Stephen and Qian are currently working on "Pope Sulyvahn," a boss that players affectionately call "The King of Pope." This boss is excessively difficult after gaining consciousness, but still much easier than the Farron Undead Legion. So, the two from "Libra" decided to practice on this boss, since it would be too embarrassing to rely on Klaus to carry them through everything.
Zapp is still slightly behind Leo. He accidentally fell into the "Smoky Lake" area while being chased by skeletons and cutting down a bridge. After entering the hidden area, Zapp went to chat with the "Old Demon King".
That being said, Leo had no way to deal with the three Lords of Cinder stuck on the bridge. If he, a complete noob, went up to fight them, he would probably be back at the campfire in less than three seconds. After thinking for a moment, Leo decided to create an Ember first... and call for help.
Leo had intended to ask Klaus to help him out, but he received an unexpected response. Seeing the golden summoning symbol on the ground, Leo summoned the big shot over anyway.
"Do you need the 'Sun Knight' to help you?"
"Mr. Midoriya, didn't you go to the 'Painting World of Ariandel' DLC walkthrough map first?"
"Tsk... that map room, swarming with flies and eggs, caused me both psychological and physical discomfort, so I simply turned back and said goodbye."
"Uh...you're right..."
There are many disgusting maps in Dark Souls, such as Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, which is also among the most disgusting maps. But when it comes to disgusting monsters and disgusting environment... it used to be the toxic gas field of Farron Keep, and was also known by players as "Farron's Shithole". It can be said to be a map designed with malice.
However, after the release of the first DLC for Dark Souls, people realized what it meant to have something even more disgusting... Even just looking at it on screen was disgusting, let alone seeing it in person now.
When he reached almost the "Crow Village," Izuku Midoriya considered for three seconds and decided to turn back. He figured he should just give up on exploring this area... it was too much for a human to handle.
The "Extreme Evil King," who had come to help Leo clear the map by displaying the "Oath of the Sun Knight," also told the boy some good news.
"Aside from the three dogs still on the bridge, the number of Papal Knights in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley has been restored."
"Huh? Really?!"
"Hmm... Because after initially adding consciousness to 'Pope Sulyvahn,' the 'Allergy King,' who found this area completely unconquerable, realized he had gone too far, so he took steps to fix it beforehand."
"Why didn't they fix it sooner! It's impossible to play with something like this. I thought I was going to die countless times later."
"Well... that guy's exact words were: 'As a game developer, I still want to see players be able to complete my high-difficulty levels.'"
"What nonsense! He's not the creator of Dark Souls. Don't try to copy Miyazaki's masochistic designs that make you wish you were dead! 'Allergy King' is a completely ridiculous design that makes you want to die!"
They had countless curses simmering in their hearts. If it weren't for "Allergy King," they wouldn't have come to participate in the game test, and Leo wouldn't have suffered so much undeserved misfortune.
"However, it's hard to say for sure. After all, that guy was involved in the virtual reality remake of Dark Souls, so he still has the right to modify the difficulty of the game after the test is completed and released. So the reason why so many people are participating in the test is to increase the difficulty of the game, but in a way that is just right."
"Then let's not do something that's 'purgatory' level from the very beginning..."
Just thinking about how Mr. Klaus cleared Irithyll of Boreal Valley, relying entirely on the invincibility frames from backstab executions to get through the entire way... Is this even a game for humans to play?
"Once Klaus overcomes the difficulty, the challenges you face in the Boreal Valley and the Royal City of Locris will be much easier. At least you won't have to try to get past the entire city of greatsword Locris riders."
"Wait... Mr. Midoriya, did you just say something terrifying...? The entire royal city is filled with Claymore Riders? Is this the start of a god-slaying frenzy!?"
"Haha~~ Just pretend I didn't say that!"
Looking at the dazed "King of Extreme Evil," Leo could only silently pray that Mr. Klaus's subsequent strategy would go smoothly, hoping that his boss wouldn't encounter too many difficulties.
Holding Anri's Straight Sword, another divine weapon also known as the "Lucky Wife Sword," Midoriya directly applied the "Red Blade of Carthus" to enchant it with Bleeding. Although this Lord of Cinder has a lot of fur, it is not weak to fire, but rather weak to Bleeding... As the saying goes, you need a sharp weapon before you kill a dog. Getting a good weapon will make getting through the difficult situation much faster.
Before heading onto the bridge to kill the dog, Izuku Midoriya stopped again, turned around, and solemnly told Leo something:
"Currently, in Dark Souls, another boss has been given enhanced consciousness, 'Hero Gundyr,' who is a necessary boss to face in order to achieve the 'Extinguish the Fire' ending."
