Chapter 1247
As can be seen from the comics, Jason behaves like a child who lacks love, both before and after his first death, which is closely related to his upbringing.
As mentioned before, with his mother dying young, his father in prison, and his immature self, Jason seems to have never experienced love since birth.
So ever since being adopted by Batman, Jason has unconsciously placed the role of father on Bruce and tried his best to hold onto this love.
This is why the Joker's "joke" went so far this time. Like a fatal joke, it has indeed left an almost irreparable wound in the hearts of a group of people.
That period was nothing short of hell for Jason. The Joker's torment was secondary; the real victims were Batman and his biological mother.
That's right, Jason's mother didn't actually die, or rather, his biological mother didn't die, and the Joker used this to deceive him.
While being tortured, Jason had only one thought in his mind: Batman would definitely come back to save him. This was his mental support, but even that was destroyed.
The Joker's attack on Jason was comprehensive, destroying both his body and his spirit.
His father and mother betrayed him at the same time, and no matter how it happened, that was the only thing Jason felt before he died.
Jason is a very sentimental person, which led to the creation of the Red Hood.
So, if Jason is given enough love, he is actually a great kid.
Perfect timing. Yang Le doesn't have much else to offer; he's been spending all his time taking care of the kids lately. Plus, he's seen so many negative examples, so doing the opposite should be enough.
"Have you eaten yet?" Yang Le asked as he drove the luxury car sponsored by Wayne Group off the Gotham Bridge.
“No, but I’m not hungry yet,” Jason replied curtly. It wasn’t that he was ungrateful; he simply hadn’t yet been able to accept the affection he was feeling.
"Okay, then let's go home first." Yang Le nodded. "If you get hungry, order takeout, or I'll cook for you."
"You can cook?" Jason was somewhat shocked. In his mind, the only thing a father would do for his children was to give them a beating.
Jason's dad only ever threw him a few loaves of bread. Luckily, Jason lived in modern society and didn't get to eat that kind of dry, hard black bread. But even the best bread would become hard to swallow if you ate too much of it.
“The men in our area generally know how to cook,” Yang Le stated. “And now the internet is so developed, you can find recipes online for anything you want to make.”
"As long as you don't come up with any crazy ideas or tricks, and you follow the recipe exactly, it's hard to make the food taste bad."
Jason fell silent. The internet? He didn't even have a cell phone of his own. His only two sources of information were television on the street and what he heard from others.
As for newspapers? Sorry, I haven't been to school for very long, so there are some words I don't understand.
...
Batman prepared an apartment for them—don't misunderstand, not an entire apartment building, although he is indeed capable of doing such a thing.
This wasn't a particularly high-end apartment building. Batman chose it because it had 24-hour security, ensuring safety, and the surrounding area was well-equipped and easily accessible. Of course, these combined features meant the rent skyrocketed, but that was never a problem for Batman; he simply paid a price the landlord couldn't refuse and bought the apartment.
"The security here only recognizes cards, not people," Yang Le explained to Jason in the elevator.
"There are only two cards in this apartment, one is my main card and the other is your sub-card. Without the card, you can't even get into the apartment building, let alone take the elevator."
Jason noticed this on the way; there were two doors to the apartment building. Of course, only the inner door required a card; the outer door could be entered simply by pushing it open.
"I've put your card in your room, remember to keep it safe."
Jason nodded in agreement, and during that time the elevator arrived at its destination floor, the tenth floor.
Following Yang Le's footsteps to the front door, Jason silently memorized the house number so that he wouldn't be embarrassed by going to the wrong house in the future.
Yang Le also pushed open the door during this time. To be honest, it was his first time in this apartment building, so he was not familiar with the place.
The first word to describe it is simplicity. It lacks the old London Union Jack vibe of Gotham City. The room's design is the kind that ordinary people would use, with nothing particularly noteworthy.
However, Yang Le knew that after Batman bought the place, he cleverly moved all the neighbors away for a period of time, and then carried out a complete renovation of the house.
Although it looks like an ordinary apartment, it has been fully equipped in every aspect, since he originally intended to use it as a safe house.
The room is not big, just two bedrooms, one living room and two bathrooms, one master bedroom and one secondary bedroom. One of the bathrooms is inside the master bedroom and is a private bathroom.
The other bathroom is located next to the second bedroom and is a shared bathroom. However, both bathrooms have separate shower rooms for wet and dry areas. The kitchen and living room are connected.
"That's your room," Yang Le said, pointing to the second bedroom. "Everything is ready, but if you need anything, just let me know and I'll buy it for you when I have time."
"Go tidy yourself up now, change out of your old clothes, and take a good shower."
Jason knew his clothes were practically worn out, so he hurried toward his room. But as soon as he opened the bedroom door, he froze.
It's no wonder Jason acted like he'd never seen the world before; the conditions here are just too good.
Besides the bed and wardrobe that a bedroom must have, there is also a desk. The desk is so big that you can even put a small bookshelf and a monitor on it. Following the data cable behind the monitor, you can see the computer tower under the desk.
Not only that, there is also a display shelf next to the wardrobe. The shelf has five layers and is almost level with the wardrobe. On the top layer, there is a baseball bat and a baseball, all of which are signed.
Jason took a closer look, and to his surprise, it was Baby Ruth's signature.
It's important to know that this man, known as the God of Baseball, is a figure from the last century. His fame, the passage of time, and the death of the autographed owner all combined to create an astronomical price.
Jason didn't expect Yang Le to put fake things here, not for any other reason than the latter's Justice League work ID.
