Chapter 240 The Legend of Kovac

Michael Kovacs, a humanoid figure who suddenly appeared on the territory of the Kree Empire. His body leaked immeasurable energy, causing considerable destruction wherever he went.

When the Guardians of the Galaxy found him, he was already a deranged, rambling, walking bomb.

Peter asked with considerable curiosity, "What did he say?"

“He said he came from the 31st century. At first we were not sure what the 31st century was, but judging from his arrival on Earth, he may have come from Earth’s 31st century.”

Adam recounted the story pieced together from Kovac's fragmented, incoherent ramblings, and Peter, upon hearing Kovac's name, felt a surge of curiosity. The name Kovac seemed familiar... oh right, in the EMH animated series, in that episode where the Guardians of the Galaxy were chasing Kovac to Earth.

However, Michael Kovacs was an ordinary Earthling captured and modified by the Kree Empire, and he had no 31st-century setting. Peter, who had once again experienced a drastic change in his setting, chose to continue listening. Suddenly, his spider-sense clicked. Peter looked around curiously, but found nothing unusual.

Kang the Conqueror, who had been hiding to the side, sat in his chair, quietly distancing himself from everything. It was astonishing that Spider-Man's spider-sense could detect traces outside the timeline. He had come here after searching for the keyword "31st century," his purpose being to investigate what caused the multiverse collision crisis.

And he happens to be from the 31st century.

"Then, Kovacs is from the 31st century, maybe from Earth. So why is he crazy, and why did he come to Earth?"

“We don’t know either.” Adam shook his head helplessly. “The only thing we know is that Kovac said he was driven mad by a terrible conqueror who coveted his power and wanted to cover the whole world.”

31st century... conquerors...

Kang the Conqueror?

Just as Peter was pondering Kang's existence, Kang went completely numb. He detached himself from time, returned to his warship, and then turned on his computer: "Search Michael Kovac, timestamp 31st century."

Unfortunately, even a thousand years later, the computer couldn't provide the answer Kahn needed. All the people shown named Michael Kovacs weren't the image Adam had projected. Kahn then displayed Kovacs's image on the computer, but still, there were no answers.

What's going on here? There's clearly no Michael Kovak.

Confused, Kang returned to that point in time and continued listening to Adam's narration. In short, because of the power of the Soul Stone, Adam decided to calm Kovac down and stop acting like a madman, but Kovac's power far exceeded his expectations. Once he entered Kovac's mind, his uncontrollable power began to be released uncontrollably.

"I tried to control Kovac's power, but I failed..." Adam sighed helplessly. In the final projection of his consciousness, an entire planet was destroyed due to the leakage of Kovac's energy. At the same time, Kovac was unharmed, muttering something as he drifted into the distance.

Adam only had time to read one thing: Kovacs's goal was Earth.

"So you came to Earth to help us." Peter rubbed his temples after he roughly understood the situation. "Okay, but what good ideas do you have for dealing with a guy who can blow up an entire planet?"

“There’s a way that’s not sure if it will work,” Adam said. “But we need help, especially the power to hinder Kovac’s operation.”

“Okay, then you’ve come to the right place.” Peter shrugged, then pointed to the sky.

In mid-air, a god wielding a divine hammer is slowly descending.

"I received your call, Spider-Man. What help do you need?" Thor landed beside Peter and looked at Adam: "And who is this incredibly powerful sorcerer?"

"We need to find a living bomb, but first, we need to figure out if it has come to Earth, or when it will come."

Dr. Michael's mouth dropped open as he recalled the unusual signal that had flashed across the computer screen earlier.

Could it be that Kovac has already...?

Spider-Man may never get a rest. That's the conclusion Gwen came to. Even if he left New York and came to a small place like Puerto Rico, Spider-Man would still run into trouble and mess everything up. Now they've gone out, leaving Gwen alone to wander around the small town of San Juan. Naturally, this place is not as bustling as New York, and there's not much worth seeing in the shops.

Gwen sighed, walked out of the store, and saw a person collapsed on the roadside. She hesitated for a moment, then walked over and asked in a low voice.

"Are you alright, sir?"

"what!"

The homeless man in the hoodie sat up, looking at his own hands with confusion, feeling quite lost, but his eyes lit up when he saw Gwen.

"You're one of the spiders? No, no, no, you're not a spider yet..."

What do you mean by "one of the spiders"? Are you referring to Peter? Gwen frowned, straightened up, and asked, "Excuse me, sir, I don't understand what you're saying, and I don't know who you are."

"My name is Kovak. I am a friend of the Avengers and a friend of Spider-Man."

Hmm? I've never heard Peter mention this person before.

Kovacs nervously hugged himself, sat on the ground, and looked at Gwen.

"It's not a spider yet, what time is it now?"

"Um, 2 PM..."

"I meant the date."

“November 5th.” Seeing that Kovac still looked confused, Gwen added, “2012.”

"No, no, no, I'm too early! I'm too early! Damn it!" Kovac stood up in frustration, unsteady on his feet, looking at Gwen expectantly: "You know Spider-Man, right? You know the Avengers, help me contact them."

“Excuse me, sir, I don’t know you… and do you really need the Avengers’ help? I think you might need lunch more.”

"No, what I need is the Avengers, I need the Avengers to help me get home..."

"Excuse me, sir, your home is at..."

"I don't know where my home is."

Gwen was even more confused. Had this person lost his memory or what? She frowned and stared at Kovac, then took out her phone: "Okay, I can contact the Avengers, but first, you need to be more specific. Who exactly are you, and what is your relationship with the Avengers?"

“My name is Kovak, I’m a friend of the Avengers, I’m a friend of Spider-Man,” Kovak repeated, then seemed to remember something and added blankly.

"I am a cosmic cube from the 31st century."

It still involves extensive re-creation of the settings and characters, and has nothing to do with the character designs in the manga and anime universes; it's only based on the needs of the plot.
