Wielding two greatswords, Klaus was no less agile than the Lord of Cinder boss. He skillfully dodged Farron's greatsword slash with a slide step, and then landed a powerful, charged strike with his greatsword on the boss. Even before the boss could retaliate, his other greatsword delivered an even heavier and faster blow to Captain Farron's back.

This was a completely one-sided battle, which made Leo want to shout "Mr. Klaus is awesome!" Leo, who wanted to cheer for his boss, obviously didn't have the chance, because a target had already approached him.

"You little rascal with the messy hair, watch out, you might die!"

The two Farron Undead Legion members who resurrected from the ground did not choose to help their captain. Instead, they launched a surprise attack on Leo, the host of fire. After regaining consciousness and rationality, the BOSS could easily determine who to kill first.

The Farron Undead Legion member charged forward with a sword, but Zapp slid in to dodge the blade attack and then backstab him to finish him off. With his current strength, he can only stop one of them. The rest depends on Leo's performance.

"understand!"

Without panicking or shouting, Leo knew that he now had the power to fight, and he couldn't leave all the trouble to Mr. Klaus and Zapp. He had to make his own efforts occasionally, so Leo took action.

Leo dropped a firebomb on the ground and immediately rolled away. As he expected, the Farron Undead Legion members were stunned into a daze as soon as they reached their original positions and were unable to withstand the attack. Leo, on the other hand, perfectly dodged the first surprise attack.

Instead of launching a backstab or similar combo at the Farron Undead Legion member, Leo rolled to his feet and displayed astonishing running speed, instantly slipping to another part of the area, shield in hand, leaning against the wall in a state of heightened vigilance.

The righteous "Sun Knight" dealt with Leo, who, after chatting with the powerful figure who helped him at Firelink Shrine, learned that the Farron Undead Legion would prioritize attacking the World Lord. It was difficult for others to divert the BOSS's aggro from themselves, and a slight mistake could result in being killed and returning to the bonfire.

Having learned from the experience of the pros in defeating the BOSS, Leo is now using the most cowardly and sneaky tactics. Instead of greedily stabbing for damage, he is doing everything he can to save his own life, which is the greatest help he can give to Mr. Klaus and his team.

"This kid with the messy hair is pretty good at escaping, huh?"

Zapp, impressed by Leo, gracefully slipped behind the Farron Undead Legion member and delivered a clean backstab.

Furthermore, the Farron Undead Squad member who was chasing Leo earlier abandoned his pursuit of Leo because his Red-Eyed Undead Squad teammate, who had been corrupted by the Abyss, was resurrected. Instead, he went to kill his own comrade first, as destroying the Abyss was the sole mission of the "Abyss Watcher."

In this short time, Klaus's battle with the Farron Undead Captain was almost over. The terrifying damage from backstabs and executions, as well as the charged heavy slashes from the greatsword, were unbearable even for a god. The first phase of "Abyss Watcher" was passed under the terrifying output of this "Libra" man.

As the captain of the Farron Undead Legion fell, the wolf blood of all the Undead Legion members present floated and concentrated on his body, and the fallen Farron Undead Legion captain stood up again.

"Phase Two is here!"

Now they are facing the most difficult challenge of the "Abyss Watcher". According to the "Sun Knight", they managed to get through the first phase without too much trouble, but in the second phase, they were wiped out by various forces... It is said that the second phase of the "Abyss Watcher" is simply like a monster.

"I know, Leo, you should stay away."

Klaus, who had instructed Leo to stand further away, returned to the campfire for the first time when he was caught off guard in the second phase of the "Abyss Watcher" encounter, resulting in an instant kill that left him with no chance of survival... Although he cleared the game the second time after getting used to the process.

Klaus crossed his two greatswords into the shape of a giant cross and bowed to the formidable enemy before him, even though he was merely a character in a game... he was still a worthy admiration.

"Klaus V. Reinherz, the challenge is here again!"

Because I've recently become obsessed with Dark Souls and Link the Fire, and just finished my first playthrough, I felt compelled to share some personal thoughts in the recent content.

So the recent new chapter "Virtual Battle" is basically Dark Souls content. Readers who want to read Blood Blockade Battlefront but don't understand Dark Souls can wait a while and skip around. I will separate the content with titles. Not reading these won't affect the overall content later. This part of the story is just my personal preference.

In short, let me finish passing on the fire first!

Chapter 50 Virtual Warfare (Part Twelve)

The greatsword of Farron was engulfed in flames, and sparks from the fire that once burned it were scattered all over its body. Now, they were facing the "Watcher of the Abyss," the Lord of Cinder.

