Chapter 330 Finale
In the dead of night.

From time to time, the sound of dogs barking could be heard in the distance, and the wind rustled through the bamboo in the large bamboo forest behind.

A figure scaled the wall and entered the courtyard.

Sensing something was amiss, Tao Qiuyi sat up and glanced at Pear, who was fast asleep beside her. Hearing the faint footsteps approaching, her gaze settled on the pile of wood beside the fireplace.

The footsteps stopped at the doorway, and a deliberately lowered voice called softly, "Qiuqiu, Qiuqiu."

After calling out twice, he waited for a response from the person inside.

Hearing the familiar voice, Tao Qiuyi gritted her teeth in exasperation. The only person who called her Qiuqiu like a bird was Wei Jingyuan.

This guy doesn't use the front door to get home; he climbs over the wall instead, making her think a thief had broken in.

Tao Qiuyi tucked the blanket around Pear beside her, then got up and put on her shoes. She put on a thick cotton coat, went over and opened the door, and cold air quickly rushed into the room.

Wei Jingyuan shifted his tall frame to shield her from the cold wind.

Before Wei Jingyuan could speak, Tao Qiuyi lowered her voice and asked, "You just went out to see someone off, why are you back so late?"

"I accompanied Captain Wen to see Elder Jiang." Wei Jingyuan replied in a low voice, glancing at the coat draped over Tao Qiuyi's shoulders. "Is she asleep?"

"Do you want to check what time it is?" Tao Qiuyi glared at Wei Jingyuan, thinking that he was asking a question he already knew the answer to.

Without even checking the time, Wei Jingyuan knew it was late at night. He raised his hand to touch his nose and glanced into the room. "Has Pear woken up?"

“She woke up when it was getting dark, and she finished the food I left for her and even drank a bowl of chicken soup.” Tao Qiuyi knew he was worried about his sister, so she told him everything that Li Zi had said after she woke up.

“They sent someone over there to call us over, but I didn’t go because Pear was still unconscious. But Xiao Huai went.”

"You did a great job. Xiao Huai can go now; you and Li Zi don't need to go," Wei Jingyuan said, finally relieved to know his sister was alright. "Thank you for taking care of Li Zi."

Why is he suddenly being so polite? Could he be up to something? Tao Qiuyi's scrutinizing gaze fell directly on Wei Jingyuan.

Suddenly I noticed something white on his clothes, and upon closer inspection, I realized it was snow.

"It's snowing." As soon as she finished speaking, Tao Qiuyi reached out to brush the snow off Wei Jingyuan's clothes.

Before her hand could even touch Wei Jingyuan's shoulder, it was grasped by him.

Wei Jingyuan first tidied her thick cotton-padded coat, telling her to put on the coat she was wearing. Then he glanced at her thin trousers and said, "Go put on your thick cotton-padded trousers, let's go back to our room and talk for a while."

"Is there something you can't say here?" Tao Qiuyi looked at him, puzzled.

"No." Wei Jingyuan answered decisively. Seeing that she wanted to say something more, he simply picked her up and left.

Tao Qiuyi was startled at first, but then let him be. The snowflakes were still falling, and Wei Jingyuan walked very fast.

Arriving at the door of the house where the two lived, they found a fireplace inside, eliminating the need for a kerosene lamp. Wei Jingyuan placed Tao Qiuyi on the ground and only withdrew his hand after making sure she was steady.

Wei Jingyuan took two envelopes out of his pocket and gave them to her, saying, "These are the rewards for the two of us, one for you and one for me. They're both for you."

Upon seeing the envelope, Tao Qiuyi could basically guess what was inside without even asking.

With a smile, Tao Qiuyi took the envelope and sat down on the bedside. She placed one envelope on the bed and opened the other.

"It really is money." Seeing what was inside, Tao Qiuyi smiled even more happily and began to count how much money was inside.

Seeing her greedy look, Wei Jingyuan shook his head with amusement. He took off his coat and draped it over the shelf behind the door, then sat down next to her and watched her count the money.

“I will work hard to earn money in the future and give all the money I earn to you,” Wei Jingyuan suddenly said.

Feeling her heart skip a beat, Tao Qiuyi stopped counting the money. She turned her head to look at Wei Jingyuan and softly replied, "Okay."

Wei Jingyuan smiled happily, "Do you need my help?"

Help? Help with what? Oh, counting money. He was asking if she needed his help counting money. Tao Qiuyi understood and picked up the envelope from the bed and handed it to him.

One person counting money is happy, two people counting money are happy, so naturally it's better for two people to be happy.

Wei Jingyuan had said that she and Lizi didn't need to go there, and Tao Qiuyi and Lizi really didn't go. No one knows what Wei Jingyuan said to them, but until Wei Boss's burial, no one came to bother her and Lizi.

Tao Qiuyi was able to relax, spending her days tidying up the new yard with her three children, Lizi, Qiusi, and Hanying.

After the first snowfall, the weather grew colder and colder, and there was absolutely no work to be done in the fields, so people started to stay at home and hibernate.

