Chapter 477: The effects were immediate!
“I agree,” Lynn nodded. “Everyone coordinates the attack; no one holds back.”
The final attack began. Peter used spider silk to restrict the symbiote's movement, Chen Kai used teleportation to launch rapid attacks from all sides, and Carlos used multiple layers of energy barriers to compress the symbiote's space.
Lynn and Emily were in charge of the most crucial part: using all the remaining chemicals to carry out the final biochemical attack.
“Inject all the drugs together!” Emily decided. “Either we successfully separate the symbiote, or…”
“Or what?” Lynn asked.
“Either the host and the symbiote die together,” Emily acknowledged the harsh reality.
“Then we must succeed,” Lynn said firmly.
With the team's coordinated efforts, Emily successfully injected all the remaining chemicals into the symbiote.
A violent chemical reaction immediately began. The symbiote's black substance began to contract and expand violently, and a fierce biochemical conflict occurred inside.
A few minutes later, the black substance began to separate from the host's body. But unlike before, this time it was not a complete symbiote that separated, but several smaller symbiote fragments.
“It split,” Emily observed. “It turns out this symbiote did indeed fuse multiple individuals.”
The separation process was painful, but ultimately successful. The three unconscious hosts lay on the ground, their breathing weak but steady. The separated symbiote fragments, lacking coordination, were quickly captured by a specially designed containment device.
“Mission accomplished,” Lynn announced. “All hosts survived; symbiote containment successful.”
But this is just one part of the battle in Brooklyn. According to previous reports, similar incidents are occurring at five other locations.
“We need to get to the next location immediately,” Lynn decided. “This battle is not over yet.”
After leaving the shopping mall, Lynn contacted the command center via communicator to obtain the latest intelligence on other attack locations.
"Command center, this is Lynn's team. The first location has been cleared," he reported. "The symbiote has been contained, and the host has been rescued. Please designate the next target."
“Roger that, Lynn,” the dispatcher’s voice came through. “According to the latest report, the situation is most severe in an industrial area in Williamsburg. The damage there far exceeds that of other locations, and…”
"And what?" Lynn asked.
"Moreover, the attacker there was unusually large; witnesses described it as being three stories tall, and regular police forces were completely incapable of handling it," the dispatcher continued. "We need your special team to go there immediately."
Three stories high? This information shocked everyone. The symbiotes they had encountered before, while powerful, were all within the normal size range.
“A symbiote three stories high?” Peter said incredulously. “That’s impossible for a single symbiote to reach.”
“Perhaps it’s the fusion of multiple symbiotes,” Emily analyzed. “The symbiote we saw before was a fusion of multiple hosts; if even more symbiotes fuse together…”
“The consequences would be unimaginable,” Lynn concluded her reasoning.
The convoy sped toward the Williamsburg industrial area. Even before reaching the site, they could see a huge column of smoke rising in the distance and hear the ground tremors from time to time, as if some enormous thing was moving.
“Sarah, can you sense what’s ahead?” Lynn asked.
Sarah focused her mind to probe, but after a few seconds her face turned pale. "I...I sensed a massive energy source, but it's too powerful, too powerful for me to handle."
"What's the meaning?"
“It was like looking directly at the sun,” Sarah explained. “The energy source was so powerful that it suppressed my senses.”
This made everyone even more worried. If even Sarah's sensory abilities were suppressed, it meant that the threat they were about to face was indeed beyond the normal range.
Upon reaching the outskirts of the industrial zone, they were met with a shocking sight. Several factory buildings had been completely destroyed, their reinforced concrete structures torn to shreds like paper. Deep footprints, each as large as a car, littered the ground.
"My God," Chen Kai exclaimed, looking at the destruction before him, "what could have caused such damage?"
Their questions were quickly answered. A deafening roar came from the depths of the industrial zone, followed by the appearance of a huge black figure in the distance.
It was indeed a symbiote, but on an unprecedented scale. It stood at least fifteen meters tall, taller than a three-story building, its body enormous, its muscles monstrous. Most disturbingly, multiple distinct human faces could be seen flickering across its surface, clearly indicating it was a monster formed from the fusion of numerous hosts.