The Farron Undead Legion swore an oath of life and unity with the blood of wolves, and the power of the Lords of Cinder manifested itself as the Watcher of the Abyss charged forward, wielding the Farron Greatsword.

Klaus, who was rapidly retreating and dodging, was caught off guard when he first encountered the second phase of the "Abyss Watcher." The enemy's exaggerated speed of transformation and attack power instantly killed him.

In a split second, he dodged beneath the swiftly slashing Fran's greatsword. The lingering flames of the new star still danced before Klaus's eyes, giving him no time to pause or retaliate. The next moment, a terrifying three-stage slash came hurtling towards Klaus at the same time.

The Farron Undead Legion, now imbued with rational thought, are no longer dull puppets following the usual attack patterns. They possess the ability to rationally judge how to attack in order to completely kill their target, and their attacks are almost always designed to instantly kill their opponents by focusing on their weaknesses.

However, Klaus managed to deflect the "Abyss Watcher's" attack with his greatsword. Although he couldn't create a counterattack like he could with a shield, he used his superior skills to avoid all the damage. At the same time, he took the opportunity to deliver a heavy slash to the Lord of Cinder with his other greatsword.

The greatsword strike caused a moment of stun, and as is the rule of the game, it applies to both the player and the boss. Taking advantage of this crucial moment, Klaus slid around to the back and immediately delivered a greatsword execution to "Abyss Watcher".

Now that Dark Souls has become a virtual reality game, many of the familiar techniques have changed to some extent. For example, you can use attack weapons to parry, although the effect is only to nullify the damage you receive and will not create an opening for a direct kill. However, for some tough guys like Klaus in real life, this is still a useful technique.

Additionally, players are invincible during parry executions and backstabs. This might be negligible for newbies, but for Klaus... he takes care of each monster he's surrounded by by executing them one by one, making it as if he's invincible the whole time.

In short, after playing the game for a while, Klaus went from a complete novice (or pro) to a skilled player (or expert), which is truly commendable.

The "Abyss Watcher," who had been backstabbed and executed, suffered massive damage. After rationally assessing that Klaus's melee combat skills were extremely strong, the Lord of Cinder's next attack made Leo, who was standing nearby, exclaim that he was cheating!

The greatsword of Fran slashed down at the ground, unleashing a violent burst of fire pillars. Not only was Klaus instantly struck by three pillars of fire, but even Leo, who was in the corner of the room, had a third of his health burned off by the surging fire pillars.

"This is outrageous... This is practically cheating!"

Leo hastily drank a sip from an Elemental Bottle and began rolling around on the ground to dodge. As the saying goes, professional Dark Souls players who don't understand the attacks just roll around blindly, which is better than standing still and getting hit.

On the other side, Zapp, who had dodged the pillar of fire in the emergency, immediately grabbed his knife and slashed at "Abyss Watcher". Anyway, there was only this guy left in the second phase, so they could focus their fire on killing the BOSS first and win.

Just as he approached the range of the "Abyss Watcher," the fierce and swift Fran Greatsword slashed at Zapp with a triple warning strike. However, the delinquent man completely dodged the attack with an incredibly skillful sliding roll, his movements even smoother than Klaus's.

In a flash, he darted behind the Lord of Cinder, and Zapp delivered a dual-wielding backstab, saying smugly:

"After being killed so many times by that bastard at Firelink Shrine, even a pig would know to dodge attacks!"

After being slashed by Disheartened Bro, Zapp went through numerous near-death experiences before figuring out the bastard's tactics. Now, it just so happens that "Abyss Watcher's" swordsmanship follows the same pattern, and Zapp says he's completely adapted to it without any problems.

"Well done, Zapp!"

Klaus, who had been forced away by the pillar of fire, seized the opportunity to close in after interrupting the Abyss Watcher's attack. He immediately unleashed a double warning strike with his greatsword on the Lord of Cinder. The poor Farron Undead Legion captain had just been treacherously backstabbed by Zapp.

With Zapp's help, Klaus found the fight against "Abyss Watcher" much easier than last time. Even though he cleared the boss on his first try the second time, it took Klaus a lot of effort to dodge the dense flames and get close to attack.

As the saying goes, teammates are strength. When you can't get past a difficult boss, it's often much easier to team up with three gay guys than to try it alone. Of course, if you're a masochist, then just ignore what I said.

The situation became much simpler afterward, because with Zapp's backstab assistance, Klaus faced significantly less pressure from the Abyss Watcher, and his terrifying damage output landed one after another on the Lord of Cinder BOSS.

Leo, on the other hand, stayed close to the wall with his shield up the whole time. This newbie should just watch the pros fight the boss for him and not be greedy and rush up to finish off the boss with a backstab. It would be so embarrassing if he got killed by the boss's three-hit combo.