"The straight-line path leads to the 'Reignition' ending, while summoning the Fire Keeper leads to the 'Extinguishing' ending...so..."
"Think about it, why did 'Allergy King' encounter an insurmountable enemy on his path to the fire-extinguishing ending?"
Chapter 52 Virtual Warfare (Fifteen)
"To pass on the fire... and to extinguish it..."
Sitting by the campfire on the street below Irithyll of the Valley, Leo pondered the words of the "Worst King" earlier. After Midoriya helped kill the three Lords of Cinder, he had already returned. Now that the map had been repaired, it was Leo's turn to deal with the challenges on his own.
Dark Souls 3 is a game where the mission is to "link the fire" to continue the life of the world. Players take on the role of the ashes that were once burned to link the fire. The main storyline involves killing the four Lords of Cinder, bringing their firewood back to Firelink Shrine, and then linking the fire.
In the normal progression, "linking the fire" is considered the ending and the game is completed. However, as players continue to explore, they discover that in addition to "linking the fire," there is also "extinguishing the fire," leading to the end of the world with the Fire Keeper wife... But for romantic players, "extinguishing the fire" is the orthodox ending.
To achieve the "Lord of the Ghosts" ending, you have to complete a bunch of troublesome side quests. Overall, it's a difficult and not very good ending because you don't get a wife...
"Stealing Fire"... Well, how should I put it? Players who achieve this ending will probably live a lonely life.
Leo, who was carefully considering the four endings of Dark Souls, found that achieving the "Extinguish the Fire" ending wasn't too difficult. He only needed to defeat the boss "Hero Gundyr" in the "Untold Graveyard" map, and then go to the dark Firelink Shrine to obtain the "Eye of the Fire Keeper." Giving this to the Fire Keeper would max out her affection level, and when he defeated the final boss, he could summon the Fire Keeper to extinguish the fire, ultimately leading to the end of the world with his wife.
Considering the strength of the "Abyss Watcher," Leo estimated that Gundyr, who stood in front of the dark Firelink Shrine, was incredibly powerful, and even Mr. Klaus might not have an easy time getting past him... You see, "Gundyr the Ashen One" and "Hero Gundyr" are two different concepts. One is the teacher who teaches you when you first start learning... The other is the teacher who tests whether your "shield parry" technique is up to standard. If you're not up to standard, you'll have to prepare to go back to the bonfire and try again.
Leo, who was sitting by the campfire, squinting and thinking, was originally part of the "Libra" group who had been unexpectedly dragged into the game. Their goal was to quickly complete "Dark Souls" and get out, but after listening to Mr. Midoriya's words, which seemed to have ulterior motives, Leo, after considering it for a while, directly told Klaus about the situation.
"Since Lord Midoriya has said that, then Leo, tell me how to achieve the 'Extinguish the Fire' ending. Since things are like this now, let's take a little more time and give it a try."
"understand!"
He told Klaus about the requirements and route to achieve the "extinguishing the fire" ending. After clearing the "Giant King Yhorm" in the City of Sin, the leader of "Libra" was heading to the Royal City of Locris.
Leo, on the other side, also got up from the campfire, ready to set off. It was time for him to push through the levels... and then...
"This is outrageous!!"
Leo, inwardly cursing, realized that while the monster population in the Irithyll Valley had indeed returned to normal, with only two or three Papal Knights wandering the streets, ...but!
Why was that shield-wielding Papal Knight able to pull out a horn? Just as Leo was using his bow to draw aggro, this Papal Knight immediately went on the alarm, and instantly three Papal Knights rushed out and chopped Leo back to the campfire.
After calming down the curses that were bubbling up inside him, Leo considered that at least it wasn't like Mr. Klaus facing hundreds of Papal Knights, so it was still an acceptable situation... This time, he changed his tactics. He first lured the one with the curved sword over with a bow and arrow, then used a shield to stab it in the rear and kill it.
Then, from the position of the corner, he threw a "Decoy Skull" forward, because there was still a Curved Blade Papal Knight hiding in the corner, and he couldn't hit it with an arrow... But killing the Papal Knight with the shield first would definitely mean being attacked by two monsters. Leo doesn't have the skill to fight two monsters at the moment. If he faces two elite monsters, he will die and be sent back to the campfire in no time.
Using the most cautious method, Leo said that only in this way could a noob like him pass the game safely. He even considered whether to give up the idea of using the "Wanderer's Greatsword" and instead switch to the "Great Shield Hero" class to safely clear the game.
