"All units, prepare for a counterattack," Lynn warned.

Sure enough, in less than thirty seconds, a large number of armed personnel poured out of the base. These soldiers, controlled by the symbiote, wore full tactical gear, carried advanced weapons, and moved in perfect unison, just like a well-trained elite force.

Their professionalism was evident from the very first volley. Bullets were precisely aimed at Lynn's team's positions, each one targeting vital organs. Had it not been for the team members' superpowers and extensive combat experience, the first volley could have resulted in casualties.

"Their shooting accuracy is too high," Carlos reported while maintaining the energy barrier, "Everyone is as accurate as a sniper!"

“That’s the terrifying thing about the combination of symbiotes and professional soldiers,” Lynn analyzed as he retorted. “They not only possess human skills, but also superhuman physical abilities!”

Peter attempted to bypass the enemy's fire from the air, but was immediately met with precise anti-aircraft fire.

"They predicted my route!" Peter exclaimed, barely dodging a burst of machine gun fire. "It was like they knew where I was going!"

“Because they share information,” Emma explained as she unleashed her freezing attack, “one individual sees your action, and all the others know!”

The battle was exceptionally fierce. The symbiote-controlled soldiers were not only accurate marksmen, but their tactical coordination was also impeccable. They employed standard military tactics: fire support, flanking maneuvers, and alternating advances, behaving exactly like a regular army.

“We can’t stay here any longer,” Lynn realized he had to change tactics. “We must quickly capture the target building and establish a defensive position!”

“But their firepower is too strong,” Emily said worriedly. “It will be very difficult for us to break through!”

“Then let’s create an opportunity,” Lynn decided. “Everyone, listen to my command, let’s launch a coordinated attack!”

He began directing the team in complex tactical maneuvers. Chen Kai used teleportation to create chaos in the enemy lines, Peter dropped flashbangs from the air to disrupt vision, Emma used ice walls to block some of the firepower, and Carlos's energy barrier provided mobile cover for the team.

Despite these multiple obstacles, Lynn, along with Emily and Alex, successfully made their way to the target building. But just as they were about to arrive, an unexpected threat appeared.

Three distinct enemies burst from inside the building. They were not ordinary soldiers, but high-ranking officers—based on their ranks, likely colonels and majors. But even more terrifying was the fact that they were clearly controlled by a more advanced symbiote.

“Watch out! Those are elite units!” Sarah shouted a warning.

Indeed, these three senior officers demonstrated combat capabilities far exceeding those of ordinary soldiers. They moved faster, reacted more sharply, and seemed able to anticipate the tactical intentions of Lynn's team.

The first colonel charged straight at Lynn, displaying astonishing close-combat skills. Each of his strikes was precise and deadly, clearly incorporating a variety of fighting techniques. Lynn found himself having to use all his combat skills to contend with him.

"This guy's skills are too versatile," Lynn analyzed while parrying, "like an officer who combines several different specialties!"

Another major attacked Chen Kai, demonstrating a deep understanding of teleportation abilities. He seemed able to predict Chen Kai's location, with an attack waiting after each teleportation.

"It learned my ability patterns!" Chen Kai exclaimed in shock. "It's like someone gave it all my combat data!"

The third officer then engaged Peter in aerial combat. Incredibly, this human controlled by the symbiote was able to fly short distances, clearly a combination of the symbiote's abilities and human military skills.

The battle had reached a fever pitch. Although Lynn's team was experienced, they clearly felt the pressure facing these enemies who combined symbiote abilities with military expertise.

“We need to change tactics,” Lynn shouted during the battle. “Alex, can you try communicating with them?”

“I’ll give it a try,” Alex said, focusing his attention as he tried to make contact with the nearest symbiote.

But the result shocked everyone. Alex suddenly clutched his head in anguish, "They...they're attacking my mind!"

"What?" Emily immediately went to check on Alex.

“These symbiotes not only refuse to communicate, but they also actively attack anything that tries to approach their consciousness,” Alex said painfully. “It’s like there’s a mental firewall!”