The second phase didn't take long. After Klaus and Zapp repeated the same process three or four times, the Lord of Cinder boss "Abyss Watcher" ran out of health and collapsed to the ground, completing the raid.

"Great, it's done!"

Seeing the notification that he had acquired his item, Leo breathed a sigh of relief. Considering the terrifying attack methods of the "Abyss Watcher," he was afraid he would never be able to beat the game if he were to fight it himself.

"Okay, next we need to help Zapp clear this hurdle. Stephen and Qian will be here soon."

The "Libra" group split up. Stephen and Qian Huang first went to conquer the "Church of the Deep". After helping Klaus find the route, the Church of the Deep was quickly conquered. The two of them then went back to conquer the Farron Fortress.

On the contrary, after defeating the Farron Undead Legion, Leo and Zapp immediately had to rush to defeat the "Crystal Elder" and then the "Deep Bishops" area bosses.

However, this is a relatively simple situation. After all, in the game Dark Souls, we won't comment on the most powerful bosses, but there are definitely only a few weakest bosses... The Crystal Sage, the Deep Archbishops, Lord Wolnir, and Lord Ocelothos.

When it comes to defeating bosses in Dark Souls, most players prepare information about the boss's weaknesses beforehand. However, there are a few exceptions... Most bosses are weak to fire, lightning, or dark, while these few are simply weak to these things.

Of course, Tyrant Warnir is an exception; he's weak to the bracelet...

Chapter 51 Virtual Warfare (Thirteen)

"Leo, I'm going to kill you!!"

"Ahem... Mr. Zapp, let's talk this out... Don't be impulsive!"

"what happened?"

In the Firelink Shrine, many figures appeared around the bonfire. Most of them had been invited by their favorite game companies to participate in the testing of their new games, but they never expected it to be such a hellish ordeal.

Most of the well-known Dark Souls players have now become hopeless and collapsed on the ground like salted fish, and there are also a few who were captured by "Allergy King" and the four people from "Libra".

Sitting by the campfire now is "The Wicked King" himself. After spending some time lighting the campfire at the Church of the Boreal Valley, Midoriya returned to Firelink Shrine to replenish his supplies. Then he saw Zapp and Leo. Zapp had a dark look on his face and looked like he wanted to kill someone.

"It's Mr. Midoriya..."

"Leo, you just wait, I'll chop you up when we get out of here!"

Looking at Leo, who was extremely embarrassed and trying hard to suppress his laughter, and then at Zapp's face with a look of utter dismay, even Izuku Midoriya became very curious. Could there really be a situation that would make Zapp show such a reaction?

The answer is yes, there really is... Then Midoriya understood why Zapp looked like he wanted to kill Leo.

"That bastard Leo tricked me by saying there was a beautiful goddess imprisoned in the 'Deep Cathedral,' making me waste so much time running around the map... and then... and then!!"

"Pfft... Isn't this fine too?"

Upon hearing this, Midoriya couldn't help but chuckle. There was indeed a genuine goddess in the "Church of the Deep," "Rosalia, the Mother of Rebirth"... However, the situation surrounding this goddess was somewhat unacceptable.

"What a load of rubbish! That thing down there is a maggot... Holy crap! My eyes have been blinded!!"

Zapp, who wanted to gouge his own eyes out and throw them into the campfire, wasn't saying that Rosalia, the Mother of Rebirth, wasn't beautiful... but the visual impact of a beautiful goddess holding a giant maggot almost made Zapp vomit on the spot.

Zapp felt his worldview shattered. His only thought now was to kill Leo, that bastard with the messy hair, once he got out. If that scoundrel had fooled him, Zapp wouldn't have run to Rosalia's bedroom, such a secret room, to leave.

"Ahem... Mr. Zapp, I am very sorry for doing such a thing, so now I will tell you an important piece of information again."

"Atop the church tower in Irithyll of the Valley of the Dead, a beautiful princess is imprisoned, waiting for someone to ascend into the air and pledge knighthood to her."

"Pah! You damned little brat with messy hair, if I ever believe you again, I'm a dog!!"

"Tsk... Fine, don't believe me then."

Leo, with an expression that says "believe it or not, it doesn't matter," has already said what he needed to say, and if he misses the beautiful scenery, it's none of his business.

"Speaking of which, Leo... I never knew you could be so cunning!"

Midoriya, who was whispering something in Leo's ear, was quite surprised to see that the boy was being unusually cunning and had made Zapp want to die.

"I'm really curious to know what Mr. Zapp's expression will be when he sees Rosalia, the Mother of Rebirth, with such anticipation."