Irithyll in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley is a map in Dark Souls where the difficulty increases dramatically. The monsters here are either incredibly powerful or disgustingly maddening. For newcomers who haven't even finished the game on their first playthrough, it's a "discouraging" level in almost every aspect. But for Leo, a veteran Dark Souls player, it's just a bit troublesome and difficult, but he can still reliably clear the map.
Using all sorts of survival tactics along the way, Leo was still very lucky to reach the second campfire in the Boreal Valley, the Church of Yorshka... And on the top of this tower, the famous leader of the Darkmoon Knights, Yorshka, was imprisoned... It's one of the few "beautiful sights" to be seen in this game!
"Speaking of which... Mr. Zapp should be arriving in Irithyll of the Valley soon, right?"
"Boss! Help!!"
Leo, who had just been sitting by the campfire pondering Zapp's strategy, heard Zapp's wailing and crying from his "Flame Crystal," and then he knew what was going on.
"What the hell is that?! There are three huge, hairy monsters on the bridge. I was instantly killed and sent back to the campfire the moment I saw them!!"
"It's the Lord of Cinder... I'll mourn for you for three seconds~~ Mr. Zapp, but I'll get through unscathed."
"Damn! You little rascal with the messy hair, how did you even get there?"
"I used a spare flame to get Mr. Midoriya to help me fight it. I wouldn't be stupid enough to go and deliver myself to the enemy if I knew there were strong enemies ahead!"
"Damn it! Boss, come help me!!"
Zapp cried out in despair, pleading for help, only to receive a response that was utterly heartbreaking and despairing.
"Sorry Zapp... I'm about to face the boss 'Yom the Giant King,' and there aren't any other campfires nearby... so I can't come over right now."
"Oh no—my dog and Mr. Stephen, come save me!"
"You useless, dead monkey, you do it yourself! Stephen and I are fighting the boss! We don't have time to help you!!"
Money King, who is currently teaming up with Stephen to take down "Pope Sulyvahn," is stuck here because this boss is so powerful. But as members of "Libra," it would be embarrassing to be unable to defeat a boss.
"Mr. Zapp, keep up the good work!"
Leo, sitting by the church bonfire cheering for Zapp, figured it wasn't really his business anyway, and it was so comfortable to just cling to the big shot and get through the game.
"Damn it! Leo, you messy-haired brat, come help me!!"
"Huh?...I'm so bad, I'd die in no time, I'm totally useless, I'd better give up..."
"I haven't forgotten what happened in the 'Church of the Deep,' you dare lie to me, you little rascal? If you don't come to help this time, I'll definitely kill you after we get out!"
"Well......."
Realizing that Zapp might actually kill him if he went out, Leo decided to obediently go and help Zapp fight the Lord of Cinder. It was better to suffer a little more now than to be hacked to death in reality after he went out.

Chapter 57 Virtual Warfare (Part 20)
Klaus, who had returned to the campfire in the "Unclaimed Graveyard," was surprised to find that his boss had changed his equipment when Leo summoned him.
Wearing gauntlets that were still burning with flames on his hands, these were soul weapons forged by a fire demon, known as the "Demon Gauntlets".
"Mr. Klaus... what is this?"
"At first, I defeated a fire demon in a hidden area of the giant elevator. It seemed that its soul could be used to forge gauntlet weapons, but I didn't know that at the time, so I didn't go and make the exchange."
Klaus, assuming a boxing stance, has always been more adept at hand-to-hand combat than wielding two greatswords.
"If your attack speed is too slow, you'll get parried; if your attack damage is too low, the boss will prioritize killing you. So, this should solve the problem, right?"
Watching Klaus use the "Devil Gauntlets" to smash the monster blocking his way into a spirit in an incredibly beautiful move, Leo figured it might actually work, so he and Klaus once again embarked on their journey to challenge the hero Gundyr.
Upon entering the fog gate of the BOSS area, Leo immediately performed a triple roll to dodge. The next moment, Hero Gundyr's halberd slammed into the fog gate entrance, clearly indicating his intention to kill as soon as he entered.
Leo, who had been hit by this attack for the third time and almost killed instantly, was well prepared this time and skillfully rolled to dodge the hero Gundyr's heavy hammer. Afterwards, Klaus and the katana guy also entered the fog gate area to participate in the BOSS battle.
In order to gain more advantages in the BOSS battle, Leo still summoned the katana guy at the entrance. At least the "expert" could deal some damage and chip away at Leo's health, while Leo could only hide to the side with his shield and survive.
Gundyr's primary target is Leo, the host of fire. Unless someone else can cause life-threatening damage, Gundyr will not shift his "education" focus to another person.
Upon entering, Klaus instantly locked onto Gundyr's back and unleashed a four-hit combo with the "Devil Gauntlets." After finishing the attack, Klaus immediately slid to dodge, and Gundyr's side kick was also dodged by Klaus.
