The Hogwarts Emerald
Chapter 470 The Biggest Fool in the World
Chapter 470 The Biggest Fool in the World
It is getting dark but not yet late, and the gray-blue sky is a rare gentle moment in the day.
On the street, pedestrians are hurrying along with their heads down, and no one will stop to appreciate the sky at this moment. After a day of running around, they want to return to their warm homes and share today's fun with their families.
Ada stood at the street corner, still wearing the dark green dress, her figure brightened up the gray buildings around her. She was waiting for someone, someone who refused to go home.
The sky darkened a little more, and suddenly a young man with fiery red hair appeared on the corner of the street. He wore a pair of glasses on his nose, looked lonely, and his neat and tidy clothes could not hide his fatigue.
Percy Weasley, the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Weasley.
He had fallen out with his family this summer and moved to London alone to pursue his dream of power. Every day after get off work, Percy would Apparate on this street corner and return to his small home.
This street corner is very quiet, and even the most naughty children rarely come here, but today Ada was waiting for him here in advance.
Percy naturally saw Ada in the shadows, but he did not step forward to say hello.
Percy lowered his head, pretending that he saw no one, and walked away quickly. However, before he took a few steps, a tall man with thick hair blocked his way.
"Sergei, get out of the way." Ada ordered behind Percy, "Don't block the way of the distinguished Mr. Weasley, otherwise he will find a reason to put you in Azkaban."
The hairy man stepped aside and closed his eyes.
The road was cleared, but Percy did not leave. He turned around and looked at Ada. He said coldly: "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be celebrating at the Burrow now? Celebrating that you let Harry Potter escape punishment."
"Oh, you still recognize me, and you still remember the Burrow." Ada said, "I thought the popular man in front of the minister had forgotten all these!"
Percy didn't want to listen to Ada's sarcasm, nor did he want to argue with Ada.
He turned back and wanted to go home. No, home is where the family is. The place Percy Weasley went back to was just a house, an empty house.
"Let's talk for a while, just alone." Ada said, "Just you and me."
"There's nothing much to talk about," Percy said, his back turned to Ada, "I'm busy and have a lot to do."
"Are you busy with your crucible bottom thickness problem that can change history, or are you busy monitoring your parents?" Ada asked unhappily, "Or has the minister given you an important task?"
There was a lot of sarcasm in the words, and Percy's face suddenly turned ugly and he stopped walking.
After crossing the dirty and narrow streets, Ada and Percy came to a small coffee shop. This small shop on the street was a little dirty and messy, and the waiter's attitude was also very bad.
Percy put his hands around the coffee cup, his eyes never leaving the coffee, he said: "The coffee here is very good, you can try it."
Ada had no desire to try the coffee in front of her, for fear that something might come out of the cup.
"Oh, sorry, I forgot." Percy said, "You are the eldest daughter of the Rosier family now, and your identity has changed long ago..." It was a very sad sentence.
Percy took a sip of coffee and continued, "Tell me what you want to talk about. If you want to persuade me to go back, then there's no need to speak. It's a waste of each other's time."
Of course he knew the purpose of Ada's visit, so he just stopped her from talking to avoid embarrassing both of them.
"We've known each other for so many years. Do you think what you said is useful?" Ada looked outside through the window and just happened to see Sergei's figure.
Percy sighed and said, "I won't go back. You are all wrong. You have all been deceived by Dumbledore..."
"I saw it with my own eyes." Ada said quickly, "Have you forgotten about Ginny so quickly? She's your own sister!"
Ida continued, "Or have you been blinded by so-called power? Look at your power. It allows you to live in such a shabby place and let a fool order you around like a dog!"
Percy wanted to refute, but Ada was right, he did live in this dirty and shabby place, and his position in the Ministry of Magic had not been improved.
The reason why he could become the minister's assistant now was just because Fudge wanted to use him.
"This is just an appearance. The minister trusts me very much!" Percy said, but he himself didn't believe it and said it without confidence.
He took a sip of coffee to adjust himself, then said, "I have only been in the Ministry for a short time, and my political career has just begun. I will become more and more important, closer to the core of power. I can do it."
Percy, the Weasley child with the least sense of humor, is terribly stubborn.
The Weasleys treated Ada well and regarded her as their daughter, and Ada also regarded the Weasleys as her family. Ada didn't want to make them sad, so she had to persuade Percy, hoping that Percy would change his mind.
But seeing Percy like this, Ada's idea was doomed to fail. "Go back, they miss you very much." Ada picked up the coffee cup, but couldn't drink it.
