"How many troops?" Lynn asked.

“At least two hundred men, and tanks too,” Ramos said gravely. “We can’t hold off the next attack.”

Lynn realized the gravity of the situation. They had indeed captured the stronghold, but without reinforcements, they would soon be overwhelmed by the massive enemy force.

“Contact command,” Lynn told Michael. “We need immediate support.”

“We’re trying, but communications are being disrupted,” Michael reported. “We can only send short distress signals.”

“Then send it,” Lynn decided. “Tell them we’ve held the southeast area, but we need immediate support, or the position will fall.”

Just then, a huge sound came from deep within the base, like some kind of large machine starting up.

"What was that sound?" Emily asked.

Major Ramos's face turned pale. "That's the base's heavy weapons system. If they activated that system..."

"What system?" Lynn asked eagerly.

“A self-propelled howitzer can accurately strike any building,” Ramos explained. “If they attack this building with that gun, we’ll all be blown to bits.”

Lynn looked out the window at the growing number of enemy troops and listened to the increasingly loud mechanical sounds approaching from afar, realizing that they were facing what might be the most dangerous moment of the entire mission.

“Listen up, everyone,” he told his team, “no matter what happens next, we must persevere. This is not only to complete the mission, but also to prove that humanity will not succumb to any aggressor.”

In the distance, the roar of howitzers grew closer, and the symbiote's second large-scale attack was about to begin.

The roar of the howitzer grew closer, and through the broken window, Lynn could see a massive self-propelled howitzer slowly turning toward their position. The barrel was as thick as a tree trunk; clearly, a single shell could level the entire building.

"Everyone prepare to evacuate!" Lynn immediately gave the order. "This outpost cannot be held!"

"Where to retreat to?" Major Ramos asked. "The enemy is everywhere outside!"

“Let’s get out of here first, then we’ll look for an opportunity,” Lynn said, packing his gear as he thought. “Peter, can we find an evacuation route from the rooftop?”

"The north side is relatively weak, but there are still at least twenty enemies," Peter reported after a quick survey of the rooftop. "However, there are some bunkers over there that we can use."

"Chen Kai, teleport to the north side first and clear a path," Lynn instructed. "The rest of you prepare to break out!"

Just then, the howitzer fired its first roar. The huge shell whistled through the air, and although it was only a test shot, the shockwave from the explosion still made the entire building tremble precariously.

"Hurry! The next shot will hit us directly!" Emily shouted.

Lynn's team and thirty surviving soldiers began an emergency evacuation. Chen Kai used his teleportation ability to clear a path ahead, appearing at several key locations and quickly eliminating several sentries with tranquilizer guns and hand-to-hand combat skills.

"The passage is cleared! Come over here quickly!" Chen Kai's voice came through the communicator.

The moment everyone rushed out of the building, a second artillery shell accurately struck their previous position. The massive explosion reduced the entire building to rubble, with debris and steel bars flying everywhere.

"That was close!" Carlos said breathlessly, "A few seconds later and we'd all be done for!"

But they were not out of danger yet. The symbiote-controlled forces immediately adjusted their deployment and began pursuing the fleeing enemy. A barrage of gunfire erupted behind them, bullets whizzing overhead.

"Stay close to me!" Lynn led the charge towards an abandoned oil tank area. "Use these bunkers!"

Among the abandoned oil tanks, Lynn's team was temporarily free from direct fire. But he knew this was only temporary, and the enemy would soon surround them.

“We need a new plan,” Major Ramos said. “We can’t keep passively running away.”

Lynn stood behind an oil storage tank, carefully observing the layout of the entire base. After several hours of fighting and observation, he had gained a considerable understanding of the base's structure.

“Sarah, can you sense the distribution of all the symbiotes within the base?” Lynn asked.

“Roughly,” Sarah focused her attention. “The command center area has the strongest energy concentration, about fifty to sixty individuals. The barracks area has over a hundred. The training grounds are relatively fewer, about twenty.”

