Chapter 266 The Origin of the Zombies
Chapter 266 The Origin of the Zombies
Sometimes, things are just that absurd.
The superheroes and scientists of 2149, no matter what they did, failed to develop a vaccine. Perhaps Reed of 2149 had the opportunity, but he believed the zombie virus was an evolutionary process, so he actively accepted the infection, infecting even the Fantastic Four, Doctor Strange, Thor, and Luke Cage—creatures that ordinary zombie heroes couldn't even bite. (Who knows how he did it?)
After Reed 616 obtained a relatively stable environment, he completed the development of the experimental vaccine in less than two hours, although its most likely effect was to provide food for the zombies.
Frankly speaking, at this point, both Doom and Peter could have chosen to go back. The people had been rescued, and the place was still extremely dangerous; it was clearly not a place to stay for long. But Doom refused. For some reason, he came to Latvia, saying he wanted to save everyone there, and neither the Fantastic Four nor Peter would refuse such a proposal.
“I think Doom is hiding something from us.”
Reed spoke as he administered the vaccine to Susan, who looked at him with a hint of curiosity: "You know, Reed, I heard from Doom of this world that you in this world believe the zombie virus is a form of evolution that has infected others."
Reed gave Susan a strange look.
"Only a fool would think that's evolution. Putting aside the drastic decrease in physical strength, we've fought those zombies before. They're creatures completely controlled by their appetites, completely clueless about how to fight their desires. Theoretically, they don't need to eat, but they're tormented by a terrible mental torment. That's not evolution. If you ask me, that's a kind of... enslavement. Some unknown virus is enslaving us."
Susan raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. It was clear that Reed had also studied the zombie virus thoroughly, but his conclusions were different.
“I can take responsibility for destroying the portal. After all, I can leave this universe myself, so I don’t need to worry about those zombies catching up.” Peter was explaining the plan to Doom on Earth 2149. After he finished explaining, Doom nodded. Reed had already set the destination to the wasteland universe, Earth 21923, based on the vibrational frequency of the multiverse. Once everyone had been teleported, Peter would destroy the portal and then escape.
As for Doom on Earth 616, he was simply looking at the control panel of the portal, unaware that he had discovered something.

T'Challa awoke from his pain, and the last thing he remembered was discovering that Ant-Man, Hank Pym, had been bitten, and then Hank attacked him.
Am I dead? Or have I been infected and turned into a similar monster?
T'Challa struggled to sit up and discovered that one of his legs and one of his arms had been replaced with prosthetics. As for where his original limbs had gone, that was an obvious question.
“You are safe, T'Challa, at least for the next few hours.”
He heard a somewhat unfamiliar voice—Magneto's voice. T'Challa propped himself up and asked Magneto, "Did you save me, Magneto?"
"...No, it's not me, it's heroes from another world who have wandered here by mistake. You are now in Latveria, and Doom has created a portal that can traverse the multiverse, planning to send everyone to a safe universe."
A safe universe...
Black Panther stared blankly into the unfamiliar room, but then noticed Magneto's voice trembling with tears. He roughly understood what had happened; Magneto's children had undoubtedly been devoured in the battle, or turned into monsters. So he asked with concern, "Are you alright, Erik?"
"I...I...What have I done, oh my god."
“What?” “It’s all my fault, T’Challa, it’s me.”
Under T'Challa's shocked gaze, Magneto told him a terrifying story: a day earlier, Magneto had contacted a mysterious figure on asteroid X. This person claimed to possess a virus capable of distinguishing between ordinary humans and superhumans, and infecting them with it. After a detailed discussion, Magneto believed it was a biological weapon capable of wiping out all ordinary humans and making mutants the rulers of the world. Therefore, Magneto chose to make a deal with the figure.
The moment he pressed the button, a bolt of lightning streaked across the sky, and a superhero he had never seen before appeared in Manhattan, and that's how it all began. The mysterious man was right; the virus could indeed distinguish between ordinary people and superhumans, but the problem was that superhumans would be infected much more quickly.
"...Who is that mysterious person?"
T'Challa grasped the key point and immediately asked a question. For a moment, Magneto forgot about this and said somewhat awkwardly, "I don't know. He contacted me on asteroid X."
"What about asteroid X?"
"We have landed in Latvia."
Black Panther immediately got up and started walking with his still unfamiliar prosthetic leg, heading towards asteroid X. He walked in amidst the bewildered gazes of several survivors from the Brotherhood of Mutants and the X-Men, and began to peruse the communication records of asteroid X.
If this terrible disaster wasn't some natural consequence, but rather the result of some evil conspiracy, then perhaps the mastermind behind it all has a way to resolve everything. He tried to contact the other party again, but found no communication history, which angered him so much that he slammed his fist on the control panel.
Hi, how are you?
Peter, who had originally intended to tell the Scarlet Witch that Magneto was still alive and take her to find his father, poked his head in. Black Panther sighed helplessly, "Sorry, Spider-Man, I, I just..."
Who are you contacting?
"The mastermind behind this is the one who released the zombie virus into the world. Perhaps he has a way to solve all of this."
“Perhaps your method is flawed. If the zombies that are the source of the infection aren't from this universe, then the other party might not be in this universe either.” Peter shrugged and walked to the control panel. “Fortunately, I’m quite adept at traversing the multiverse, and I’ve also happened to learn some knowledge about multiverse travel and vibrational frequencies, so we need to relocate the signal source—”
The screen on asteroid X lit up, and the mastermind behind the zombie virus that was released onto Earth appeared. A huge, shiny bald head appeared on the screen, looking at Peter, who had contacted him, with surprise.
"Spider-Man?"
