Kobold Wizard's Journal
Chapter 417 Brutal and Elegant
Chapter 417 Brutal and Elegant
Ruger felt that he was probably the most low-key god. From the gods he created to his followers and their dwellings, everything was self-sufficient and did not bother the outside world. At the same time, he was not affected by the outside world. The only thing that was restricted was the speed at which his hair grew.
Obtaining this extraordinary creature, "Za Mao No. 1," is a matter of chance, even though it's not always so appealing. I doubt that even if students come to learn from this little path in the future, it will be difficult to pass it on. After all, the intelligence and spirituality of Za Mao No. 1 solved a fundamental problem. Without it to carry on the tradition, it would be impossible to generate more believers as quickly as it is now.
Ruger chatted casually with Lord Isaac on the back of the pack animal, gradually gaining a better understanding of the island and the demon-hunting event.
Meanwhile, the God of Knowledge was also unexpected. He originally wanted to learn more about the Demon Hunter incident, but this middle-aged Lord Isaac mentioned the powerful God of Bread at least once every three sentences. Of course, this was what Ruge thought to himself; he dared not mention the title of God of Bread in front of Isaac.
From the conversation, it was clear that Isaac had completely given up and had no expectations of becoming a wizard. In his words, if it weren't for the legacy left by his teacher, he would not even have been able to reach the fifth level of wizard apprentice. Years of hesitation had made him realize his limitations.
In contrast, Isaac had high expectations for the island's other owner, his old friend who was like a senior in his studies. He always hoped that the other party could fulfill his teacher's expectations, follow his teacher's path, and go even further.
The report of this demon-hunting incident stemmed more from concern than fear.
Looking at him, Ruger realized that this guy had noticed something was wrong but hadn't thought about solving it for years. He guessed that his old friend would be happy to see him do something against the rules as long as he could become a wizard, and he would keep his secret.
As they talked, Ruger also discovered something interesting: Lord Isaac seemed to regard them as saviors.
When things get really bad, witchers often need to resolve the problem cleanly and efficiently rather than play the role of a savior.
The pack animals were jolted and bumped.
Ruger glanced at the wizard Gillian.
Your Excellency Isaac is likely to be disappointed.
According to the kobolds' amazing ability to judge people, if the wizard Zorn were here, there's a slight possibility that the most unreliable person might actually do something unnecessary. Moreover, the wizard Zorn's greater strength would allow him to handle certain situations with composure.
As for the taciturn wizard Gillian, she was somewhat unpredictable, but Ruger felt that she was not someone who liked to do unnecessary things. Her slightly lower strength level than the wizard Zorn would also make her more cautious. Her actions would definitely be aimed at solving the problem completely, especially since she had three apprentices with her this time.
The target location has not yet been reached, but the territory has already been entered.
The styles of villages and towns have also changed significantly.
The houses were low and the village smelled terrible, as if people were living in mud.
The terrain and environment are also very different from the other side of the island; you can no longer see any rocks in the surrounding area.
Despite living in terrible conditions and not appearing to be well-fed and clothed, some exceptionally tall and strong people could be seen.
Ruger observed the wizard Gillian from time to time. He figured that this wizard must be able to see more and had a clear understanding of the situation. All they, the apprentices, needed to do was follow her and obey her orders.
The middle-aged apprentice, named Isaac, was using lightness spells on the two pack animals along the way to make them run faster.
Until a strangely shaped ancient castle appeared before them.
It looked like an ugly thing built by hollowing out a low mountain; it was really crooked.
"Sir, this is it."
Isaac dismounted from his pack animal and approached the wizard Gillian. "Years ago, when he dealt with the invaders, he only watched from afar... Come to think of it, it's been decades since I've truly spoken with him..." Isaac sighed.
Ruger could sense his concern for his old friend.
At the same time, Luger could also see that Lady Gillian's expression did not change at all.
The group walked at a leisurely pace, with Isaac leading the way and knocking on the castle gate.
“I originally had the right of way, but when I came to inform him of the funeral, I tried to insert several magic stones, but there was no reaction. That's when I realized... my arcane mark could no longer open the outermost door…”
Isaac said, standing quietly to the side and waiting.
According to the rules among wizards, waiting is an essential etiquette. After all, meditation and experiments cannot always be stopped, and at crucial moments of some experiments, there is not even time to exchange messages.
Therefore, wizards usually have some trusted followers or highly intelligent magical pets. Some wizards who like to live in the wild will even build a visitor's cabin outside their residence for visitors to wait for, since higher-level wizards may need to spend several years on a single attempt.
This was Luger's first time experiencing these things, and he found everything novel and interesting. He followed the group, looking around and waiting quietly.
Looking at the fairly nice scenery around me, I even had the idea of brewing a pot of special fruit tea.
Suddenly, a comb flew in front of everyone and hovered there.
The taciturn wizard Gillian looked at her middle-aged apprentice, Isaac.
“You haven’t said how your wife died,” Gillian said softly. “Have you seen her body?”
The short, stout Isaac was stunned. Anyone who could become a wizard apprentice, even if they weren't very talented, wouldn't be a fool.
Sometimes it's more about not wanting to believe it.
Ruger's lips curled up slightly; things seemed to be getting interesting.
The wizard Gillian suddenly glanced at him, and Ruger, somewhat puzzled, smiled in response.
"You all wait here and don't let him run around."
Gillian said as she walked forward.
The comb that had flown to the crowd earlier suddenly flew towards the castle's heavy gate. With a gentle stroke from top to bottom, the tall gate, made of unknown metal, flipped open to both sides, as if an invisible hand had torn it apart.
Ruger's mouth gaped slightly as he recalled the comb that was always waving in front of him. He thought that the guy was at least gentle, at least he could distinguish friend from foe.
Gradually, the figure of the wizard Gillian disappeared into the darkness of the castle with unhurried steps, leaving only a series of footsteps.
Ruger glanced at Mahama, the big man who was also staring at the door that had been forcibly and elegantly opened.
