Chapter 219 Symbiotic Frenzy - The Frenzy Arrives
Chapter 219 Symbiotic Frenzy - The Frenzy Arrives
Jack of Hearts witnessed his captain being infected by the damned symbiote after rescuing a survivor. Those ordinary people who should have been freed from the symbiote's shackles by Thor's thunder were now transformed into monsters possessed by the symbiote, and not only that, they were even more powerful—War Machine and Black Hawk were immediately possessed and became monsters, the new possessed superheroes after Hulk. They immediately launched an attack on Jack of Hearts and Living Flash, two pure energy beings who could not be symbiotically bonded.
But what's even more troublesome is not them.
When the attack reached the robot Citizen V, an anomaly occurred. Citizen V began to transform; the Captain America-themed robot rapidly morphed, a device resembling an arc reactor appeared on its chest, a machine gun emerged from its shoulder, and then a pair of Black Hawk wings appeared on its back. It immediately launched an attack on Black Hawk and War Machine.
According to the Citizen V robot, these two people have lost their ability to fight and have become enemies; it's time to eliminate them.
"What are you doing?!"
Jack of Hearts was stunned. Even if Colonel Rhodes was infected by the symbiote, there was no need to attack like this; simply stopping it would have been enough. Symbiotes aren't invincible!
"Zack! We have to stop it!"
So the American Avengers started fighting amongst themselves during this wave of attacks. The American Avengers had to avoid attacks from their own people while surrounded by the symbiotes.
The street heroes who left weren't in a good position either. They thought they were safe when they left, wanting to take this opportunity to check on the situation of the gangs in Manhattan, but soon, a large group of symbiotes appeared on the street.
It was only then that the Defenders realized something was terribly wrong, because among these seemingly ordinary symbiote minions, they spotted several familiar faces. For example, there was the Tombstone with its indestructible skin, the Hammerhead with its unusually hardened head, and the agile Wanderer…
Gang leaders with superpowers or special equipment have now become symbiote monsters. The Defenders are currently trapped by symbiote gangs and street criminals, and the symbiotes within them will undoubtedly see them as the next high-quality hosts to possess.
As for the Thunder Special Forces, Fury nominally summoned them to compete with the Avengers for work, but in reality, their whereabouts are unknown; they've probably gone on some special mission.
As Captain America threw his shield, he spoke to Peter standing beside him: "Avengers Tower has fallen! Spider-Man, many survivors have had their symbiotes reappear, and they've attacked others. Plus, the same thing has happened at Baxter Tower where the Fantastic Four are. Johnny has already gone to help!"
Suddenly, the original rescue team was reduced to just the captain, Iceman, White Queen, Peter who had arrived, Jonah Jameson who was responsible for protection, and other captains who had urgently rescued people from Avengers Tower. The five of them were now their entire fighting force.
"If this is some kind of major DC event comic, then the Avengers, Thunderbolts, Defenders, and Fantastic Four should all have their own side stories to explain what's going on!"
"Oh, and Thor too, couldn't his lightning strike the symbiote off Hulk? That shouldn't be the case!"
Peter delivered a flying kick to the chin of one of the symbiote enemies. The captain was still fighting, but the protective magic circle around him was gradually weakening. The captain swung his shield to knock the symbiote away, and then looked at Peter.
“Spider-Man, you should leave first. We’ll take them to the Sanctum Sanctorum; it’s the only safe haven now.” “I’m not sure the Sanctum Sanctorum will let you in, especially given the concern that what just happened might happen again.” Peter helped Captain America knock away several enemies, but Captain America just looked at Peter and tried to persuade him.
“Strange said you are the key to defeating Knull. Although I don’t know why you are the key, since this is a matter for God, perhaps we should listen to the sorcerer.” Captain America said, directing Iceman to defend. Although neither Peter nor Captain America, and perhaps even Strange himself, knew why Spider-Man was the key to defeating Knull.
But fate is never predictable.
Peter looked at the captain for a while, then nodded, swung away on his webs, while the captain continued to direct the others in defense, leaving Spider-Man to find a way to fight Knull.
Peter first went to find the place where Thor and Hulk were fighting. He watched the two fight from the rooftop. In just a few minutes, the two had almost destroyed half a street. Peter watched Thor smash Hulk's face with a hammer full of lightning, sending the gray-white giant flying. However, the symbiote on Hulk's body did not change. It just stuck out its tongue and roared as it continued to charge at Hulk.
"Nar's symbiote is no longer subject to Thor's divine power severing its consciousness? That's unlikely... If Nar could do that, he wouldn't be trapped inside Grundel's body. So how did Nar manage to maintain the symbiote's connection with Hulk?"
Those symbiotes do not have their own consciousness.
Those symbiotes lacked their own consciousness. Venom answered Peter's confusion with a single sentence: to sever the mental link between a symbiote and its host, the symbiote must first possess its own consciousness. The minions created by Nal didn't have their own consciousness; instead, they simply followed Nal's commands.
In other words, we need to start with Nar and sever the consciousness of the symbiotes? No, it should be Grendel. Nar's consciousness is actually trapped in Grendel, so we need to start with Grendel.
The challenge is to prevent Grendel's consciousness from commanding the other symbiotes, while also avoiding killing Grendel to revive Nar's consciousness—according to Ghost's report, Grendel, like these minions, is a monster composed entirely of symbiotes and does not have its own host.
This is troublesome.
Riots have broken out.
"Oh, the riots are here... the riots are here?" Peter paused for a moment, then looked behind him. Unlike Spider-Man, who could gracefully climb the wall, the rioters simply stuck their fingers into the wall and climbed up directly.
"Alright, in the third round, we'll send this guy back to Nar."
