Chapter 614, Part 28: Johnny's Silver Hand
Chapter 614, Section 28: Johnny Silver Hand's Things
As the retro-styled sports car slowly revealed itself, before Carl could even get a clear look, Johnny Silverhand was already exclaiming in the real world: "Holy crap! That's my car!"
Iron Block was startled by the mechanical dog that suddenly spoke human language, and almost drew his gun, while Karl frowned as he stared at the antique car: "Your car?"
"I never expected Adam Hammer's henchmen to be hiding my treasure!" Johnny's voice trembled with excitement. "A Porsche 911, a legend from 1977! It's miles better than your beat-up Sky Dome Hera!"
"is it?"
Carl stared at the Porsche 911, carefully examining its seating capacity, but he didn't quite agree: "Another two-seater. I hate two-seaters."
“You fucking have no idea what a classic is!” Johnny’s projection paced excitedly back and forth in front of the car. “This thing can be exchanged for its weight in gold! If V and his gang were here, they’d be begging me to let them touch the steering wheel! Hurry, let me in! I’m going to show you what the coolest ride in Night City is all about!”
Carl sighed helplessly and turned to Iron Block: "Thanks for leading the way. It seems that the contents of this container belong to me, so they're mine now. You can go to Andy's side, is that alright?"
"No problem." Iron Block struggled to tear his gaze away from the dog that was jumping around like a madman, eager to leave this bizarre scene as soon as possible. "I'll go find Officer Andy right away."
Watching the iron block leave in a hurry, Karl withdrew his gaze and stepped into the dimly lit container.
Dust floated in the slanting sunlight, casting a hazy gray veil over the Porsche 911. Karl stretched out his index finger and lightly ran it across the hood, his fingertip immediately covered in a thick layer of dust.
Perhaps because it had been stored for half a year and hadn't been covered with a dust cover, the Porsche 911 was covered in dust and looked rather drab.
“Johnny,” Carl flicked his fingers, dust falling in a flurry, “this car has been parked for at least six months, without even a dust cover. The ethanol in the fuel tank has probably evaporated long ago. Are you sure it can still start?”
"Enough nonsense!" Johnny's projection appeared in front of the car with a 'whoosh,' several mechanical arms extending from the dog-shaped body, precisely inspecting each component as if performing surgery. Amid the hum of the mechanical joints, his electronic voice suddenly rose: "Beautiful! Adam Hammer's lackeys know their stuff, they're ten times better maintained than I expected!"
Carl watched as Johnny's robotic arm trembled with excitement, like an old father who had found his long-lost child. The projection even began to fix a non-existent hairstyle in the rearview mirror—though it was just a reflection of a dog's head.
"Wipe it clean and fill it with gas, I guarantee I'll break everyone's neck in the whole Watson District!" Johnny's projection slammed against the car door, kicking up a cloud of dust.
“You just said ‘the coolest,’ and now it’s been upgraded to ‘break your neck’?” Carl shook his head, thinking that as long as Johnny was happy, that was all that mattered. His gaze swept through the container, and then he noticed that besides the car, there was a package standing upright in the corner and a metal box with its corners wrapped in transparent tape to prevent damage to the vehicles next to it due to transport collisions.
Besides the car, the container also contained Jeremiah Grayson's personal belongings.
Carl recalled the description of the iron block.
Personal belongings, considering even the car belongs to Johnny Silver Hand, and the so-called personal belongings stored in the same container as the car, are unlikely to also be...
With this in mind, while Johnny was still circling his car, clearly trying to reconnect with his beloved vehicle after a long separation, Carl had already begun unpacking the packages and metal boxes.
As the layers of packaging were peeled away in Karl's hands, a cold metallic luster was finally revealed—a chrome-plated mechanical arm lay quietly in shock-absorbing foam, gleaming with a chilling silver light in the dimly lit container. Its iconic design and unique texture made Karl instantly recognize this "legendary artifact."
“Johnny,” Carl said, shaking the mechanical arm in his hand, “I’ve found your ‘Silver Hand’.”
“What silver hand… wait!” Johnny’s projection abruptly turned to Carl, and when he saw the arm clearly, the holographic image suddenly flickered violently, like a human gasping for breath. “Damn! This can’t be—” “Your arm, from 2077,” Carl said deliberately in an auction house tone, “with fifty years of historical significance.”
"That Adam Hammer, that perverted collector!" Johnny's projection instantly exploded into a sea of red specks. The mechanical dog's body rampaged inside the container, its metal claws scraping against the container's metal surface with a piercing sound. "I should have blasted his brains out and made them into specimens back then!"
Carl looked at the furious Johnny and shook his head inwardly.
This guy is obviously overthinking things—putting aside whether it's even possible, even if Adam Hammer really treasured it as a trophy, why would he casually hand it over to his underling for safekeeping, and why would it remain untouched for six months after its master's death? It's more like some kind of amusing little trinket that was casually tossed to his underling.
He turned to the unopened tin box and suddenly became even more curious about its contents.
Johnny Silverhand already has a car and an arm, so it can't be...
When Carl realized that everything here was likely related to Johnny Silverhand, Johnny Silverhand also reacted. He stopped worrying about his car and arm and instead looked at the unopened metal box in Carl's hand:
"Don't tell me that the metal box contains my sunglasses or my hair, that would make me feel really disgusted."
"Probably not."
Carl weighed the box in his hand: "It's a bit heavy, like there's something quite heavy inside."
It's a rather heavy thing, just one piece.
Karl suddenly seemed to know what this was.
"Johnny, you should have something else with you, along with your arm, right?"
"The thing that came with the arm, you mean?"
"gun."
When Johnny Silverhand died on the Arasaka Tower, according to him, he fought to the very end while gripping his gun tightly. Since his arm has appeared, his gun will naturally appear here as well.
Regarding the gun, Karl said he was very interested, very interested.
The renowned Mallorian, specially made for rock star Johnny Silverhand, is the only one of its kind in the world.
Semi-automatic, equipped with Prototype Smart Connect, compatible with various ammunition, and features three firing modes: ricochet, wall-penetrating, and incendiary.
While Karl wouldn't say he's a gun enthusiast, as a mercenary, he'd still like to get his hands on a famous and awesome gun and play with it.
Just as he expected, when the iron box was opened, the Malorian with Johnny Silver Hand was lying in the middle of the cotton covering the box.