"Where's the armory?"

"The armory," Sarah sensed carefully, "Strange, there are very few signs of life there, only about five or six."

This information gave Lynn a bold idea. "Perhaps they think the armory is secure enough and doesn't need heavy guard."

“What are you thinking about?” Peter asked.

Lynn didn't answer directly, but continued to observe the base's layout. Suddenly, he noticed an important detail. Near the armory, there were several manhole covers, and from their current position, they could see that there were no sentries around them.

“I have a plan,” Lynn said, turning to the team, “but it’s dangerous.”

“Tell me,” Emma urged.

“We’ll infiltrate the armory through the sewer system,” Lynn said, pointing to the building in the distance. “If we can detonate the ammunition there, it will not only cripple the symbiotes’ combat capabilities but also create chaos, opening up opportunities for other coalition forces to attack.”

"Detonate the armory?" Major Ramos exclaimed in shock. "It stores the entire base's ammunition, including a large quantity of high explosives. If it all detonates..."

“It will blow up most of the base,” Lynn finished, “which is exactly the effect we need.”

“But how do we evacuate before the explosion?” Emily asked anxiously.

“A time bomb,” Michael understood Lynn’s idea. “I can make a timed detonation device to give us enough time to evacuate.”

How long will it take?

“It takes about ten minutes to build the device, and then we can set a delay of ten to twenty minutes,” Michael calculated.

“That means we have a thirty-minute window,” Lynn concluded, “Infiltrate, install, and withdraw.”

“It sounds feasible, but the risks are huge,” Dr. Banner said through the communicator, “if it’s found inside the armory.”

“Then we’ll be blown up on the spot,” Lynn admitted. “But if we don’t act, we’ll eventually be overwhelmed by the enemy’s numerical superiority.”

“I agree with Lynn’s plan,” Peter supported. “This is our best chance to turn the tide.”

“I agree,” Sarah nodded, “and my senses can help us avoid the enemy.”

The others readily agreed. Major Ramos, though worried, realized this might be their only chance.

“Then let’s begin,” Lynn decided, “but not everyone will go. The armory mission is too dangerous; I’m only taking the core members. Major Ramos, you stay here with the other survivors and hold out. If we succeed, the explosion will create a lot of chaos; use that opportunity to retreat to the outer perimeter.”

“Understood,” Ramos nodded. “Good luck.”

Lynn, Sarah, Chen Kai, Michael, and Emily formed a commando team. Peter, Emma, and Carlos stayed behind to protect the surviving soldiers.

“Remember, once you hear an explosion, move immediately to the perimeter of the base,” Lynn told the remaining team. “We’ll meet up outside the base.” The five-man team began moving towards the nearest manhole cover. They had to cross an open area with absolutely no cover.

“Sarah, what’s the enemy’s distribution?” Lynn asked.

“There’s a patrol team of about four people a hundred meters ahead, moving along a fixed route,” Sarah reported. “We can take advantage of their intervals.”

They waited for the patrol team to pass before rushing towards the target manhole cover. Chen Kai led the way, using teleportation to ensure safety ahead, while the others followed closely behind.

The sewer system was more spacious and relatively clean than expected. Clearly, the base's sewer system was well-maintained.

“According to the base layout map, we need to move about 500 meters northeast,” Michael said, pointing out the way while making the timing device.

“Watch out, there’s a fork in the road,” Lynn said, shining his flashlight ahead. “We’ll take the right path.”

After walking through the sewers for more than ten minutes, Sarah suddenly stopped.

“Wait, there’s movement ahead,” she warned.

"What's that noise?" Lynn asked.

“There are two signs of life right above us,” Sarah pointed to the ceiling. “They must be the armory guards.”

They arrived below the target location. Through the overhead drainage grates, they could vaguely see the interior of the armory.

“The timing device is ready,” Michael said, showing off a small electronic device. “The explosive force is enough to detonate the entire ammunition depot.”

"What should the delay be set to?"

