Chapter 328 Moving
Xiao Huai refilled their water glasses, and they thanked her in return.

"You're welcome." This time Xiao Huai agreed. "Please have some tea and rest in this room. My younger sister fainted, and my older brother and sister-in-law are staying by her bedside."

"I really couldn't find the time to meet you both, please forgive me."

"It's alright." Captain Wen glanced at his companion who had come with him, and then said to Xiao Huai, "It's okay for the two of us to wait a while, saving lives is the priority."

"Thank you for understanding," Xiao Huai said sincerely.

"Excuse me, I'm just grabbing something." Qiu Si rushed in from outside and went straight to the fireplace. He tied up the wood placed by the fireplace with rope.

"Qiusi, what are you going to do with the wood?" Xiaohuai asked, puzzled.

Qiu Si glanced back at Xiao Huai and answered crisply, "My sister told me to move the wood to the new courtyard first, and then come back to move the other things after she and Brother Wei finish tidying up the room next door."

Upon hearing that her elder brother and sister-in-law were packing, Xiao Huai immediately went to Qiu Si and asked in a low voice, "Have you decided to move to the new courtyard today?"

"Yes, it was my sister's decision, and Brother Wei agrees." As she spoke, Qiu Si had already tied up the wood. She lifted it; although the bundle of wood was heavy, she could still manage to lift it.

"Why did my sister decide to move to the new courtyard today?" Xiao Huai was puzzled and couldn't understand what her sister-in-law was thinking. Especially since Pear was still lying unconscious in bed.

Qiu Si leaned close to Xiao Huai's ear and whispered, "I think the reason why my sister decided to move to the new courtyard today, and Brother Wei also agreed, is because of the pears."

We moved to the new courtyard today because of Pear, but Pear is still lying unconscious in bed. Xiao Huai frowned at Qiu Si and asked in a low voice, "Are you sure?"

"I'm sure." Qiu Si nodded emphatically. Neither his sister nor Brother Wei had said anything, but he just had this feeling.

Xiao Huai didn't know what to say, so Captain Wen walked over and said, "You're moving, right? We can help you too."

The sudden sound startled the two boys who were deep in thought. Xiao Huai and Qiu Si exchanged a glance; it was impolite to ask a guest for help moving things.

Their first instinct was to refuse; after all, they weren't familiar with each other, and they felt embarrassed to ask others for help. But then they thought that having two people help move things would definitely make it much faster.

After weighing the pros and cons, the two boys did not refuse. They sincerely thanked the two soldiers and invited them to sit and have some more tea while they packed their belongings and moved on.

Captain Wen readily agreed and turned to sit down at the table.

Xiao Huai and Qiu Si quickly tidied up the rest of the items in the room.

Soon, the two packed two large bags of items.

Captain Wen and another soldier, one carrying two bundles of wood and the other carrying two large bags, followed behind Xiao Huai and Qiu Si, one of whom was carrying a quilt.

Their destination: the new courtyard in front of the large bamboo forest.

In the next room.

"Won't there be a problem if those two order soldiers to help them?" Tao Qiuyi asked Wei Jingyuan, while her hands continued to stuff all the clothes into the wardrobe.

Then tie the door handles on the two wardrobe doors together with a rope; the excess rope breaks easily with a gentle tug.

Wei Jingyuan stood behind her, watching her work. "No, it's a soldier's duty to defend the country and protect the people. If the people need help, it's only right that they help."

"Besides, we won't let them help us move things for nothing. After they're done, I'll personally cook dinner for them." Tao Qiuyi, who had initially disagreed with his first point, felt relieved after hearing his second. "That's great! When they come back, we'll all go to the new courtyard together."

"Okay." Wei Jingyuan responded softly, his burning eyes filled with apology as he looked at Tao Qiuyi.

"What's wrong?" Tao Qiuyi asked, puzzled.

Wei Jingyuan said, "The furniture in the main house of the new courtyard isn't finished yet. If we move there now, we can only live in the two rooms on the right."

“That’s right.” Tao Qiuyi nodded.

Seeing her like this, Wei Jingyuan suddenly didn't know what to say. Seeing that the room was almost tidied up, he said, "The room is almost tidied up. I'll go tidy up the items in the kitchen."

“Okay.” Tao Qiuyi nodded and handed the extra section of rope to Wei Jingyuan. “Put the small items in the kitchen in the cupboard and tie them up like this.”

Taking the rope from her hand, Wei Jingyuan turned and strode quickly toward the kitchen.

Walking to the bedside and looking at the unconscious little girl, Tao Qiuyi couldn't help but sigh. Sitting on the edge of the bed, she gently stroked Pear's chubby little face.

"Poor little girl, you've suffered so much." Tao Qiuyi sighed. Everyone's path to growth is different; some people have smooth sailing, while others face many thorns.

Suddenly learning that her parents' deaths were caused by poisoning by her aunt, contrary to her previous belief, and that it was the poisonous mushrooms she had picked that killed them, left Pear feeling utterly devastated.

The torment that Pear has endured over the years has become a joke.

Zhou Mei is truly malicious.

The sound of Xiao Huai and Qiu Si talking came from the courtyard. Tao Qiuyi used the quilt that was covering Li Zi to wrap Li Zi up, and then carried Li Zi out of the house.

Seeing her clutching a tightly rolled-up quilt, though it was a bit too long, Captain Wen and the soldier were about to laugh when they suddenly remembered something, and their expressions changed simultaneously.

She wasn't the leader of the group, but rather the girl wrapped in a quilt who was unconscious. The two of them walked up to Tao Qiuyi at the same time.

"Let me hug you."

"Let me carry him," Captain Wen and the soldier said in unison.

"No need," Tao Qiuyi declined with a smile. She could easily carry not only Pear wrapped in a quilt, but also Wei Jingyuan. This was something she couldn't tell outsiders; she needed to maintain a good image for Comrade Wei Jingyuan.

Seeing her holding the little girl wrapped in a quilt, looking relaxed and without any sign of strain, both Captain Wen and the soldier showed surprise.

Captain Wen, in particular, had seen Pear before and knew that Pear and Little Locust were twins. If any other woman in the village were holding Pear today, he wouldn't have found it strange.

But the girl in front of me looked petite and small, and it was a bit strange that she was holding an eight or nine-year-old child wrapped in a quilt.

Wei Jingyuan then came out of the kitchen carrying a cupboard on his back and saw Captain Wen and the soldiers standing in front of Tao Qiuyi. He paused for a moment, then quickened his pace and walked to Tao Qiuyi's side.

"What's wrong?" he asked Tao Qiuyi.

"It's nothing," Tao Qiuyi explained with a smile. "The two soldiers thought I might not be able to carry the pears, so they wanted to help me."

As soon as she finished speaking, Wei Jingyuan's expression immediately turned strange, and his ears began to turn red. Seeing Wei Jingyuan like this, Tao Qiuyi knew that he must have remembered the scene of her carrying him into the house.
