Chapter 218 The Symbiotic Frenzy Takes a Sudden Turn
Chapter 218 Symbiote Frenzy - A Sudden Turn of Events
In the sewers beneath New York City, Otto Octavia returned to his old laboratory.
Because he fled so quickly while working for Kingpin, the laboratory was abandoned, which ironically allowed it to evade the Avengers' pursuit and provide him with a safe base.
Now is Doctor Octopus's chance to redeem himself. The Avengers haven't studied symbiotes as long as he has, so he's sure he can figure out a way to control them.
As Otto thought this, he took out the symbiote samples he had collected on the road and began to analyze them. But as he analyzed them, he realized a huge problem.
This is a blood sample found from a host. According to previous experimental data, the symbiont in the blood sample should have already begun to decay.
Why is it still active now?
Back at Avengers Tower, the scene where Thor single-handedly turned the tide of the battle was shown to the world through Jameson's lens. He used thunder alone to almost drive away all the symbiotes, leaving only a small number of stubborn symbiotes that fled back to Knar's lair.
Ultron robots immediately mobilized to rescue everyone and try to gather all the survivors. Even the science trio, who had received the news, were stunned. They hadn't even started yet, how could Thor have solved all the problems?
Should we continue working?
This was a very straightforward and direct question from Tony. Reed thought about it, and since everyone didn't have anything else to do, they might as well continue. Besides, Thor's arrival only reduced the severity of the problem; it didn't mean it was solved. So, they should just get back to what they were doing.
Let's figure out a way to solve Nar's problem.
It wasn't just the science team trying to solve Gnar's problem; the other heroes were doing the same. Thor landed on the ground, and the captain finally breathed a sigh of relief: "It's so good you made it in time."
"Asgard has a responsibility to protect Midgard, so there's no need to thank Steve. Besides, our troubles aren't over yet."
Thor, far from being complacent, spoke with considerable concern: "I have received a revelation from Odin. Nal is a god who has conquered countless universes. He would never choose to retreat when he still has the strength to fight."
"Come on, with one blow from you, Manhattan will be back to normal. What are we afraid of him for?"
Johnny Storm grumbled, still furious after being knocked unconscious by Gnar. However, everyone was clear on one thing: Grundle was not only difficult to deal with, but it was best not to kill him—not that he shouldn't be killed, of course; if Gnar couldn't stop him, then Grundle would have to be killed, and then they would figure out how to deal with Gnar's invasion.
But it's best not to kill him. So the captain looked at Thor: "Now that you're here, do you have a way to deal with Gnar? After all, you defeated him once before."
"If we want to stop Nar from acting, we need to completely defeat that dragon, exhaust his mind enough, and guide his consciousness into slumber."
Since Nal had obtained a copy of the Codex, his consciousness was awakened. In response to this situation, Thor's method was relatively simple and direct: to exhaust Grendel, deplete Nal's spirit, and make him fall into exhaustion again, and then have the telepath guide him into a deep sleep.
This is a fairly simple method. Before the captain could even think about it, heavy footsteps approached.
A towering giant, covered entirely in silver-gray symbiotes, walked over, its tongue lolling out. Upon seeing Thor, it roared and charged at him.
"That's Hulk, he's being controlled by Gnar."
"Leave it to me, Steve, I'll bring Hulk back." Thor said, swinging his hammer and flying towards Hulk. The two powerful heroes collided and then quickly flew off to one side of the city.
The captain nodded helplessly and began organizing the others to lead the civilians into Avengers Tower. With Thor's arrival, most people had been freed, and now was the perfect time to rescue them. The captain wasn't the only one with this idea.
"Yes, I understand, good general."
After receiving the order, Colonel Rhodes nodded helplessly and called to his only subordinate present, Black Hawk: "We have news from above that we need to assemble and show the world the power of the American Avengers."
Showcasing the power of the American Avengers? It's nothing more than a vanity project, just nice words. After bidding farewell to the others in the Sanctum Sanctorum, Rhodes chose to assemble his team and begin "rescuing civilians."
Given the mess the US military has done, asking them to rescue civilians is ridiculous; it's purely a vanity project.
With the American Avengers on the move, they rescued civilian after civilian with the help of Ultron robots, and then used Jonah Jameson's camera to conduct propaganda.
They don't even need to pay advertising fees.
Peter frowned. He sensed something was wrong, so he got out of the car and walked over to the captain. "Captain," he said, "I think there's something wrong."
"The enemy withdrew too quickly? I had the same feeling. Thor almost turned the tide of the entire battle, but Gnar wasn't without the ability to fight back, so why did he leave?"
As the captain spoke, he connected to the communication channel, and the message coming from the other end of the phone made him frown.
"what happened?"
“Nick Fury asked his own team, the Thunder, to go out and rescue people as well. In addition, your street buddies found some strange things, possibly left behind by gangs who didn’t evacuate.”
The captain said helplessly, as if the world would be safe and peaceful just because Thor came. He didn't know how they could have such a thought. In the captain's opinion, since the battle was not over yet, they should not let their guard down.
On the other side, Rhodes, unaware that this symbiote situation was different from before, grabbed a woman's hand and pulled her out of the rubble where she was trapped.
"It's alright, ma'am, you're alright..."
Roddy didn't finish speaking because the symbiote that Thor had previously banished reappeared on the woman's body and instantly covered Rhodes's body.
Similar events have occurred in various places, even inside Avengers Tower, where the remaining symbiotes within survivors have evolved into even more symbiotes, as if it were pre-arranged.
Indeed, after all, without a victory that clears away all the dark clouds, how could these excellent hosts be willing to come out?
I wasn't in a good state of mind while writing this chapter...