“This is a symbiotic fusion,” Peter said, shocked. “I’ve never seen a monster like this before.”
Lynn immediately contacted command center, "Command center, we need heavy weapons support. The target is more dangerous than reported."
"We're already mobilizing resources, but it will take time," the dispatcher responded. "Can you stabilize the situation first?"
“Let’s give it a try,” Lynn replied, though he knew in his heart that with their current equipment, they would have a hard time dealing with such a monster.
The symbiotic entity clearly noticed their arrival. It slowly turned around, and dozens of different eyes simultaneously turned in their direction. Each eye gleamed with malevolence.
"Everyone, disperse," Lynn ordered. "Don't huddle together and give it too easy a target."
The team immediately scattered, but the symbiotic fusion's first attack still caught them off guard. It didn't attack with its body, but instead shot out large amounts of black substance from its mouth, blasting it around like cannonballs.
A cloud of black matter exploded around Lynn, the massive shockwave knocking him to the ground. Even more terrifying, the black matter didn't disappear upon contact with the ground; instead, it began to writhe, trying to find a new host.
"Watch out for those black things!" Lynn shouted a warning. "They're alive!"
Emily narrowly dodged an attack from a mass of black matter. "These are the symbiote's reproductive forms; it's trying to create more symbiotes!"
The situation became more complicated. They not only had to deal with the symbiotic fusion of the main body, but also had to avoid being infected by those reproductive organisms.
"Carlos, protect us with the barrier!" Lynn commanded.
Carlos immediately deployed an energy barrier, but it proved insignificant against such a massive enemy. A simple punch from the symbiotic fusion could shatter his defenses.
"My barrier can't hold!" Carlos reported. "Its power is too great!"
Chen Kai attempted to use teleportation to attack, but even if he could get close to the fusion body, his attack had almost no effect on such a massive target.
“Our attack was like tickling an elephant,” Chen Kai said dejectedly.
Peter tried to bind the amalgamation's hands and feet with spider silk, but the silk was as fragile as thin threads in front of the amalgamation and was easily broken. "Conventional attacks are completely ineffective," Peter confirmed everyone's concerns.
Just then, a message came from the command center: "Heavy weapons support has arrived; tanks and attack helicopters are approaching the target area."
Soon, three armed helicopters appeared in the sky and began suppressing the symbiotic fusion with firepower. Airborne machine guns and missiles fired continuously, and explosions echoed throughout the area.
But despairingly, such overwhelming firepower caused negligible damage to the fusion. The bullets and explosions were like raindrops hitting it, utterly unable to penetrate its black shell.
"Suppression firepower ineffective!" the helicopter pilot reported. "Target's defenses are stronger than expected!"
Worse still, the symbiotic entity began retaliating against aerial targets. It extended enormous tentacles from its body, lashing out at the helicopter like whips.
The first helicopter narrowly avoided the attack, but the second was not so lucky. The enormous tentacle struck its tail, and the helicopter immediately lost control, plummeting to the ground in thick smoke.
"All air units retreat!" Lynn shouted. "Avoid unnecessary sacrifices!"
Ground tank units also arrived on the scene and immediately began shelling. Tank guns were more powerful than helicopter guns, and the explosions were deafening, but the effect was still limited.
The symbiotic fusion seemed to be enraged by these attacks; it let out an even more furious roar and began to stride toward the city center.
"It's going into the residential area!" Sarah exclaimed.
This is absolutely unacceptable. If such a monster were to enter densely populated areas, the resulting casualties would be catastrophic.
“We have to stop it!” Lynn decided. “Everyone, focus your attacks on its legs and try to throw it off balance!”
But their attack was like a mosquito biting an elephant; the amalgam didn't even notice their presence and continued moving towards the city.
Just at the most desperate moment, the ground suddenly trembled violently, even more intensely than the footsteps of the merged beings. A deafening roar came from afar, a sound filled with primal rage and power.
"What was that sound?" Emily asked nervously.
