Chapter 134 The Laboratory Underwater

Chapter 134 The Laboratory Underwater
Most of the Viper Security Company personnel were reassigned due to the escalating battle, making it easier for Peter and Felicia to enter the bottomless elevator shaft. Since Felicia couldn't climb walls, the final descent involved Peter holding her with one arm and using a spider web to slowly descend until they reached the water's surface.

Once they got here, Peter's help wasn't needed anymore. Black Cat was already quite fit, and Peter had brought a breathing mask from Avengers Tower and handed one to Black Cat.

Felicia had originally planned to use the old equipment left by her father, but after seeing the newer equipment Peter handed her, she didn't refuse and they both took the gear and prepared to move out. The two of them dived underwater in one go and followed the elevator shaft downwards.

As they descended, they saw the end of the elevator shaft. An elevator door appeared at the edge of the abyss. Peter turned on the light in the darkness, gave a gesture to the black cat, swam to the elevator door, and opened it.

In an instant, water gushed into the tunnel, and the black cat quickly darted inside. Spider-Man immediately closed the door again, preventing the entire tunnel from being submerged in the Hudson River.

Felicia grumbled as she wrung out her long, soaking wet hair.

"Yesterday I climbed up a ventilation duct, then took a shower, and now I'm going to dive underwater. Is it inevitable to go to places like this when we're together?"

“I think this is pure slander.” Peter naturally wouldn’t admit that Spider-Man has to be mixed up with sewers and ventilation ducts—Spider-Man is of course flying between skyscrapers, how could he be immersed in sewers?

It must be a frame-up.

Felicia chuckled, saying nothing more. The two walked down a corridor that seemed endless, and after a considerable distance, they finally saw a door on the other side. Peter glanced back at the distance and came to a conclusion.

"We should be directly downstream of the Hudson River now."

"Are you sure?" Felicia was a little surprised, then realized something. If the two of them couldn't defeat the Hydra inside, then escaping would be extremely difficult. This meant that the two of them would have to climb up from the bottom of the river and avoid attacks.

“Of course I’m sure, spiders have an excellent sense of direction.” Peter, who had reached the doorway, suddenly reached out and stopped Felicia: “Be careful, there’s danger ahead.”

Felicia was quite surprised and looked at Peter, but Peter didn't explain at this moment. Instead, he lunged and tackled Felicia to the ground, thus avoiding a deadly energy shot. Felicia, who was knocked to the ground, looked at the doorway with lingering fear, where a large hole had been blasted out: "They've already found us?"

“I’ve probably already found out.” Peter said as he went invisible, glancing at Felicia before disappearing completely: “Remember to take care of yourself, I might not have time to take care of you.”

"Take care of yourself first, Spider-Man. You deal with these guys, I'm going to rescue people."

Peter, who had vanished without a trace, shrugged. Since no one had seen him anyway, he swam into the laboratory, a massive hub spanning several thousand square meters. The creature that had attacked them was dressed like a snake, with arms and legs but a huge snake tail. It had used its tail to fire the laser. "Hello, friend, what's your name? No, never mind, don't tell me, I'm afraid I'll have nightmares."

The Viper Gang members, still keeping an eye on the enemy, suddenly heard a sound very close by. Then, a flash of lightning struck, and they were electrocuted by the high voltage, their orifices emitting smoke. Peter originally planned to rip off the man's tail like he would a scorpion, but that seemed unrealistic. Not only was the tail much more tightly secured than a scorpion's, but several strangely shaped guys also appeared around them: compared to the normal people from the Viper Security Company outside, these guys were simply freaks.

So Peter chose to use the guy's tail as a hammer, hitting several guys in one go before throwing him away. After releasing bio-electricity, his invisibility was also canceled. At this moment, a legless member of the Viper Gang, whose body had been modified with mechanical prosthetics, wrapped his tail around Peter's leg, trying to strangle him.

Not only that, he also raised his hands, and sharp, poisoned blades popped out from his mechanized arms.

"I am the Giant Viper! Prepare to die, Spider-Man!" the Giant Viper roared. "I'm not afraid of your electric shocks."

“Actually, you’re nothing like a snake. You even have two arms.” Peter said, grabbing the blade that the other was swinging down with both hands. He then yanked hard, tearing off the giant viper’s bionic arms. The giant viper let out a painful howl, and Peter ripped them off and tossed them aside. “And now, you’re more like a snake.”

Another Viper Gang super soldier charged forward. Peter threw a punch, which was easily caught by the opponent. The opponent didn't say anything about his code name, but after grabbing Peter's hands, he opened his gaping maw—literally gaping maw, which was clearly a result of mutation, larger than Peter's entire head.

"My God, do you guys never brush your teeth? What's your code name? Stinky Snake?"

Peter kicked the other man, sending him flying more than ten meters away. He then tossed him aside, used his spider silk to stick to the newly raised automatic turret, and then tore it off, smashing it onto the big-mouthed guy. Despite being hit, the guy was still alive and kicking, and even opened his mouth to bite off the turret.

"Oh... I can't even imagine what you guys usually eat, how can you eat this with such relish?"

Spider-Man! You're mine!

A sudden sound interrupted Peter. He turned to see a woman dressed in brown, or perhaps disguised as a snake, rushing towards him. She had two steel claws implanted in the backs of her hands—simply steel claws.

“Sorry, but you haven’t paid Wolverine’s royalties!” Peter said as he used his webs to stick the other person in, then released bio-electricity to give him an electrotherapy treatment: “Besides, as you know, metals conduct electricity easily.”