After finishing the carpentry work in the new courtyard, Tao Qiuyi gave Uncle Chen fifty yuan. Uncle Chen and his two sons were overjoyed and made her a few small stools before leaving with the money. In the evening, Wei Jingyuan rode his bicycle back and had just placed it under the eaves when Xiao Huai came up to him with a basin of water and said, "Brother, your sister-in-law asked me to help you clean the house."

"Have you finished your homework?" Wei Jingyuan asked casually.

"I'm done. Grandpa Tao and Grandma Chen both said I learn quickly," Xiao Huai replied, then glanced into the room. "The three slower ones are still writing furiously."

Wei Jingyuan raised an eyebrow and glanced at Xiao Huai, then followed his gaze to the three people in the room.

"Let's go." The two brothers went inside to work, and before they finished eating, the house was spotless.

Tao Qiuyi said that the new courtyard was completed today, so they wanted to celebrate. Grandma Chen and Lizi cooked dinner together.

Braised pork with potatoes, braised rabbit with radishes, fried eggs with chives, and pheasant and mushroom soup. The three dishes and one soup were a balanced mix of meat and vegetables, even more sumptuous than what we ate during the Lunar New Year.

Grandpa Tao, Grandma Chen, and Han Ying gradually integrated into the family after spending a few days together.

During the meal, Tao Qiuyi would glance at Wei Jingyuan every now and then, her expression complex and conflicted. Wei Jingyuan assumed that she was so conflicted because she was going to be sharing a room with him that night.

Even though he felt a little disappointed, he was determined not to back down.

Everyone could tell that the two were in a slightly awkward mood, but no one said anything. After finishing their meal and cleaning up the main room, they went back to their own rooms.

Wei Jingyuan went to the kitchen to boil water for a bath. Having lived with Tao Qiuyi for a long time, he had also developed the habit of taking a bath after returning from the mountain.

When he finished tidying up and returned to the room, he was surprised to see Tao Qiuyi sitting on the edge of the bed and was stunned.

Hearing footsteps, Tao Qiuyi looked up and saw Wei Jingyuan standing at the door. She waved to him and said, "Standing at the door like a doorman in this freezing weather? Come in quickly."

Wei Jingyuan walked in, his deep eyes staring straight at Tao Qiuyi.

"I have something to tell you."

"I have something to tell you," the two said in unison.

"You go first," Wei Jingyuan said, sitting down next to Tao Qiuyi.

Tao Qiuyi turned to the side and looked at Wei Jingyuan with a serious expression. "What I'm about to tell you may seem a bit unbelievable, but I hope you can believe me."

"Go ahead." Seeing her so serious, Wei Jingyuan had some doubts, but he still nodded solemnly.

Taking a deep breath, Tao Qiuyi said, "A few minutes before you came back, Huang Lingyu came to see me. She told me that you went into the deep mountains today and never came back."

"Never coming back means you will die in the mountains today."

By the end, Tao Qiuyi's voice was somewhat hoarse. What she didn't say was that she didn't believe Huang Lingyu's words, even though Huang Lingyu had told her that she was someone who had been reborn.

In Huang Lingyu's previous life, Wei Jingyuan died today. She also died, a very, very long time ago. She jumped into the river and no one saved her; she died in the river.

Sensing her fear, Wei Jingyuan reached out and pulled her into his arms, gently comforting her. "Don't believe that woman. I'm back safe and sound, which means she was deliberately lying to you."

"Mmm." Leaning against his warm embrace, Tao Qiuyi responded softly.

If she hadn't transmigrated here, she wouldn't have believed Huang Lingyu's words. She also realized that in Huang Lingyu's previous life, she hadn't transmigrated, which was why Tao Qiuyi died.

It was her time travel that changed the fate of so many people. Tao Qiuyi suddenly pushed Wei Jingyuan down and then lay on top of him.

"So fierce?" Wei Jingyuan was startled, but then let her do whatever she wanted to him.

On their belated wedding night, the bridal chamber was finally filled with candles.

Time flies, and before we knew it, it was Chinese New Year. Every household was preparing for the New Year's Eve dinner. The new courtyard was also filled with a lively and peaceful scene, with Grandpa Tao sitting on a chair at the entrance of the main room.

Looking at the four toddlers playing in the yard, then at my granddaughter squatting on the ground feeding the birds, and then at my grandson-in-law engrossed in reading a book, life is truly...

"Don't you feel that life is getting better and better?" Grandma Chen handed a cup of tea to Grandpa Tao. "When I first came here, if it weren't for Xiao Hanying, I might have died long ago."

"Don't say such unlucky things during the New Year." Grandpa Tao took the bamboo cup from Grandma Chen's hand, and only he knew the bittersweet feeling in his heart.

Grandma Chen raised her hand to wipe away the tears on her face and said with a smile, "Although saying this is feudal superstition, I still think that Qiuyi is our lucky star."

Grandpa Tao nodded in agreement with her words.

Wei Jingyuan, who overheard their conversation, silently agreed in his heart.
