Chapter 318, 1.21-34: The Girl Imprisoned in the Tower
With her cool, silver eyes, Mu Yegui quietly watched the little boy standing in front of the garden table. Her expression remained as calm as ever, without the slightest surprise or astonishment.
Little Lanlos suddenly smiled broadly and sweetly greeted, "Hello, sister."
Mu Yegui's mouth gaped slightly, completely unprepared for him to call her that.
"Doesn't your sister like me calling you that?" Lanlos asked innocently and cautiously, tilting his head to the side.
He seemed as if the cold and aloof person he had been before was not him at all, and that everything that had happened before was fake.
Lanlos reached out and grabbed Mu Yegui's hand, smiling broadly. "I've always heard rumors about my sister, and I'm so happy to finally meet her today!"
Are you happy...?
Mu Yegui's expression remained calm, his cool silver eyes carrying a hint of scrutiny.
Seeing that Mu Yegui remained silent, Lanluos frowned slightly, lowered his head in disappointment, and whispered, "Sister, don't you believe me?" He looked like an abandoned puppy, very pitiful.
The golden mark between his brows was like a gift from the gods, making his youthful and handsome face even more exquisite. Rejecting him would have been a heinous crime.
"Nothing much. Can we talk about the Dark King? Laziness asked me to personally hand him over to you." Mu Yegui raised his hand and summoned the Nightmare Book, speaking calmly.
Before she could even open the Nightmare Book, a small hand pressed down on its cover. It seemed like she wasn't using much force, but it actually managed to stop Mu Yegui from continuing the conversation.
"Sister, I've discovered a really delicious flower tea. Let's go have afternoon tea together." He suggested with a sweet smile, as if he had discovered something new and exciting and wanted to share it with someone.
They completely ignored the topic of Mu Yegui.
"Can we finish the important business first?" Mu Yegui asked again.
Lanlos continued to ignore Mu Yegui's words and asked to himself, "Would you like rose tea or butterfly pea and orchid tea, sister?"
Mu Yegui: "..."
"Will butterfly pea orchids work? I'll have someone make them right away!" Lanlos laughed happily, and then ran out.
After Lanlos left, Mu Yegui sighed softly and said in a low voice, "I always felt that he was a very troublesome child. I don't know what Lazy meant by personally handing him over."
He ignored her words time and time again, clearly not wanting to continue the topic.
Thinking back to the aloof and arrogant Lanlos I had met before, and now to the incredibly attentive and cheerful Lanlos, they seem like completely different people.
Was it intentional or...?
"Sorry to keep you waiting!" Lanlos climbed onto the garden chair in front of Mu Yegui, sat opposite her, and smiled as sweetly as ever.
sweet……
It always felt like it was meant to describe a girl, but it's actually quite fitting to use it on Lanlos right now.
The maid tremblingly placed the snacks on the garden table, whether out of fear or something else, it was hard to tell.
Lanlos's smile remained perfect, as if he genuinely saw that she was very happy.
She and he had never met before, so why was he so happy to see her?
“I’ve never met you before,” Mu Yegui said slowly.
"But what does this have to do with my admiration for my sister, my desire to get to know her, and my wish to be on good terms with her?" Lanlos blinked innocently.
"The crown prince is a candidate for king, or you could call him a backup. But there are so many crown princes, while there can only be one king. If I had to choose, I would only want my sister to be my king!" Lanlos smiled sweetly, seemingly as innocent as a child. But if you had seen him before, this expression would have taken on a deeper meaning.
Which side is the real Lanlos?
Or is it that both sides are...?
"Can you stay, sister?" Lanlos looked up at Mu Yegui with her silver eyes and asked cautiously.
"I should leave now that I've finished dealing with the Dark King. There are people waiting for me," Mu Yegui said softly, shaking his head.
The moment she finished speaking, Lanlos's smile vanished. His face turned cold, displaying an indifference that was completely out of character, and he said in a low voice, "Is it jealousy?"
His tone was full of disgust, as if jealousy were an eyesore of garbage.
"Lanlos probably doesn't know Qi, right?" Mu Yegui narrowed his silver eyes, speaking with a pointed remark.
Lanlos was surprised for a moment, then put on a sweet smile again and denied it, "Of course I don't know him, but I've heard rumors about him. He's a scumbag. Sister, please don't like him, okay?"
“This has nothing to do with whether I like him or not, but your attitude towards him is very strange. I’m suddenly interested in hearing your opinion of him,” Mu Yegui said softly, looking at the blue butterfly pea and orchid tea in front of her.
His cool, silver eyes were perfectly calm, like a deep, ancient pool that could not be disturbed by the slightest ripple.
A gentle breeze stirred, lifting strands of misty gray hair.
Lanlos tapped the table lightly with his fingers, as if he were considering how to answer. He exuded a composure that was unusual for him, and even when Mu Yegui questioned him, he did not show the slightest panic or fear.
He remained incredibly calm from beginning to end, as if everything was going according to plan.
"Because I love my sister, of course I would hate it if other men got close to her." Lanlos glanced at Mu Yegui cautiously, then suddenly lowered his head, his delicate and beautiful face flushed slightly, like a ripe apple.
Mu Yegui remained silent, feeling that this was just an excuse, but he could sense Lanlos's seriousness.
There was no way to refute him.
"Can't you stay, sister?" Lanlos asked softly.
He asked the question again, which made Mu Yegui start to take it seriously.
This question seems to have a deeper meaning; it's not about whether she will leave later, but whether she can stay by his side forever.
"This is our first time meeting. Do you think I'll stay?" Mu Yegui countered.
“I love my sister so much… I wish my sister could stay…” Lanlos ignored Mu Yegui’s question once again and said to himself.
“If you can’t continue with the Dark King’s affairs, I think it’s about time I left,” Mu Yegui said as he slowly stood up.
Lanlos remained silent, but the instant Mu Yegui passed by him, he reached out and grabbed Mu Yegui's wrist, his attitude carrying a hint of force.
He stared at the flower tea in front of him without turning to look at Mu Yegui. His face was grim, and he lowered his voice, saying coldly, "Fine, let's talk about the Dark King."
Little Lanlos is so cute!
The previous godfather of Lanlos has completely left the stage; the current Lanlos is this adorable little boy.
She calls me "sister" so sweetly!
