Chapter 1246 Adopting Jason Todd
Jason thought that the Batmobile looked very valuable, and even if he couldn't steal the whole vehicle, he could still sell one or two parts for a lot of money.

Furthermore, once he spreads the word that he dared to steal the Batmobile, his reputation will be known throughout the underworld. Not only in Gotham, but in the entire world, there are very few people who would dare to steal the Batmobile.

He'll definitely have tons of orders coming his way, which will not only help him get through the winter comfortably, but might even give his kids a completely different life.

But now things are different. The orders are definitely gone, but Jason is definitely going to live a different life.

Jason learned for the first time at the police station that his father was in jail. Because of multiple charges, he would definitely not be able to get out for a while.

Jason, who is essentially an orphan, only has two paths to take due to his age.

The first option is to enter an orphanage or a special school.

Secondly, if someone is willing to adopt him, he can live with his adoptive parents until he reaches adulthood.

Both of these options are impossible for Jason. The first is that Jason himself is unwilling to do it, as many of the children in his gang have escaped from orphanages and special schools.

There may be good people there, but sometimes a single bad apple spoils the whole bunch. In Gotham, it's not surprising to find all sorts of perverts, including those who enjoy child abuse.

Such people are usually very good at hiding, and few people are willing to believe what children say. In addition, those perverts will come to cause trouble from time to time, and those who can't stand it all run away.

Jason wasn't about to invite trouble, and he definitely wasn't going to the orphanage.

The second one seemed even more impossible to Jason. What idiot would be willing to adopt a troubled child from downtown with a criminal record?

Such good things don't happen in fairy tales.

Jason Todd.

Jason, who was lost in thought, heard someone call his name and instinctively looked up to see a burly police officer.

"Come out, someone wants to adopt you."

The impossible has indeed happened.

...

Jason sat uneasily in the back seat, warily eyeing the Asian face in the driver's seat—the man who had adopted him.

Just now, when Jason was taken to a meeting room by the police officer, he met for the first time the guy he had called an idiot in his mind, a person who was willing to adopt a delinquent child.

At first glance, he doesn't seem particularly special. His face might be considered handsome among Asians, but Jason, being a frog in a well, doesn't really understand. He only knows that he looks quite pleasing to the eye.

He has a good physique; you can tell at a glance that he's a clothes hanger. Even in a large trench coat, he doesn't look bulky, proving that the man in front of you must have a great physique, at least a muscular build.

Jason, who often roams the streets, has long since developed the ability to read people. He can roughly deduce a person's characteristics from their appearance, clothing, and expression.

After a few glances, Jason could tell that the Asian man in front of him was well-educated, wealthy, and very confident.

Logically speaking, someone like this should never have had any contact with Jason in their entire life, so I really don't know why they adopted them.

Jason also learned the name of the man who adopted him from the police: Yang Le. "What are you thinking about?"

Jason was surprised that the man would suddenly break the silence, and without saying a word, he even shifted his gaze to the outside of the car window.

They're already on the Gotham Bridge. Once they cross this bridge, they'll leave Gotham City, Jason's hometown, and head to a brand new city called Metropolis.

This instilled a sense of fear in Jason; for a child, leaving a familiar environment for an unfamiliar place is indeed a terrifying thing.

"Are you afraid of the new environment?" Yang Le guessed Jason's thoughts accurately. "Don't worry, Metropolis is a great city. At least there are very few gangs there. You'll like it."

"Of course, if your wish is to join the mafia, then disregard what I said."

“If joining a gang is someone’s dream, then that person has it for life,” Jason said coldly. If it weren’t for making a living, who would want to be a petty thief?
“To be honest, that’s true.” Yang Le chimed in. “So what’s your dream? I heard you removed the tires from Batman’s vehicle, that’s quite an achievement.”

Jason didn't reply, but Yang Le still saw the corners of his mouth curl up in the rearview mirror. Clearly, the boy was very proud of this.

“I’m serious,” Yang Le said earnestly. “Even the Justice League wouldn’t have many members who would dare to do this.”

“You’re not a member of the Justice League, how would you know about this?” Jason curled his lip in disdain; he hated people who boasted.

Yang Le didn't say anything, but took out an ID card from his shirt pocket and tossed it to Jason without turning around. Jason picked it up and saw a big picture of Yang Le on it, with the Justice League logo printed below.

"Unfortunately, that is me, except I'm not a superhero, but a staff member of the Justice League."

This thing was given to him by Batman at the beginning, as a pretext to pay him a salary. After all, the Justice League's account was used to pay Yang Le's salary, and the financial transactions needed to be clear.

Yang Le's public identity is also this, and based on this, he is no longer considered unemployed, even though he hadn't gone to work for a period of time.

"You probably guessed it already, Batman asked me to adopt you," Yang Le said directly.

However, he still concealed some things. He only said that he was a staff member, but did not say that he was one of the core members of the Justice League at this stage, since Jason was not suitable to have access to this information at the moment.

Making him think he's just a nobody is a good thing for both Jason and him.

"However, after learning about your story, I did consider adopting you myself."

"Is there any difference between the two?" Jason quietly placed his employee ID card on the front seat.

“The difference is huge.” Yang Le noticed Jason’s subtle movements and said with a smile.

“Batman’s request is a mission, but if I adopt you myself, it means our relationship will become more pure.”

“You are my adopted son, and I am your adoptive father. You can call me Dad directly, I don’t mind.”

Yang Le's left and right straight punches caught Jason off guard. After all, he was just a child who lacked love, and it was difficult for him to withstand such a direct attack.