"That means a peaceful solution is impossible," Lynn realized. "We have no choice but to use force!"

Just then, the sound of more reinforcements came from deep within the base. At least twenty soldiers were rapidly approaching their position, and judging from the sounds of their equipment, they included heavy weapons.

"This is bad," Carlos's energy barrier began to crack, "My barrier won't hold for much longer!"

“Emma, can we block their reinforcement routes?” Lynn asked.

“I’ll give it a try,” Emma unleashed powerful freezing energy, creating an ice wall along the main path leading to the building. But worryingly, the ice wall was attacked by some kind of high-energy weapon as soon as it formed and began to melt rapidly.

“They have energy weapons!” Emma warned.

“Damn it, where did these symbiotes get such advanced technology?” Peter asked as he dodged attacks in the air.

“Perhaps the knowledge came from controlled military scientists,” Dr. Banner replied via communicator. “Remember, this base has not only combat personnel, but also a large number of technical experts!”

The situation was becoming increasingly unfavorable. Although Lynn's team members were individually highly skilled, they were clearly outnumbered and poorly equipped. More importantly, the enemy's coordination and professionalism far exceeded their expectations.

“We must capture that building,” Lynn said resolutely. “Even if it costs us, we must establish a foothold!”

He made a risky decision to charge directly at the strongest enemy, a colonel, in preparation for a decisive battle.

The battle between the two was exceptionally fierce. The colonel, controlled by the symbiote, clearly combined the skills and experience of multiple officers; every move was precise and deadly. But Lynn's combat experience and physical abilities were equally outstanding, and he had one advantage: unpredictability.

“You alien parasites,” Lynn said during the battle, “think you can defeat humanity just because you’ve acquired human knowledge, but you’ll never understand the true power of humankind!”

The colonel-level symbiote did not respond, but its attacks became even more frenzied. Clearly, Lynn's words had angered it.

Just as the two sides were locked in a stalemate, unexpected reinforcements arrived. Gunshots and explosions rang out from inside the building, indicating that an attack had been launched from within.

"What is that?" Emily asked, puzzled.

“Perhaps it’s one of our international allies,” Chen Kai guessed. “Other special forces may have already broken through other lines of defense!” But they soon discovered the truth. Several people dressed in Brazilian military uniforms rushed out of the building, but their behavior was clearly different from that of the soldiers being controlled.

"Those are normal humans!" Sarah reported excitedly after sensing them. "They are not controlled by the symbiote!"

As Alex learned from Zeta, there were indeed some soldiers within the base who refused to be controlled by the symbiote. They were being held in a medical facility, but after the external attack began, they managed to escape and launch a counterattack from within.

"This is an opportunity!" Lynn decided immediately. "Let's coordinate with our allies inside to launch a pincer attack on these symbiotes!"

The battle situation began to change. Although the symbiote-controlled soldiers still had an advantage in numbers and equipment, they now had to deal with attacks from both the outside and inside simultaneously, making coordination difficult.

Lynn seized the opportunity and launched a final attack on the colonel-level symbiote. Taking advantage of the moment when the target was distracted, he successfully struck the target with a specially made nerve agent injector.

The potent toxin immediately took effect, and the symbiote's control began to weaken. Human consciousness began to appear in the colonel's eyes, though only briefly, but enough.

“Stop them!” the colonel managed to utter a few words before being regained control of the symbiote. But this brief moment of lucidity had given Lynn crucial information.

“They’re afraid of something,” Lynn realized. “What that colonel was trying to tell us!”

Just then, a human officer's voice came from inside the building: "This is Major Ramos of the Brazilian Army. Thank you for your assistance! We have important intelligence!"

“This is Lynn Hall, FBI Special Operations,” Lynn responded. “We need to take over this area as a base!”

“Agreed! We have control of the building’s interior and can provide you with cover!” Major Ramos replied.

