Chapter 471: 12 Grimmauld Place
Chapter 471: 12 Grimmauld Place
The night swallowed up the last ray of light in the sky, and Ada, full of anger, walked sullenly on the street.
After passing through a messy and deserted small square, Ada stood in front of a row of old houses. The kind of old buildings that greatly affected the appearance of the city.
The houses here looked a little eerie at night, as if a hideous monster would jump out of them at any time. Counting the house numbers silently, Ada stopped between house number 11 and house number 13.
After a while, I saw a tattered door appear out of nowhere between the two houses, followed by dirty walls and gloomy windows. It was as if an extra house had suddenly expanded and pushed away everything on both sides.
12 Grimmauld Place, headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix.
Walking up the broken stone steps, Ada drew her wand and knocked on the door with peeling paint. There was a loud sound of metal hitting and a sound like a chain rattling. Then, the door creaked open.
Stepping over the threshold and into the almost dark hallway, Ada saw a pair of blue eyes rolling around.
"Nice to meet you, Professor Moody," Ada said. The Eye belonged to Alastor Moody, the best of the best professors, who had never taught Defense Against the Dark Arts for a second.
A row of old-fashioned gas lamps on the wall suddenly lit up, casting a flickering, unreal light on the peeling wallpaper and worn and frayed carpet in the long, gloomy hallway.
"I haven't been a professor for a second," said Moody gruffly. "Arthur said you'd come today, but you didn't expect to be here this late. Got into trouble out there?"
Moody limped towards the house with Ada.
Ada, who was following Moody, said, "No, I just went to meet a paranoid idiot. We talked for a long time, so I'm late."
There was a sound of hurried footsteps, and Mrs. Weasley came out of a door at the other end of the hall. She walked towards them in two steps, with a warm smile on her face.
"My dear, you are finally here." Mrs. Weasley hugged Ada tightly, then pushed her away a little and looked at Ada carefully.
"I'm hungry. Are there any meatballs?" Ada whispered. She didn't intend to mention that she was going to see Percy, as it would only make Mrs. Weasley more sad.
Mrs. Weasley pushed Ada towards the door she had just walked out of. She said, "Of course, there is one, Ada! I saved it for you in advance."
Behind the door was a cavernous room with rough stone walls and a long wooden table littered with parchment scrolls, goblets, and empty bottles.
Mr. Weasley and his eldest son Bill were sitting at the end of the table, their heads close together, whispering something. When he heard the door open, Mr. Weasley stood up and walked over to Ada.
He proudly said to the people in the room: "Esmeralda Drizzt, I think you must have heard of her name more or less!"
As he spoke, Mr. Weasley's bald head seemed to shine a little brighter. He was proud of Ada from the bottom of his heart.
"Of course, I know her very well." Sirius said in surprise, "This crazy girl left a foot-long scar on my shoulder!"
Sitting next to Sirius was Lupin. The gentle werewolf professor stretched out his hand and pretended to take off his friend's clothes. He smiled and said, "I don't believe it's a foot long. Take it off and let us see it!"
Tonks, with her bubblegum pink hair, waved her hands excitedly, but accidentally knocked the cup on the table to the ground.
Without having time to speak, Tonks immediately bent down to pick up the cup that had fallen under the table. She picked up the cup safely, but when she stood up, her head hit the wooden table hard again, causing her eyes to tear up in pain.
Fortunately, everyone grabbed their belongings in advance, so Tonks avoided making a mess.
Kingsley Shacklebolt put down the bottle in his hand and waved to Ada. He said, "We finally have a chance to meet! Do you want to have a drink to celebrate?"
Mrs. Weasley, who was passing by Kingsley at this time, slapped him hard and said, "If you want to drink, drink it yourself. Don't use Ada as an inducement."
Kingsley spread his hands, shrugged his shoulders and raised his eyebrows. These three actions were completed in one go, using silent language to resist Mrs. Weasley's "tyranny".
"Hestka Jones." Weasley pointed to a witch next to Kingsley and introduced her. Hestka, who had black hair and rosy cheeks, waved her hand. "That's Emmeline Vance." A dignified and elegant witch nodded slightly. She sat on the other side of Hestka Jones.
"Let Ada sit down first, Arthur!" Mrs. Weasley said sternly, pinching her waist, frowning, and glaring at her husband. Behind Mrs. Weasley was a large pot with steam coming out.
Mr. Weasley, who was a little henpecked, immediately cleared a seat for Ada to sit down, which happened to be opposite Tonks.
Mrs. Weasley came over with a plate of steaming hot meatballs. The delicious food instantly swept away Ada's tiredness from the day.
After a while, footsteps were heard again in the house. Before the door opened, the Weasley twins appeared in the kitchen.
"I said don't Apparate in the room!" Mrs. Weasley yelled at the twins.
Fred and George promised their mother, but turned around and used their wands to summon the pumpkin juice in her hand. The twins sat on both sides of Ada, winking at her.
"For heaven's sake!" cried Mrs. Weasley, "even if you two are able to perform spells outside school, you don't have to take out your wands for everything!"
As Mrs. Weasley shouted, the kitchen door opened and Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny walked into the room one after another.
Crookshanks and Garlon followed into the kitchen. The off-white Garlon ran towards Ada in a flattering manner, but was ignored by Ada who was concentrating on enjoying the food. The ginger Crookshanks jumped onto the table like an arrow and moved the cork back and forth on the table.
The twins were chattering in Ada's ear about how they had passed the Apparition test, and how many orders they had taken recently without Mrs. Weasley's knowledge...
They are all trivial things, but they make people feel very interesting.
There were also the sounds of Mr. Weasley and Bill talking about Bill's new job; the sounds of Sirius and Lupin playing around, as they were still wondering whether the scar on their shoulders was a foot long; and the sounds of laughter, which were the sounds of Tonks making Harry and the others laugh.
Ada liked this feeling, and it would be even better if this place wasn't dirty and wasn't the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix.
Suddenly, a sharp creaking sound was heard in the kitchen, which was extremely inconsistent with everything around it.
Then Moody's gruff voice came on, and he said, "Give me a glass of water, please, Molly."
"Mad-Eye, it's a queer, disgusting thing to do, isn't it?" said Tonks in a friendly and easygoing tone. "Ada's still eating!"
Ada lowered her head and had no idea what was going on. She heard Fred whisper in her ear, "Don't raise your head. Don't raise your head!"
"Trust us and don't look up." George also said in a low voice, "You will thank us."
Ada was not interested at first, as Tonks' words made her not want to look up at all. But the twins' whispering in her ear aroused Ada's curiosity, making her want to know what Moody had done.
Unable to suppress her curiosity, Ada raised her head. She saw Moody took out his magic eye and placed it in a silver cup with the family emblem printed on it.
Moody poked the magic eye with his hand, causing it to sink and float. Fortunately, the cup was not transparent, otherwise Ada would have seen the eye whizzing around. After poking it several times, Moody finally fished out the magic eye and put it back.
Returning to its proper place, the evil eye first stared at everyone in the room one by one, and then began to spin rapidly, as if it was equipped with a motor.
Ada finally understood why Alastor Moody was called Mad-Eye. It was not because he was a little crazy, but because of that rapidly rotating magic eye.
Looking at the blue eyes, Ada suddenly felt a little confused, as if she was carsick.
At this moment, behind Ida's back, Fred and George revealed their true faces. The two brothers clapped their hands quietly.
