Chapter 198 The Search and Suppression Begins

Tuesday was a quiet day, as the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and Thunder agents all went to salvage Grundle, leaving Peter as the only person in New York for the time being.

Oh, and Coulson's bus squad.

Peter is unaware that Riot is plotting something—the reason these four symbiotes who want to awaken Nar kidnap Venom to leave Klinta is not because they actually need emergency food, but because they need the Mark.

Generally, once a symbiote dies, its consciousness returns to the symbiote's collective consciousness network, but that's just the general case—if they find Grendel, then the Nar consciousness within Grendel has a higher priority than Klinta's collective consciousness.

Therefore, as long as the distance is close enough, if Venom or any of his hosts who have been in symbiosis for more than 48 hours are killed, their Codex will not flow to Klinta, but to Grendel. At that time, Nal, who receives the Codex, will awaken.

Next, the symbiotic dragon Grendel will return to Krintar, awaken their master Nal, and then control all the traitors, thus restarting the Black Emperor's path to conquer the universe.

Unfortunately, the plan went awry: first, they crashed in the Arizona desert, where no one could coexist with them. Then, they were captured by the US military and studied for decades before being released recently.

Then, it just so happens that the Venom sacrifice was the first to be released, and it symbiotically created an incredibly powerful host. Now, without a doubt, in a one-on-one fight, neither of them can match Spider-Man + Venom.

So the backup plan had to be executed—since Nar could accept any code of law, he could also riot his own. All he had to do was parasitize a reasonably good host, wait 48 hours for the code to be generated, and then fight Spider-Man until one of them died.

As long as someone dies, Gnar will be resurrected.

But before that...

Ward, who was monitoring Spider-Man's actions inside the S.H.I.E.L.D. bus squad, took a sip of coffee, suddenly stood up, and shouted excitedly, "Fitz! Your detector went off!"

The bus team stayed in New York because the other symbiotes left behind at the US military experimental base were temporarily missing. They wanted to stay and continue searching for symbiote signals on the east coast of North America. Unexpectedly, they actually received a signal response, which meant they could now wipe these guys out in one fell swoop.

What? The US military objects? Are you kidding me? When has S.H.I.E.L.D. ever backed down from the Pentagon? In the event of a global emergency, S.H.I.E.L.D. even has the authority to bypass the US president and directly command the US military.

Deal with him!

"Contact Spider-Man immediately and tell him we've found other symbiotes." Coulson immediately came out and gave instructions: "These symbiotes may have already found hosts to live with, so be careful of potential counterattacks from the enemy."

"Fitz, are you ready with the symbiote weapons?"

“It’s ready. The sonic device has been adjusted for the Horror Launcher.” Fitz said, taking out a muzzle attachment about five centimeters in size. “Use a battery magazine, pull the trigger, and you can fire an overclocked sonic wave—just remember not to shoot people.”

“Piece of cake.” Ward took the accessories, attached them to his sidearm, and smiled confidently.

Minutes later, at the bottom of the Hudson River, inside the former Hydra laboratory, Doctor Octopus had drained the river water from several still-functioning labs, started the power generation equipment, and was ready to resume his experiments. He planned to transform this place into his own private laboratory; the Hudson River incident had served as a warning. The US military was not actually reliable, and might even be hiding some very terrifying secrets. Moreover, these symbiotes were not simply parasites as the military believed; they might be planning a complete invasion of Earth.

In that case, we must prepare for both possibilities.

While reaching an agreement with the rioters, Doctor Octopus also began researching symbiotes. He has thoroughly investigated the two symbiotes he has on hand, "Extreme" and "Devourer," and discovered their additional abilities beyond the basic symbiote abilities that Venom possesses.

The purple symbiote is extremely capable of secreting highly corrosive acid, enough to corrode most metals. It can also spray acid while in symbiotic form. Furthermore, it is remarkably agile, able to dramatically enhance the host's speed.

The yellow symbiote, Devouring, goes to the other extreme. It is incredibly sturdy, capable of forming a thick barrier that can withstand anti-tank fire, and its strength can be amplified to the point where it can contend with the Hulk and the Thing. Of course, this is not the limit of its power. Devouring's true power, as its name suggests, is that by consuming the DNA of certain organisms, it can gain the special abilities of those organisms, just as a symbiote gains the abilities of a host after combining with it to obtain a Codex.

However, the way to acquire this ability by devouring it is temporary and not lasting, so there is no way to permanently obtain their abilities.

However, these studies are only basic. What Otto Octavia really cares about is designing a way to permanently control the symbiote. He longs to regain the ability to walk, and the symbiote seems to be the safest and most effective means at present.

Unfortunately, even Otto Octavia couldn't do it now. He had a concrete idea: to create a chemical substance that could neutralize the unstable molecules of the symbiote. But while he was experimenting, the base's remaining alarm system went off.

"what happened?"

Seeing Spider-Man wearing diving gear and a SHIELD submarine rapidly descending in the surveillance footage, Doctor Octopus let out an unparalleled roar.

Spider-Man! It's you again!

The two symbiotes began to collide wildly, trapping their container. Was this the symbiotes' plan? Doctor Octopus wasn't sure, but he gritted his teeth, picked up the container, and opened it. The yellow symbiote immediately covered Doctor Octopus.

When Agent Ward and Spider-Man opened the lab door, they saw a terrifying symbiote monster standing inside, waiting for them.

"Hey Spider-Man, it's time to get rid of this annoying bug that's always getting in my way!"
