Chapter 170 Dehel's Awakening
Tanes and the others returned safely to the Black Gate, but the Orks did not retreat at the sight of the high wall as usual. Instead, they all charged fiercely at the city gate below.

Even though these hundreds of Orcs were still being preyed upon from the darkness by Shiro from time to time, emitting terrified screams, not a single Orc dared to retreat a single step.

Because Zoro's order before leaving was for them to pursue Tanes, these poor dark creatures had no way to disobey Zoro's command until they achieved this goal or lost their lives.
The rangers kept shooting arrows and throwing irregular, heavy stones from the city walls, while the Orks, who had no siege equipment and could only rely on the broken iron pieces on their bodies and the rusty swords in their hands to resist, were almost wiped out in a very short time, plunging the area outside the city back into darkness.

Only the occasional rustling sound of some large creature moving and the sound of flesh and bones being chewed came from below; it was the Shira devouring the remains of the Orks.

However, it was clear that Tanes didn't have the energy to deal with the giant spider hiding below and stealing food. After confirming that the surroundings were safe, he quickly drank the Red Dewdrop Holy Grail Bottle, then took out a crystal that shone with blue starlight from his spatial backpack with a pained expression, raised his head and crushed it, swallowing the crystal fragments.

Starlight Fragments are items that Tanes uses to urgently restore his magic power.

Although he had collected quite a lot at the border, these are now non-renewable resources, and every one used is one less available, so Tanes was still a little heartbroken.

Behind Tanes, Melina also drank the blessing from the Red Dewdrop Chalice to restore her strength.

Tanes looked at her and said with some relief, "It's good that you're here, Melina. If I were alone, I probably would have fallen into their trap."

Melina put her hood back on, and after carefully examining Tanes to make sure he was not injured anywhere else, she replied softly, "At first I was indeed affected by Zoro's words, but I quickly got rid of them, probably because my body was reshaped by the Golden Tree using the Golden Blessing."

Before Tanes could say anything, Talion asked in a trembling voice, as if confirming something, "You were down there just now... are you sure that black-armored giant was Sauron?"

When he first came to Tanes' aid, he didn't see Sauron's appearance clearly because of the light. He just subconsciously thought that the only enemy who could make a powerful wizard like Tanes so wary was an enemy like Sauron.

Now that he has realized what happened, he is immediately shaken.

Sauron, a name that cannot be avoided in Middle-earth, wasn't he already defeated long ago?

That's why Talion couldn't help but ask the two of them to confirm after hearing Melina mention the name again.

Tanes didn't think much of it and nodded in reply: "It must be Zoro without a doubt. Unless you know of another enemy as powerful as Zoro who can impersonate him, I can't think of anyone else who could easily neutralize my combat technique... witchcraft."

He thought for a moment and replaced the word "combat skill" with "witchcraft," which was more familiar to Talion, to make it easier for Talion to understand his words.

Talion's expression changed several times before finally becoming serious, prompting the somewhat confused Tanes to ask curiously, "What's wrong, Talion? If you're worried about Zoro attacking, don't worry, with me here, he won't harm the Black Gate in the slightest."

Upon hearing Tanes's words, Talion gave a wry smile and shook his head: "You misunderstand, Lord Tanes. I do not doubt your strength..." Then, as if remembering something, he suddenly realized: "Ah, I have heard that you came here from outside Middle-earth to rebuild your homeland, so you do not know what Sauron's appearance means for Middle-earth."

Tanes scratched his head: "I only know him from Gandalf. You should know him, right? I only know Sauron's name from him, and that he is the enemy that Gandalf has always worried about causing great harm to Middle-earth."

Talion nodded. "The old wizard? Of course I know him, and what he told you is true. In any case, I must get the news of Sauron's reappearance in Mordor to the nations of Gondor, as well as to the elves and dwarves, as soon as possible."

Upon hearing this, Tanes realized the importance of Sauron's appearance to Middle-earth, and his expression became solemn: "I also have something to discuss with the Regent in Gondor, so we can go together."

Talion nodded, then shook his head, saying regretfully, "Although I would very much like to go to Gondor with you, Sauron's appearance in Mordor is too important, and the Black Gate is the first line of defense against his army. I must stay here to oversee the situation. However, the matter is extremely urgent, and I'm afraid I will have to trouble you and Lady Melina to depart for Gondor tonight."

Tanes and Melina exchanged a glance and nodded to each other, then said to Talion, "It's alright, we're used to traveling."

Talion said gratefully, "Thank you."

Then he looked up and called to his son Dehel, who was not far away, "Dehel! You go with Lord Tanes and Lord Melina, carrying my token, to Gondor to report the situation in Mordor to His Excellency the Regent!"

Dehail immediately ran over, first giving Tanes and Melina a respectful look, before asking his father, "Father, what happened? Are we leaving now?"

Talion glanced at the rangers who were approaching, took a deep breath, and said to Dehail, "Sauron has appeared."

Dehail's pupils dilated in shock. Just like his father, he realized the seriousness of the matter and immediately took action: "I'll go pack my things right away."

Tanes didn't have to wait long before Dehair quickly packed his belongings. He simply brought some change of coarse clothes, dry food, and his father's keepsake, and hurriedly led his horse to Tanes and Melina.

Dehail was still a little nervous in front of Tanes, the 'wizard,' and said, 'Sorry to keep you waiting.'

Tanes smiled gently, easing Dehel's tension, and said, "Your style is very similar to your father's. The shortcut to Gondor depends entirely on you. I will protect your safety."

To Tanes's surprise, Dehel first thanked him, then shook his head and said, "I am very grateful for your protection, but if you really encounter trouble that even you find difficult, Master, I beg you not to hesitate to abandon me, take my father's keepsake, and make sure to bring the news of Sauron's appearance to the kingdoms of Gondor."