Klaus previously used two greatswords as his weapons. While these heavy weapons could inflict extremely high damage, their slow attack delays often created fatal openings for him.
However, despite the fact that heavy weapons are too slow and sluggish, they have one advantage: they cannot be parried. Therefore, when Dark Souls players are in PvP, they usually use the Greatsword as a warning when dealing with "parryers".
However, what's frustrating is that this hero Gundyr has now undergone some kind of incredible power-up. Not only can he parry even a greatsword attack head-on, but it's also a 100% parry chance... and after parrying, he can even follow up with an execution to instantly kill you.
Furthermore, attacking Gundyr from behind is extremely unsafe now. He could easily deliver a side kick that leaves you half-dead. Basically, in Dark Souls, it's virtually impossible to kill Gundyr in melee combat.
But seriously... I can understand that the melee response mechanism is already disgusting and ridiculous, but what the hell is this thing that instantly changes the aggro lock-on the moment you get attacked from a distance?!
Originally, while the hero Gundyr was at a disadvantage against Mr. Klaus, Leo cunningly pulled out his bow and arrows and used the "Sun Knight" righteous poison arrows to shoot a few times at the hero Gundyr to chip away at his health.
Then... Gundyr, having been hit by Leo's poisoned arrow, leaped into the air without a word, instantly appearing in front of Leo, and then finished him off with a powerful halberd strike, instantly killing Leo at full health...
Before Klaus changed his equipment, Leo and his team were wiped out three times. The first time was when Klaus was accidentally parried and instantly killed. The second time was when Leo was shot with an arrow and was instantly killed by the hero Gundyr who jumped over. The third time was... when Leo hurriedly dodged the hero Gundyr's attack, he accidentally rolled and fell off a cliff... How embarrassing.
Deeply recalling the terrifying Leo from Gundyr, his strategy against the hero Gundyr has taken a new turn this time, along with Klaus's.
Of course, it's not that Leo helped in any way; he was still incredibly weak, hiding in the side with his shield. Now, as the host of fire, Leo felt that the greatest help he could give Mr. Klaus was simply not being instantly killed by Gundyr.
This time, Klaus, now wielding the "Devil Gauntlets," attacked with incredible vigor. As he unleashed a series of powerful punches behind Gundyr, he swiftly slid aside to dodge Hero Gundyr's spinning kick and halberd sweep.
Gundyr has a strong desire to attack; he's like a tireless machine, and as his health decreases, his attack speed becomes so fast it's frightening.
Sliding, rolling, straight punches, and hooks—the flames burning on the "Devil Gauntlets" relentlessly drained Gundy's health bar, and Klaus launched a fierce attack on Gundy at the same rapid pace.
Having faced many terrifying Blood Realm Familiars, Klaus V. Reinherz, after establishing "Libra," fought against numerous otherworldly monsters. He is an unparalleled gentleman and an incomparably brave warrior, whose combat skills were honed through bloodshed and pain.
The swordsman summoned to help in the battle was killed not long after the initial attack. The battle against Hero Gundyr was basically fought by Klaus alone. However, it was precisely his overwhelming strength that he was now displaying that was about to completely defeat this powerful boss.
With the last sliver of health remaining, as the strongest opponent Klaus had ever faced in Dark Souls was about to fall, Klaus simply raised his right fist, burning with raging flames, to meet Gundyr's final, sweeping halberd attack:
"Breglid's Bloodshed Technique!"
In a split second, Klaus slid and ducked to dodge Gundyr's sweeping halberd. Then, he launched a surprise attack with his "Demon Gauntlets," which were burning with raging flames, and slammed them into the ground. The flames that erupted from the ground completely consumed the last bit of health Gundyr had left.
Unnumbered: "Fist of Flames"
Why would Klaus mention such a non-existent fighting technique? Perhaps he believes that the hero Gundyr is a true powerhouse, even if he is just a boss encountered in the game. The fact that he could defeat Klaus and send him back to the campfire several times makes him a worthy of respect.
Finally, after Klaus donned the "Gauntlets" and unleashed his full power, he defeated the hero Gundyr, thus opening the path to the dark Firelink Shrine.
After defeating the area boss, Klaus returned to his own world, and Leo was unable to summon his boss for the rest of the journey. Only two Black Knights remained blocking the way to the sacrificial site. Although they were powerful monsters, they were not much of a problem for Leo, the "righteous Sun Knight".
After telling their boss the exact location of "Fire Keeper's Eyes," Leo and Klaus both obtained the crucial item to achieve the "extinguish the fire" ending.