With coordinated efforts from both inside and outside, Lynn's team finally succeeded in capturing the target building. It was a two-story concrete structure, originally a vehicle repair shop, which had been partially modified by the symbiote, but the main structure remained sturdy and suitable as a defensive stronghold.

"Everyone, get into the building and establish defensive positions," Lynn ordered.

They quickly seized key positions in the building: Peter controlled the roof, responsible for observation and remote support; Chen Kai and Carlos controlled the main entrance, Emma was responsible for flank defense, Emily set up a temporary medical station, and Alex exchanged intelligence with Major Ramos and other surviving soldiers.

"How is the situation?" Lynn asked Major Ramos.

Ramos, an officer in his forties, bore obvious signs of fatigue and trauma, but his eyes remained resolute. "It's bad, sir. Ninety percent of the personnel on base are under infection control. There are only about thirty of us survivors left, hiding in the basement of the medical facility."

"Are you familiar with the situation inside the base?"

“I know a little,” Ramos nodded. “The symbiotes have transformed the command center into some kind of central nervous system, through which all the controlled personnel coordinate. And they’ve established production facilities in the armory, manufacturing some weapons I’ve never seen before.”

"What kind of weapons should we produce?" Dr. Banner asked through the communicator.

“It looks like a biological weapon, but it has high-tech features,” Ramos described. “I’ve seen some tests where those weapons could launch some kind of biological missile that would release a large number of symbiotic spores upon hitting a target.”

This information shocked everyone.

“If they are indeed mass-producing biological weapons,” Emily analyzed, “they could release symbiotic infections throughout Brasilia, or even further.”

“We must stop them,” Lynn said firmly, “but first we must hold our ground here.”

No sooner had the words left his mouth than the sounds of numerous vehicles and footsteps echoed outside the building. Clearly, the symbiote was organizing a large-scale counterattack.

"Everyone prepare for battle," Lynn commanded. "They're coming to take back this position."

Looking out the window, you can see at least fifty fully armed soldiers surrounding the building, along with heavy equipment such as armored vehicles and heavy machine guns.

“There are too many,” Carlos said worriedly. “Can we hold them off?”

“We must hold out,” Lynn replied, “not only for our mission, but also for the thirty surviving soldiers.”

The first wave of attacks began quickly. The symbiote-controlled forces displayed standard military tactics: first bombarding the building's exterior walls with heavy firepower, then dispatching assault teams to attack simultaneously from multiple directions.

The building shook violently under the barrage of machine gun fire and grenades, with shards of glass flying everywhere. Lynn's team had to utilize every conceivable cover and angle for defense.

"Peter, target status!" Lynn asked through the communicator.

“A strike team of about twelve men is approaching from the west,” Peter reported from the roof. “There’s also movement from the east, but less in number.”

"Emma, can you slow down the attack from the west?"

“I’ll give it a try,” Emma said, concentrating as she created an ice wall on the west side of the building, but was quickly attacked by rocket launchers.

“They have anti-materiel weapons!” Emma warned.

“Chen Kai, prepare for a counterattack,” Lynn decided to take the initiative. “You and I will fight back while they are reloading!”

The two worked together seamlessly. Chen Kai used teleportation to appear on the enemy's flank, while Lynn launched an attack from the front. After a brief close-quarters battle, they successfully repelled the first wave of attacks.

But this was just the beginning. The symbiotes' attacks became more organized, and they began to use sophisticated tactics, including feints, real attacks, and cover fire.

“They are learning our defense patterns,” Sarah observed. “Each attack is more precise than the last.”

“Then we’ll keep changing the pattern,” Lynn replied, “making it unpredictable.”

The battle lasted two hours. Lynn's team and the surviving soldiers successfully defended the building, but at a heavy cost. Ammunition was depleted, everyone was injured to varying degrees, and most importantly, the symbiote's attack intensity continued to increase.

"Sir," Major Ramos reported breathlessly, "our ammunition is running low. And from what I've observed, they're mobilizing more troops." (End of Chapter)
