Chapter 7: First Day of School, Lively Ceremony
Chapter 7: First Day of School, Lively Ceremony
The annual school opening season has arrived as scheduled, and Platform 9 and 3/4 is now crowded with students and parents who come to see them off.
The noisy sounds rose and fell, interweaving into a lively scene.
"It's a nostalgic scene." A few years ago, Weiss was one of these students.
Now, he boarded the Hogwarts train as a professor, and this scene made him feel emotional.
Weiss boarded the train at a leisurely pace and then walked into the single compartment prepared specifically for professors.
The moment the car door closed, it was as if an invisible barrier instantly blocked out all the noisy sounds from the outside.
Presumably, there must be some kind of soundproofing magic cast on this car door to achieve such an effect.
Weiss nodded with satisfaction, then quickly took out the paper and began to study it intently, writing something on the notebook from time to time with the pen in his hand, his expression focused and devoted.
"Woo woo", as the locomotive chimney belched out billowing steam, the body of the train started slowly, and the train, full of students with expectations and longings, drove towards Hogwarts.
When Weiss was completely immersed in studying, there was a sudden knock on the door.
Weiss frowned slightly, raised his head with an unhappy look on his face, and said helplessly: "Please come in."
The door was gently pushed open, and two children, a boy and a girl, stood timidly in front of the door.
The boy shrank back and hid behind the girl. When he saw that there was an adult in front of him, his body trembled even more violently and he buried his head deeply in his chest, as if he wanted to hide himself.
The girl obviously did not expect to meet an adult on this train that was almost entirely filled with students, and in a separate carriage at that.
"Excuse me sir, have you seen a toad? Neville's toad is missing."
Neville tugged at the corner of her clothes carefully and said cautiously: "This gentleman should be a professor at Hogwarts. We should be polite."
"Excuse me, sir." The sharp-eyed Hermione saw the paper on the table at a glance and instantly became excited. "Sir, are you studying magic? That's great. I have never seen real magic research before. Is it possible?"
Hermione's mouth was like a machine gun, with questions blurting out one after another. She was so excited that she completely forgot the original purpose of her visit.
Weiss felt his head swelling and a headache and had to interrupt Hermione: "I'm sorry, Miss, I don't know your identities yet."
"My name is Hermione Granger, he is Neville Longbottom, and we are both first years at Hogwarts."
Hermione did not seem nervous at all when faced with the adults' questions, and introduced herself generously.
"Miss Granger, I don't see any Toad. And, as you can see, I'm busy. Could you please close the door, please?"
After Weiss finished speaking, he stopped looking at the two of them and turned his attention back to the paper in his hand.
"I'm sorry to bother you, sir."
Before Hermione was about to continue speaking, Neville displayed an agility that was extremely inconsistent with his size. He quickly pulled Hermione out of the car and did not forget to reach out to close the door.
Hermione pouted, her face full of anger and grievance: "What? How can such a cold person become a professor?"
After saying that, he turned around and left with his short legs in a huff, and Neville followed him without saying a word.
Without the two people's interference, Weiss was immersed in his studies without any distractions until the train stopped safely at the station.
After getting off the train, Weiss walked briskly and soon arrived at Hogwarts.
He came to his own office on the seventh floor. The room was simply furnished, but very tidy.
Weiss opened the box and Jandi came out.
"I have already discussed this with Headmaster Dumbledore. During my tenure, you can move freely around Hogwarts, but you must remember not to affect other professors and students."
"As you command, Master."
Wes put on a brand new robe and stood in front of the mirror, examining it carefully from head to toe.
"I have to go to the opening ceremony. Please clean up here."
The Great Hall of Hogwarts is magnificent and spectacular, with a towering ceiling that seems to reach the vast starry sky.
The ceiling was simulated by exquisite magic into a vast night sky, with stars twinkling like countless dazzling gems inlaid in it, shining brightly.
Four huge long tables were neatly arranged, each occupied by students from one of the four colleges.
Large portraits of past principals hung on the walls of the hall. Their lifelike expressions seemed to silently watch everything happening below. The floor was paved with smooth, mirror-like marble, which could clearly reflect people's figures, like a giant mirror.
The flags of the four major colleges are hung in the four corners of the hall: red for Gryffindor, green for Slytherin, blue for Ravenclaw and yellow for Hufflepuff. The flags flutter gently in the breeze, vividly displaying the glory of their respective colleges.
Hundreds of candles gracefully suspended in the air, emitting a warm and soft glow, illuminating the entire hall as bright as day.
The students, dressed in their respective college robes in bright colors, sat at four long tables, each with a smile of excitement and anticipation on their face.
Weiss's arrival instantly caught everyone's attention.
"Who is he?"
"Idiot, it must be a new professor. Don't you see him sitting with the professors?"
"So young and handsome!"
A group of little witches chattered and commented on Weiss, their eyes full of admiration.
Flitwick stood on tiptoe excitedly and tried to give Wes a big hug, but he was too short, so Wes had to bend down slightly to cooperate with his movements.
"Long time no see, Dean."
Flitwick beamed, patting Weiss's arm affectionately. "Well, how does it feel to have my most proud student return to Hogwarts as a professor?"
"That's fantastic," Weiss said, his eyes twinkling with excitement. "After graduation, I can't stop thinking about coming back here, Dean."
"I doubt whether you can become a qualified professor, Mr. Irving." Snape's unique and strange accent came slowly.
"Don't listen to Snape's nonsense, you will be a qualified professor." Flitwick smiled and took Weiss, enthusiastically introducing him to other professors.
In fact, there is no need for him to introduce himself, as all the professors have deep memories of Wes, the diligent student.
The professors welcomed Weiss one after another, and they were all sincerely happy that this outstanding graduate could return.
Weiss also met the new semester's Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Quirinus Quirrell.
Professor Quirrell wore a purple turban that emitted a strange smell that made people stay away from him.
However, at this moment he was clinging to Snape tightly, and kept saying something.
At this time, the door opened and the first-year students lined up in a neat long line and walked in in an orderly manner.
The Sorting Hat on the chair in the middle of the hall suddenly started singing excitedly.
However, that unique voice is really hard to appreciate.
The annual sorting ceremony thus kicked off.
Besides seeing the freshmen making fools of themselves out of nervousness, this year everyone's attention was focused on the boy who survived.
When the Sorting Hat thought for a while and finally announced that Harry Potter belonged to Gryffindor, the students of Gryffindor House burst into deafening cheers, so enthusiastic that it seemed to blow the roof of the castle off.
Professor McGonagall had a brilliant smile on her face, and even the usually serious Dumbledore showed a satisfied smile.
Snape's expression grew even more gloomy.
But none of this has much to do with Weiss.
Under Dumbledore's command, everyone sang the Hogwarts school song with their favorite tunes. The scene was like a brain-filling magic sound. Wes wished he could immediately block his ears with a spell.
Afterwards, Dumbledore solemnly spoke of some things that needed attention in the new semester, and solemnly introduced the two new professors to the students, and then announced that everyone could start their happy meal.
After the opening ceremony, Weiss breathed a sigh of relief.
He actually doesn't like environments with too many people or too much noise.
Fortunately, the course he taught was not very popular and not many students chose to take it, which made him feel a little relieved.