“Twenty minutes is enough time for us to evacuate to a safe distance,” Michael replied.

Now comes the hardest part: how to get into the armory and plant the bomb without alerting the guards.

“I have an idea,” Chen Kai suggested. “I’ll teleport up, quickly subdue the guards, and then you guys follow.”

“That’s too risky, if the guards have time to sound the alarm,” Lynn worried.

“Then I’ll do it,” Emily said, pulling out a tranquilizer gun. “I can shoot them through the drainage grates and make them fall down quietly.”

“But can you guarantee you’ll hit two targets at the same time?” Sarah asked.

“I’ll give it a try,” Emily adjusted her aim.

Through the narrow gaps in the grille, Emily carefully aimed at the two guards. This required extremely high precision, as the tranquilizer darts had to hit both targets simultaneously, leaving no chance for anyone to raise an alarm.

“Three, two, one,” Emily pulled the trigger.

Two tranquilizer darts were fired almost simultaneously, striking the two guards precisely in the neck. They swayed a few times almost at the same time before collapsing to the ground.

"We did it!" Chen Kai exclaimed excitedly.

They quickly opened the drainage grates and climbed into the armory. The sight before them made everyone gasp: the amount of ammunition stored there far exceeded their expectations.

The entire armory was divided into several areas, each filled with different types of weapons and ammunition. There were traditional firearms and ammunition, grenades, rockets, and some that looked like advanced weapon systems.

“My God, there’s enough ammunition here to arm a division,” Michael exclaimed in shock.

“Look over there,” Sarah pointed deeper into the armory, “what are those?”

Deep within the armory, there is a row of special storage cabinets containing strange devices that appear to be a combination of symbiotic technology and human weaponry.

“Those are the biological weapons Ramos mentioned,” Lynn realized, “if these things were deployed to Brasilia.”

“We must make sure they are completely destroyed,” Emily said firmly.

“Time is running out, we need to plant the bomb quickly,” Michael urged.

They began planting bombs in key locations within the armory. Michael selected several locations that could trigger a chain reaction: the main ammunition depot, the fuel storage area, and the storage areas for biological weapons.

“This setup should ensure the entire armory is destroyed,” Michael explained as he worked, “and the force of the explosion will affect adjacent buildings.”

Just as they were about to finish the installation, footsteps were heard outside the armory.

“Someone’s coming,” Sarah warned nervously. “At least six people are approaching.”

“Perhaps it’s a changing guard,” Lynn analyzed. “We must finish quickly and evacuate.”

“Two more minutes,” Michael said, quickening his pace.

The footsteps grew closer, clearly indicating that the people approaching were moving towards the entrance to the armory.

"Hide," Lynn ordered. "We'll figure something out once they come in."

They quickly took cover behind large ammunition boxes, awaiting the approaching enemy.

The armory door was pushed open, and six fully armed soldiers walked in. Their mechanical movements revealed that they were all controlled by the symbiote.

“Check the inventory,” one of the soldiers said, his voice devoid of emotion. “Prepare for the shipment of the second batch of biological weapons.”

"The second batch?" another soldier responded. "When will the first batch be deployed?"

"The target is three densely populated areas in downtown Brasilia early tomorrow morning," the first soldier replied.

This conversation made Lynn and his team even more aware of the urgency of the operation. If the deployment of these biological weapons could not be stopped, the entire population of Brasilia would be threatened with infection.

The soldiers began to disperse and inspect different areas of the armory. Two of them were moving toward the location where Michael was planting a bomb.

“This is bad,” Sarah whispered. “They’re going to find the bomb.”

"I'll lure them away," Chen Kai said, preparing to use teleportation.

“Wait,” Lynn stopped him, “let me do it.”

Lynn made a risky decision. He deliberately made a little noise to attract the attention of two soldiers.

“There’s movement over there,” a soldier said alertly.

Two soldiers began moving towards Lynn's position, while the others continued checking other areas. (End of Chapter)
