Hogwarts Raven's Claw
Chapter 9 The Good Life in Ravenclaw
Chapter 9 The Good Life in Ravenclaw
After Mike was welcomed to a chair by the enthusiastic seniors, they began to introduce themselves to each other.
When they learned that Mike was of Muggle origin and an orphan, the female seniors around him began to comfort Mike with overflowing maternal love, and only a few people showed contempt.
Mike looked at the beautiful girls surrounding him and couldn't help but sigh: "It's really a good decision to come to Ravenclaw!"
The three saviors were assigned to Gryffindor just like in the original book. When Harry learned that he and Mike were not in the same college, he almost cried. Although they had only spent a short time together, Harry had already regarded Mike as his good friend.
It was already late at night when the banquet ended. Mike and others followed the seniors to the entrance of Ravenclaw's common room, in front of the eagle-head door knocker.
“What is the most precious treasure of mankind?”
"Extraordinary intelligence and talent are mankind's most precious wealth!" the Ravenclaws said in unison.
The door opened silently.
"Please remember this sentence." The female headmaster said to everyone, "Our Ravenclaw students are the smartest among the four major colleges, and they also sail the farthest in the ocean of knowledge. I hope this sentence can guide you to go further."
When everyone finally stepped into the Ravenclaw common room, it was as if they had arrived at a library made up of pure blue.
The bookshelves against the wall were densely packed with books, all of which were donations from generations of Ravenclaw students.
Most of them are the old notes and homework of Ravenclaws, as well as some novels, biographies and magic books.
These books are one of the reasons why Mike chose Ravenclaw. With these notes, Mike will be able to get in touch with more spells that can only be learned in higher grades.
As for the imbalanced gender ratio in Ravenclaw, with boys being a very small minority, that can only be considered an unexpected gain.
Because there are so few boys, Ravenclaw's boys' dormitories are single rooms, which are much better than the bunk beds in other colleges.
Mike's first class at Hogwarts was Professor Snape's Potions class, and it was two consecutive classes.
In class, Professor Snape gave his usual speech on death and glory.
Mike's guess was correct. Snape said these words to the freshmen every year.
However, Mike's crucible with a very thin bottom was obviously not capable of brewing magic potions. It couldn't even make the simplest sleeping potion, which was used to motivate the young wizards. As expected, it exploded.
What surprised Mike was that after seeing Mike's overly thin cauldron, Snape, with a gloomy face, did not deduct points from Ravenclaw, but only gave him a verbal scolding.
At the end of the class, he even kept Mike and gave him a second-hand but almost intact cauldron, and warned him that if the same thing happened again in Potions class, he would be put in detention.
Mike held the crucible in his hand and didn't care about Snape's warning. You know, he used to be a "cook" in the gang and was no stranger to chemical pharmaceuticals.
What surprised him was Snape's attitude. It seemed that Snape's malice was largely directed only at Gryffindor and Harry Potter.
There were not many classes at Hogwarts, so Mike had a lot of free time, and he spent all of it reading books in the Ravenclaw common room.
Unlike students in other colleges who go to play in the castle after class, there are many Ravenclaws like Mike who choose to read books.
So Mike was happy.
When he got tired of reading, he would flirt with the female classmates around him. When he didn't understand something, he would ask the female seniors for help.
Mike spent so much time with those women that he even felt that he had the same body scent as them.
If this body wasn't too small, Mike would have already started to take action. You know, in Hogwarts, girls can enter the boys' dormitory at will.
After a long period of study, Mike found that rote learning and working in isolation was not feasible.
After consulting senior students, he felt that he had benefited a lot. The few magics he had learned by himself were full of flaws. But when he asked the seniors why his spells were always so weak, no one could give him an answer. They just said that it might be because Mike's magic power was still too weak.
Mike was dismissive of this. You haven't seen my magic burst, and you say I don't have enough magic? You are kidding.
Soon it was Mike's first Charms class, and the teacher was their head of house, Professor Flitwick.
In class, Professor Flitwick taught them a simple spell, "Stick the stick in the front teeth."
Mike, who already had some basic knowledge, made the little mouse on the table grow two huge front teeth almost at the same time as Professor Flitwick.
"That's great! Ten points for Ravenclaw! I've never had a little wizard with such outstanding talent!" Flitwick was so excited that he almost fell off the podium. "Oh, the lady from Gryffindor did a good job too. Five points for Gryffindor."
Hermione glared at Mike fiercely, then looked at the little mouse on the table with the same big buck teeth as hers. She felt like the whole world was against her, and her eyes couldn't help but turn red.
But Mike didn't have time to pay attention to Hermione's reaction, he had to make a good impression on Professor Flitwick.
After class, Mike did not rush out of the classroom like the other little wizards, but waited until Professor Flitwick packed up his things and then went up to ask.
"Professor Flitwick, could you spare me a moment of your time? I have some questions about spells."
"Of course! Mike, why don't we go to my office and talk? I also have something I want to talk to you about." Professor Flitwick agreed immediately.
In the corridor, Mike found that although Professor Flitwick had short legs, his movement speed was not satisfactory. He did not need to slow down at all, but had to walk fast to keep up with Professor Flitwick.
Finally arriving at the office, Professor Flitwick asked him to sit down at the desk and poured him a cup of tea.
"Dear Dean, I feel that the effect of my spells is far behind those of the seniors. Why is that?"
Mike couldn't wait to ask as soon as he sat down.
"Hehe, there are many reasons for this problem. Why don't you cast a spell for me to see?" Flitwick was obviously very happy that Mike called him dean instead of professor, and he almost couldn't stop laughing.
"Wingardim Leviosa!"
Mike took out his wand and cast a levitation spell on the book on the table. The book immediately began to shake slightly, and after a moment it floated up shakily, but fell back onto the table before it floated very high.
"Oh! Excellent levitation spell. With all due respect, Mike, your spell skills are already better than most first-year students. Even many senior students are not as good as you." Flitwick paused, "But I find that you still have room for improvement. You didn't mobilize your emotions when casting magic."
"Emotions?" Mike expressed confusion.
"That's right. The essence of magic is that the magic power in our body is released in a certain way. The waving of the wand and the chanting of the spell when releasing magic are the process of mobilizing magic power."
"But this method of using magic is the lowest level, while mobilizing emotions is a high-level method. When casting a spell, you mobilize your emotions. The stronger your emotions for the success of the spell, the better the effect of your spell will be, until you reach your limit. As for the highest level method, you completely control your magic power and let it operate according to your own ideas."
"This last technique requires a huge amount of knowledge and amazing talent, which is also the premise of silent and wandless casting. Of course, it is still too difficult for you."
Professor Flitwick spoke a long string of words at once, then picked up the teacup on the table and took a big sip.
"Thank you! Your guidance has opened my eyes, Dean." Mike bowed deeply.
Professor Flitwick put down his teacup, looked at Mike with some sympathy, and said, "I've heard about your story, poor child..."
