Chapter 107 Christmas is Coming

"Aragog was my friend. It wouldn't be nice for me to be like this right after he died." Hagrid said sadly.

"Hagrid, the dead are dead, but the living must continue to live. I think Aragog would be happy in heaven if he knew he could help you. Besides, I think Dumbledore took a lot of risks when he kept you here. At least after you clear your grievances, you can avoid people thinking that Dumbledore is shielding a criminal," Ryan patted Hagrid on the back and advised him.

"You're right, I shouldn't just think about myself. Dumbledore is a good man and has helped me a lot. I can't cause him any more trouble." Hagrid said solemnly after thinking for a moment.

After drinking tea for a while, Ryan and the others said goodbye to Hagrid, and when they left, everyone's pocket was filled with Hagrid's homemade milk candy.

"Giant spiders that eat people. I don't know why Hagrid kept those things. It's a good thing they're dead now." Ron commented on the way.

"That's not a good way to put it. After all, Hagrid is our friend." Harry said with a frown.

"This has nothing to do with whether Hagrid is a friend or not." Ryan said. "As far as I know, Ron's twin brother went to the Forbidden Forest for adventure in the second grade. I think there are not many students who love adventure, but there are still some. Think about it, Acromanthus likes to eat people. What would happen if they encountered these Acromanthus? So I think it's a good thing that the Acromanthus disappeared from the Forbidden Forest."

"Right." Harry said after a moment's silence. "Who do you think could kill so many spiders in one go?"

This question triggered a discussion among the three people. Finally, after Ryan's efforts, Harry and Ron agreed that a passing dragon killed the spider. The reason was that Hagrid said he found many traces of fire. If it was a dark wizard, they would not give up the expensive venom and use fire to kill the giant spider.

The next few days were uneventful, but a week before Christmas, an investigation team consisting of members of the Ministry of Magic's Department of Magical Law Enforcement arrived at Hogwarts.

They first went to Hagrid's hut and Myrtle's bathroom to ask around, and finally went to the headmaster's office.

The classmates were discussing privately and guessing what these people were here for, but no one figured it out until they left.

Two days later, a notice posted in the school cleared everyone's doubts. The notice said that Hagrid had been banned from using magic because he was a serious suspect in a murder case. Now it has been found that he is innocent of the murder case and the Ministry of Magic made a misjudgment at the time.

The efficiency of the Ministry of Magic is very high. This is completely different from the situation in the original story when Harry encountered Dementors in his fourth year. Ryan thinks this may be because Dumbledore knew through the diary and memories that it was Voldemort who reported Hagrid. In addition, Hagrid has now found solid evidence (the remains of the Acromantula) and a witness (Myrtle).

Unlike the fifth grade in the original book, Dumbledore's prestige is very high now, and the Ministry of Magic must respect Dumbledore. The people who caused the wrong judgment have nothing to do with the current magic, and most of them have even passed away. This kind of reversal of the case will not affect the authority of the Ministry of Magic. Even if it is properly publicized, it can create an image of the Ministry of Magic that is upright and corrects its mistakes. So the Ministry of Magic naturally gave the green light all the way on this matter.

After seeing the notice, Ryan and Hermione took some time to congratulate Hagrid (Ryan and Hagrid have a good relationship. After all, everyone is willing to get close to a good person with a simple personality.)
Looking at Hagrid's happy smile and his mental outlook that seemed to have suddenly become ten years younger, Ryan suddenly felt that it was a good thing for him to kill Aragog. After all, when the Acromantula was alive, it brought great trouble to the Forbidden Forest and Hagrid, but once it died, all the problems were solved. A few days later, it was the second week of December, and Professor McGonagall came to collect the names of students who stayed in school for Christmas as usual. Ryan signed the list; because his parents said they were going to ski in the Austrian Alps for their fifteenth wedding anniversary, Ryan felt that he should not be a light bulb.

Ryan felt a little disappointed that he could only look for the treasure Nick mentioned during the summer vacation. However, Dave also informed him that everything he needed would be ready before Christmas. Ryan thought that he could kill the basilisk in the secret room while there were few people in the school.

In the next few days, Ryan went to Hagrid to help him master some simple spells whenever he was free, and showed off his cooking skills when he missed dinner (at least better than Hagrid, the assassin's heritage is all-encompassing, including cooking for survival in the wild. And the traditional Chinese medicine heritage also has medicinal cooking).

With his cooking skills, Ryan used the excuse of making something from his hometown to successfully get four or five roosters from Hagrid and raised them in the Wanjie Grocery Store.

Finally, the semester was over, and the silence, as heavy as the snow on the ground, enveloped the entire castle. Ryan found that many Gryffindor students stayed behind, including Harry, who stayed every year, and the Weasley brothers, because this year the Weasleys were going to Romania to see Bill, and the sensible brothers decided not to go with them to avoid putting financial pressure on their family.

The dawn of Christmas arrived, the weather was cold and white everywhere. Ryan got up early that morning, and the dormitory was empty. His roommates had all gone home for Christmas.

After getting out of bed, Ryan found that the gifts had been placed on the floor at the head of the bed. His parents gave him a Swarovski crystal ball and a postcard of Salzburg. Harry gave him a copy of "Common Magic" and the Weasley twins gave him a large box of candy, but Ryan planned to find out what it was before eating it. He suspected that it was a test product of the Weasley brothers. Ron gave him another copy of "101 Household Spells". Was he just a nerd in the eyes of Harry and Ron? Ryan thought.

Hagrid's gift was very unique, it was a large piece of fudge. When Ryan learned that Harry and Ron also got the same gift, he knew that Hagrid must have made a large pot in one go and distributed it to his friends.

The most expensive gift came from Hermione, which was Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration Notes from her school days. As expected, top students get preferential treatment from professors. Fortunately, Ryan had an idea this time and gave Professor Sprout's handwritten Herbology Notes, which was not rude at all.

At the Christmas dinner at Hogwarts, everyone enjoyed the meal with gusto. Because there were few people staying at school, the empty hall looked even more magnificent. There were not only a dozen Christmas trees covered with silver frost, and thick ribbons of mistletoe and holly crisscrossing on the ceiling, but also magical snow, warm and dry, gently falling from the ceiling.

The professors were also happy. Dumbledore led them in singing some of his favorite Christmas carols, and Hagrid's voice became louder and louder as he drank glass after glass of eggnog. Percy didn't notice that Fred had cast a spell to change the word "Dumbo" on his prefect badge, and stupidly kept asking everyone what they were laughing at. Draco made his usual taunts to Harry, and then got taunted back. Everyone was happy.

Ryan ate as much as he could because he had a big workout waiting for him in the evening.
