Chapter 8 Lesson 1
Chapter 8 Lesson
The next morning, soft sunlight streamed through the window into Weiss's office.
At this moment, he was staring intently at the schedule in his hand, with an expression of extreme satisfaction on his face.
As expected, just as he had expected, the Magic Rune class was undoubtedly an extremely unpopular course.
Fewer than 30 students chose this course, and it was only held three times a week.
Weiss was so excited that he kept slapping his legs with his hands and cheering, "That's great."
However, despite this, Weiss has no intention of taking this hard-earned job lightly.
Although he didn't prepare a pile of lesson plans like other professors, he still decided to prepare well for his first class. After all, this was his first class at Hogwarts, and he didn't want to receive a lot of complaints right from the start and end up being expelled from Hogwarts.
"The first class is scheduled for 3 p.m., so I have to put all my effort into preparing carefully."
In the blink of an eye, it was afternoon.
When Wes walked briskly into the classroom, he was surprised to find that the students were already sitting neatly in their seats.
What surprised Weiss was that Hermione, a freshman who had just entered the magical world, also chose the Magic Rune class.
He calmly picked up a piece of chalk and wrote his name vigorously on the blackboard - 'Wes Irwin'.
"First of all, I would like to sincerely thank you all for choosing the Magic Rune class."
"Next, please introduce yourselves in turn. After all, there aren't many of us here, and I'm confident I can remember everyone's names."
As soon as he finished speaking, a burst of cheerful laughter came from the audience.
The students began to introduce themselves one by one in an orderly manner.
When it was Hermione's turn, all eyes were on her.
After all, the other students present were all in the fifth grade or above. They already had a certain foundation in magic and knew more or less about magic patterns.
Hermione, a freshman from a Muggle family, chose such an unpopular and difficult course, which really surprised everyone.
She was like a proud and confident peacock, her shining eyes fixed on Weiss the entire time she introduced herself.
After the self-introduction session, Weiss began the formal teaching.
"The magic pattern is an ancient and mysterious existence." His voice echoed in the classroom, and all the students quickly opened their books, looking focused and taking notes seriously.
During the teaching process, Wes skillfully interspersed some adventure stories that he had personally experienced. The exciting plots caused the students to exclaim from time to time.
"In general, magic patterns have a wide range of applications. Whether it's setting traps, strengthening defenses, issuing warnings, or even in advanced alchemy, the exquisite use of magic patterns is indispensable."
“If you have any questions during the learning process, you can ask them at any time.”
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone raised their hands impatiently.
"Oh, this is beyond my expectation."
Weiss looked at the clock on the wall and said, "Fortunately, we have plenty of time. So, one question each."
Wes casually pointed to the boy in the first row on his left and said, "Mr. Wesley, let's start with you."
Wesley stood up quickly when he heard the sound.
"Please sit down, Mr. Wesley, let's all relax a little." Wes leaned leisurely on the podium and said with a smile.
Wesley shrugged and sat back in his chair obediently.
"Professor, did the adventures you described really happen?"
"Of course." Weiss nodded without hesitation.
There was another round of exclamations in the classroom.
Wesley wanted to continue asking questions, but was stopped decisively by Weiss.
"One question per person, Mr. Wesley."
Wesley closed his mouth helplessly.
The girl behind him couldn't wait to ask, "Professor, did you find any precious treasure during your adventure?"
Everyone pricked up their ears, eagerly awaiting the answer.
Weiss stood up, turned gracefully, and said, "The professor's meager salary cannot afford the luxurious robes I wear."
Weiss's thoughts instantly drifted back to the difficult days when he explored the maze.
"I want to solemnly remind you that it is an extremely dangerous thing." He looked worriedly at the group of curious little wizards in front of him and deliberately threatened: "If you are not careful, you will lose your precious life." These words really had some deterrent power, and the children were silent for a while.
However, a few bold students continued to ask questions related to adventure.
Until the crisp bell rang for the end of get out of class.
"Okay, ladies and gentlemen, it's time to dismiss the get out of class."
Weiss smiled and signaled the end of the class.
Hermione raised her hand high.
"Miss Granger?"
"Professor, you haven't assigned any homework yet."
All the students stared at Hermione with murderous looks.
Weiss shrugged helplessly, "I don't want to lose my few students. What are you waiting for?"
When the students heard this, they hurriedly packed up their books and left the classroom in a hurry.
Everyone was excited and cheering because they didn't have homework, except Hermione who looked depressed.
A month passed by in a hurry.
Weiss also adapted to the professor's pace of life. He only had to teach three classes a week, assign homework once a week, and then carefully correct students' papers.
It’s true that although some of the views put forward by the students in their papers seemed a bit naive, they did give Wes a lot of inspiration.
The library has become a place that Wes frequents over the past month.
The students were surprised to find that this young professor was even more diligent and hardworking than they were. They talked about it a lot for a while, but they didn't expect that this would unexpectedly create a strong learning atmosphere.
This weekend, Wes chose to go to Hagrid's hut instead of going to the library.
As soon as Hagrid saw Weiss, he gave him a big bear hug with great enthusiasm: "Wes, oh, I should call you Professor Irwin now."
"Come on, Hagrid, it's more pleasant to call me Wes."
The two seem to have a very close relationship.
Hagrid happily invited Wes to taste the rock cake he made himself. Wes looked at the rock cake that was so hard that it seemed to be able to smash stones, and could only politely refuse.
It was late autumn, and the burning wood in the tree house's fireplace made crackling sounds from time to time.
Hagrid's beloved dog, Fang, a sensitive and timid dog, was lying comfortably on the carpet, enjoying Wes's gentle touch.
Wes looked at the wooden house carefully. The decoration style of the wooden house was rough, bold, and even a little simple.
However, the soft hair and shed hard horns of rare and magical animals can be found everywhere, and these are rare and precious materials.
Wes was even surprised to see the legendary unicorn hair.
Only Hagrid, the dedicated warden of the Forbidden Forest, could have collected so many priceless goodies.
Hagrid is undoubtedly a master in the field of magical creatures.
However, due to some unknown reasons, he could only hold ordinary positions such as key manager and Forbidden Forest Warden, with a pitifully low salary. He even had to think twice before ordering a beer at the bar.
Wes gently stroked the precious furs on the ground, thinking to himself that if Hagrid had been more flexible, he would have made a fortune reselling these rare materials.
But Hagrid was simple-minded and extremely loyal to Hogwarts and Headmaster Dumbledore, and would never do anything that went against his principles.
"Hagrid, have you ever thought about improving your life a little?"
"Improve your life? Why? I think I'm living a good life now. I'm happy every day."
Hagrid's face was full of confusion.
Weiss swallowed the words that were about to come out of his mouth.
"Nothing, just treat it as my nonsense."
The two of them held steaming cups of tea and enthusiastically recounted their wonderful experiences.
When Wes described in vivid detail the strange creatures he encountered during his adventures, Hagrid's eyes would always light up with excitement and he would be in high spirits, as if he were there himself.
It soon got dark, and Wes politely declined Hagrid's invitation to have dinner with him. His fragile and sensitive stomach was really not able to enjoy the unique delicacies cooked by the half-giant.
