Chapter 328 Dagger and Spirit Hair
Chapter 328 Dagger and Spirit Hair
As Luger pondered, the bald man beside him was secretly observing him, but Luger completely ignored him.
“You may think I’m making excuses for him,” the frail old man said after a pause, “but my guess is based on evidence. That dagger… appeared out of nowhere. It wasn’t something he wanted to pick up. Haya simply took a nap, and when he woke up… the dagger was in his hand…”
An elderly man, panting heavily, kept saying some unbelievable things.
These are the thoughts written on the faces of several divinely gifted individuals.
The expressions of the divinely inspired individuals varied. Some were clearly disbelieving. They may have seen people being summoned by other gods in their dreams, but they had never seen a real dagger delivered directly to their hands. It was utterly inexplicable.
Ruger looked at their expressions and smiled slightly.
Although he didn't find it particularly absurd, he still believed that the old man was hiding something, or that he wasn't telling the whole truth, or that what he said was true but concealed some information.
“That dagger, rusty and with decayed nicks on both sides, looked like it might break at any moment… My son Haya, from his hearty laughter to his weeping pleas for help,” the old man said slowly, as if he had finally found a suitable pace so as not to tire himself out, “that dagger he could never let go of made him grow thin… At first, I thought it was sorrow and fear tormenting him, but then I saw the nicks on the dagger become intact, and the rust gradually disappear… and then I realized that it was that dagger that was eating my Haya…”
As the old man spoke, he raised his trembling hand and slowly pulled open his loose-fitting clothes.
A shocking wound was displayed on his somewhat emaciated chest, which surprised even the well-informed and combat-savvy God-given individuals. Part of the wound was even turned outwards.
"This is what it looks like after treatment. It's very difficult to heal. It was even more alarming a couple of days ago, haha..."
The old man spoke weakly, then chuckled helplessly twice, followed by a burst of rapid breathing.
After his breathing had calmed down, the elderly Sir Wagler gently tapped the armrest of his chair twice.
The butler, who had been waiting in the darkness, brought over a large plate, his hands trembling.
“I can’t do anything that would be impolite, so… I’ll show you.”
The old gentleman waved his hand as he spoke.
The butler uncovered the items, revealing them to everyone.
It was a mangled head, with wide-open eyes and a distorted face, still retaining the terror of knowing one was about to die.
The divinely gifted individuals exchanged glances, their expressions shifting rapidly.
“This…this sir, is a powerful divine being who arrived before you. I ultimately accepted his advice and decided to cut off Haya’s hand,” the old man said, taking a few deep breaths, seemingly somewhat agitated. “But…you have already seen the result, and it wasn’t Haya’s fault…Gentlemen, I am glad you came, but if any of you have other important matters to attend to, you may leave first…After all, my son Haya can only see about three people a day…”
As the old gentleman spoke, he slowly pulled up his loose collar.
Those slow movements were waiting for their choice.
The frail old man, with his slow movements, gave people a sense of perseverance.
For a moment, the high and mighty God-given beings hesitated, as if they had been pulled down from their heights by the contents of the plate, and stood on the ground, standing before the old and frail Sir Waglen. When a truly irresistible force appeared, they were no different from the frail old man before them.
Ruger glanced at the person next to him, and noticed that the bald man had the loudest heartbeat, despite his fierce and intimidating appearance.
For a moment, only the sound of breathing could be heard in the hall.
Clearly, things have changed significantly from what they had initially thought.
But after waiting for a while, no one stepped forward to withdraw; instead, everyone's attention was focused on Ruger.
Ruger smiled slightly, feeling the occasional glances he was being secretly cast his way.
These guys were clearly seeing his assertive demeanor earlier and wanted to see how he would react after meeting with that young master Haya before making their own plans.
"Then, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you gentlemen. No matter the outcome, you have given me hope. You are all great people." After the frail old man finished speaking, he took two more deep breaths and gently tapped the armrest of his chair.
The butler, who had just left a moment ago, reappeared.
Everyone looked at each other.
Ruger was the first to stand up.
He was still thinking about the assessment. This so-called assessment should not be too easy, but it shouldn't be too difficult either, since they were still just wizard apprentices.
Then a middle-aged woman who looked stern stood up, and the last one was the tall, bald man next to Ruger.
"Everyone, please come with me."
Seeing that there were already three people, the butler bowed his head and turned to lead the way.
"Wait, let's go take a look too. Of course, we won't disturb you."
One of the divine beings on the sofa suddenly spoke.
The butler stopped and first looked back at Luger and the other two, then turned back to look at the frail old man sitting upright with a troubled expression.
The old man nodded.
The butler gestured again, walking ahead on the right, half a body length ahead of him to lead the way.
The tall, bald man glared at the several divine beings following behind him as he walked.
“Young Master Haya lives in the garden. The lady used to love those flowers, so the master built a house there… After what happened to Young Master Haya, the master settled him there.”
The butler briefly explained the destination of the trip.
As for the so-called garden, it seemed to Ruger that it had not been carefully maintained.
The group walked along the garden path, where some stubborn little grasses had already sprouted from the cracks in the bricks, making a crunching sound when stepped on. Soon, a two-story building came into view. Unlike the other buildings in Sir Wagler's house, this building was white, although it looked somewhat mottled and faded.
"Gentlemen, this is the place."
As the butler spoke, he arrived at the door of the small building, but did not rush to open it.
Ruger walked slowly to the door without the slightest humility or hesitation.
He decided to accept everything: the limited time he could be lucid, the ability to see a maximum of three people a day.
The butler suddenly spoke as he opened the door.
"Sir, may I ask the name of the church you believe in and follow?" the butler asked softly.
Ruger smiled slightly. Was he preparing to collect the body?
"I come from the great Temple of the Spirit Hair God. All creatures with hair in the world are blessed by our god, including humans. Although some may have less hair, in our land... the more hair one has, the thicker and more abundant it is, the more powerful one is..."
Ruger spoke up, grinning as he made up a story.
The butler who opened the door and the God-given people standing nearby were all taken aback upon hearing this, as if they had never heard of such a God and church before.
But as they looked at Luger's furry head, they nodded subconsciously, finding his words very reasonable. Luger sensed their amazement, turned around, and gave them a smile—the smile of a strong person. After all, according to him, with his amount of fur, he must be a well-known strong person in the church.