They quickly got their answer. From the other end of the industrial area, a green figure rushed towards them at an astonishing speed. It was a green giant, about three meters tall, with extremely developed muscles and eyes burning with furious flames.
“The Hulk!” Peter recognized the legendary superhero. “Dr. Bruce Banner!”
The Hulk didn't stop to communicate with them; instead, he charged directly at the symbiotic fusion. The collision of the two behemoths produced a deafening sound.
On his first charge, the Hulk successfully knocked down the symbiote, marking the first time since the start of the battle that an attack had a noticeable effect on the symbiote.
"He did it!" Carlos exclaimed excitedly.
But the amalgamation quickly regained its footing and began a direct confrontation with the Hulk. It was a true battle of giants, with each collision generating massive shockwaves that sent surrounding buildings teetering on the brink of collapse in the aftershocks of the fight.
The Hulk is indeed incredibly strong; he can fight the amalgamation form head-on and even gain a slight advantage in strength. But the amalgamation form has other advantages—it can change its body shape, extend tentacles and spikes, and use a variety of attack methods.
“The Hulk needs help,” Lynn observed the battle situation. “We must find a way to support him.”
“But our attacks are ineffective against the fusion,” Chen Kai cautioned.
“Perhaps we don’t need to attack the fusion directly,” Emily thought. “We can disrupt its coordination. Remember, this is a monster fused from multiple hosts; if we can break its internal coordination…”
"How do we do it?" Lynn asked.
“A sonic attack, but on a larger scale,” Emily explained. “If we could generate sufficiently powerful sonic waves, it might disrupt the connections between the different consciousnesses within the merged entity.”
"Michael, can your device amplify?" Lynn asked through the communicator.
“I can try, but it will require additional power and audio equipment,” Michael replied.
“The industrial area should have power generation equipment,” Peter suggested, “and those factories probably have high-powered sound systems.”
“Chen Kai, you and Peter go find the equipment,” Lynn assigned the task. “The rest of you continue to observe the battle and look for opportunities to support the Hulk.”
Just as they were formulating their plan, the battle took a new turn. The symbiotic fusion began secreting large amounts of black slime, which was not only corrosive but also attempting to attach itself to the Hulk.
"It's trying to infect the Hulk!" Sarah exclaimed.
This is a terrifying possibility. If the Hulk were controlled by the symbiote, it would create an unimaginable, horrific monster.
The Hulk was clearly aware of the danger and began to try to avoid contact with the slime, but this limited his attack options.
“We need to get rid of that slime,” Lynn realized. “Emily, what chemicals can neutralize the symbiote material?”
“Strong acids or strong bases are theoretically possible, but on this scale,” Emily hesitated.
“The industrial zone should have chemical reserves,” Carlos suggested. “Those factories certainly have large quantities of industrial chemicals.”
Just then, Chen Kai and Peter sent good news via communicator: "We've found a chemical plant with a large quantity of industrial acids and audio equipment!"
“Great,” Lynn immediately gave orders. “Michael, go help them set up the sonic attack system. Sarah, you and Carlos help me move the chemicals. Emily, calculate the types and quantities of chemicals needed.”
The team sprang into action immediately. While the Hulk held off the amalgamation, they frantically prepared for a counterattack.
Ten minutes later, everything was ready. Michael successfully connected the acoustic device to the factory's high-powered sound system, and Emily prepared enough neutralizing solution.
"Hulk, back off!" Lynn shouted through the megaphone. "We're launching a chemical attack!"
Although the Hulk was enraged, he still maintained basic rationality. Upon hearing the command, he delivered a powerful uppercut to the amalgamation's chin and then quickly retreated.
“Now!” Lynn commanded.
The chemical attack began. Large quantities of strong acid solution were sprayed at the symbiotic fusion from multiple directions, while Michael activated a sonic attack at maximum power.
The effects were immediate. The strong acid began to corrode the fused entity's outer shell, while the intense sound waves disrupted its internal coordination. The fused entity let out a painful roar, and its body began to tremble violently. (End of Chapter)
