mach 7.

In fact, not long after he left, he felt that Genosha had regained its power. He had originally planned to go back and have a big meal, but at the critical moment, the voice of the ominous lady reappeared in his mind.

"Don't think that Magneto maintained that electricity. You are no match for Magneto. If you don't intend to seek your own death, then don't even think about confronting Magneto head-on."

Electro was very obedient. He still vividly remembered how he almost got killed by Spider-Man. He didn't want to be captured and sent to the Raft prison, or even killed by Magneto.

He wanted to have some fun and absorb enough electrical energy.

So his target was clear: the large arc reactor beneath Avengers Tower, which was said to be able to provide power to the entire Avengers Tower for three consecutive years—it would certainly be a good meal—as well as the entire Manhattan power system.

He's going to have a big meal!
