Pear was awakened by the chirping of birds, and she vaguely heard voices. The voices were familiar, but she had just woken up and her mind was still foggy, so she couldn't immediately remember whose voice it was.

"You're awake!" Tao Qiuyi walked to the bedside, sat on the edge of the bed, and reached out to touch Pear's forehead. "You little sleepyhead, you've slept for so long, you're finally awake. Is there anything else that's bothering you?"

The moment Pear's breathing became erratic, she knew she was awake. Unsure of Pear's current condition, she chose to remain calm.

After finishing her glass of water, Tao Qiuyi asked Pear, "Are you still thirsty? Would you like some more water?"

"It's just a little trick, nothing to brag about." Waving her hand, Tao Qiuyi asked Pear, "Want to sleep a little longer?"

"I'm not going to sleep." Pear shook her head, glancing around at her. This wasn't the room she and her sister-in-law used to share; even the fireplace was different from the one in the previous room.

"Sister-in-law, is this our new courtyard?" Pear asked Tao Qiuyi.

Tao Qiuyi nodded with a smile, "Yes, this is our new courtyard, and this room is your room too?"

"My room?" Pear looked at Tao Qiuyi in surprise. "Is this my room all to myself? Then where is your room, sister-in-law? Aren't I sharing a room with you?"

Well, Tao Qiuyi felt she couldn't respond to that.

She didn't have Wei Jingyuan's thick skin.

Wei Jingyuan could tell Xiao Huai without batting an eye that she would be sharing a room with him from now on. She was too ashamed to tell Li Zi that she would be sharing a room with her older brother from now on.

For some reason, Pear noticed Tao Qiuyi's embarrassment. She wanted to change the subject, but didn't know what to say.

He glanced repeatedly toward the door, hoping someone would come in and break the awkward silence between him and his sister-in-law. Perhaps fate had heard Pear's plea, for Qiu Si appeared at the door.

"Sister, is Pear awake?" After asking Qiu Si, she saw Pear sitting on the bed, and Tao Qiuyi sitting on the edge of the bed.

Qiu Si quickened her pace, ran into the room, and stood by the bed. Her eyes were fixed on Li Zi, a simple, honest smile on her face. "Li Zi, you're awake? Are you hungry? Do you want anything to eat?"

Upon hearing Qiu Si's question, Tao Qiuyi realized that Li Zi hadn't eaten yet. She said to Qiu Si, "Li Zi's food is in the kitchen, go and get it."

"Okay, I'm going right now." Qiu Si left happily.

"Remember to bring another bowl of chicken soup," Tao Qiuyi called out.

"Okay, I understand." Qiu Si's voice came from outside the door.

Pear gently tugged at Tao Qiuyi's sleeve, hesitating to speak. Seeing Pear's cautious expression, Tao Qiuyi sighed, "Ask whatever you want."

"Sister-in-law, my parents... my parents... they..." Pear choked up and couldn't continue, tears streaming down her face.

Knowing what Pear wanted to say, Tao Qiuyi reached out and gently wiped away the tears on Pear's face. She said softly, "Personally, I think what Zhou Mei said is the truth."