"What are you going back for? Are you being teased by Fred and George?" Percy also looked out the window. The blurry glass made his face look a little distorted and he couldn't recognize his original appearance.
Percy went on to say, "I don't want to be like my father, wasting my life in an insignificant position. Let the children wear old robes and use old textbooks. I know what you are going to say, I just don't want to live like this anymore. Is that wrong?"
"You are not wrong, but Mr. and Mrs. Weasley are wrong?" Ida put the cup on the table. "You broke up with your family, ran to London alone, and pledged allegiance to the damn Ministry of Magic. So you can live a so-called good life?"
Percy scratched his hair irritably, which made it look like it was burning like wildfire.
He said, "You know nothing! From the first day I entered the Ministry, I was influenced by my father's reputation, 'Ah, it's Arthur Weasley's son'. Everyone who saw me said that!"
"I finally gained Mr. Crouch's trust, but he disappeared and died! The people in the Ministry of Magic don't trust me, they are investigating me." Percy said almost crazily, "Just because my last name is Weasley, I am the son of Arthur Weasley!"
Paranoia. Percy is a paranoid at this moment. He only believes what he sees and thinks.
The setbacks in his career made his ambitions more intense, and he attributed his failure to his background and to the fact that his father, who also worked in the Ministry of Magic, dragged him down.
In reality, anyone in Percy's position would have been subject to an internal investigation after Barty Crouch disappeared. This has nothing to do with Mr. Weasley's position or his status.
However, Percy himself could not see this, he was blinded by his ambition.
"I struggled step by step to get rid of my father's bad reputation, but what was the result?" Percy continued, "He openly stood on Dumbledore's side, openly opposed the Ministry of Magic, and supported the argument that 'the mysterious man is back'. Did he ever think about me?"
"Bad reputation? Arthur Weasley?" Ada asked uncertainly, "That's the funniest joke I've ever heard! You have a better sense of humor than Fred and George."
Ada was really speechless! If it weren't for the children, Mr. Weasley could have just lived his own life with Mrs. Weasley like last time, ignoring the storm outside.
But now it's different, Mr. Weasley is the head of the family, he has to consider the children. That's why he stands on Dumbledore's side, he doesn't want his children to live in a dark world.
"Mr. Weasley's decision was made after careful consideration and for everyone's sake." Ada said patiently, "The mysterious man is back. This is an indisputable fact, Percy."
Percy suddenly laughed, a loud, piercing laugh.
He said indifferently: "Of course, I know, you saw it with your own eyes! But so what, that is not a reason for you to rebel against the Ministry of Magic. You are now like those bad students in school, complacent because of breaking the school rules!"
"We were never rebelling against the Ministry of Magic, but against Fudge who refused to believe the facts," said Ada, who was now very disappointed with Percy.
Percy took off his glasses and threw them on the table, rubbing his red eyes tiredly.
"I don't think there is any difference. Harry can oppose the Ministry of Magic, and he has the support of Dumbledore. You can also oppose the Ministry of Magic, and you not only have Dumbledore, you also have Rosier. As for Weasley, we have nothing but the title of pure-blood."
Percy's voice was somewhat sad, but also contained a hint of determination. He continued, "You can all retreat and bow to the Ministry of Magic at any time. But Weasley can't. Weasley has nowhere to retreat. I don't want to go on like this. I want to climb up, to a position where no one dares to ignore me. For this, I will spare no expense!"
Ada said bluntly, "You are like a baby who only knows how to cry for milk, a coward who only knows how to complain!" Then she stood up and wanted to leave. She was extremely disappointed with Percy Weasley.
"You make me feel very strange." Ada said coldly, "You are dominated by your inferiority, paranoia and ambition. You are not worthy of the Weasley family name now. Also, please call me Miss Drizzt in the future. Please remember this!"
"If you can, please take care of Ron and Ginny for me. They are still young."
Ada didn't respond. She put a banknote at the bottom of her coffee cup and walked out of her seat. She continued, "Goodbye! No, goodbye! Mr. Weatherby!"
With that, he strode out of the crowded, noisy Muggle cafe.
"Weatherby, huh!" Percy murmured, and his eyes were no longer red when he put his glasses on again.
He picked up Ada's untouched cup of coffee and poured it into his own cup. He took a sip and it was bitter. He reached out to add sugar, but happened to see Ada looking at him from the window.
Through the somewhat blurry glass, Percy saw Ada opening her mouth to speak.
He didn't hear clearly what was said, but he knew clearly what his sister wanted to express.
Percy Ignatius Weasley is the biggest fool in the world!