"In short, I only want to say one thing... Well done!"

It was quite amusing to see Izuku Midoriya giving Leo a thumbs-up and encouraging look, and Zapp looking so dejected and wanting to die.

"Now I also want to know what kind of expression Mr. Zapp will have when he goes out after missing Yorshka?"

"I want to know too..."

In an instant, Midoriya and Leo reached a consensus and both decided to keep the information about Yorshka a secret, waiting to see what kind of amazing face Zapp would have when they went out later.

However, seeing Zapp's expression, as if he wanted to gouge his own eyes out, makes one feel that his SAN is almost zero.

Enough of the chit-chat. As for the well-known players who came to test Dark Souls, the Farron Undead Legion, the "Abyss Watcher," was a formidable obstacle. However, even this Lord of Cinder, whose strength was almost invincible, could not stop the righteous "Sun Knights" from backstabbing him.

After a few Dark Souls pros teamed up to clear "The Watcher of the Abyss," they continued exploring the map until they reached Irithyll in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, where they truly felt despair. Not to mention the three hounds on the bridge... these hounds are known in the game as the Hounds of Cinder, with incredibly high attack power that can instantly kill someone from full health in just two hits, and their attack frequency and speed are so fast that they make people grit their teeth in hatred.

Normally, most players would have to risk their lives several times to successfully kill a dog, but now there are three dogs on the bridge, and they are attacking at the same time, which is almost enough to make you want to die.

Fortunately, these hounds were boss-type monsters, and like regional bosses, they wouldn't respawn after being killed. So, the righteous "Sun Knight," with the help of his summoned teammates, successfully killed the three Lords of Cinder on the bridge by trading their lives for each other. They then arrived in the city streets of Irithyll of the Boreal Valley... and then...

"What the hell are you talking about?!"

When asked what caused the "Sun Knight's" furious outburst, one could see that the streets of Irithyll Valley were densely packed with papal knights and mages, roughly five to a row, patrolling back and forth like an impenetrable army.

He had tried to use "Sun Knight" at the time, but methods such as invisibility and mimicry to smuggle himself out had completely failed. Trying to parkour through the level to light the campfire was pure fantasy; it was simply a case of running towards death.

After risking his life to investigate the situation, he learned that there were no more than ten Pope Knights at the time, from the Boreal Valley to the Church of Yorshka's bonfire, but now there were nearly a hundred. The "Sun Knight" did not give up hope and tried various methods, such as asking his teammates to help him navigate the map.

Using a reliable bow and arrow to lure the monsters over, I'm sorry, but it seems that the five Papal Knights in a group are coming together now, because the composition is two Papal Knights with shields, two Papal Knights with curved swords, and one knight using fire magic.

Although it looked rather scary, "Sun Knight" initially thought he could handle it, so he called his friend to come out and play the game together. But... damn it, now it even has an alarm function?

After the archers lured the monsters into battle, the two scimitar-wielding Papal Knights immediately charged in with their swords, while the "Sun Knight" used his shield to draw aggro. Meanwhile, the mage teammate was charging up a powerful attack to instantly kill the magic knight. Suddenly, the two shield-wielding Papal Knights pulled out horns from their waists and blew them… The next moment, hundreds of Papal Knights surrounded and attacked the Ashen Ones who had come to link the fire.

It can't be passed on... This fire can't be passed on... The Sun Knight gave up thinking... This is no longer a game that humans can beat.

After learning the devastating news about Irithyll of the Valley, most players who hadn't even completed the "Abyss Watcher" questline simply gave up and became complete casuals, deeming the game unplayable.

In addition, Klaus has already lit a bonfire at the Church of Yorshka. Although the defense of this map is much tighter, for this greatsword warrior who uses Execution Invincibility as a normal attack, he used the protection of Execution Invincibility to execute each religious knight one by one, and finally completed the feat of assassinating his way to the bonfire.

PS (Author's Note): I died no less than twenty times at the Reservoir Duo, but I finally mastered the technique to kill those two wicked dogs!

Chapter 52 Virtual Warfare (XIV)

Overlord Wolnir, who was mentioned not long ago as one of the weakest bosses in Dark Souls, is not to say that this area's boss is really weak. His massive size and the abyss space still have a very terrifying intimidating presence. However, this boss has completely exposed his weakness to the ashes. In the pitch-black area, the three bracelets that emit a dazzling light are really eye-catching.

Even Leo didn't bother calling for help this time. Carrying the "Wanderer's Greatsword" that he had recently enhanced and forged, he ran over without saying a word and started hacking at the bracelet of Overlord Wolnir. With just a few strikes, the BOSS lost a third of its health. Then Leo turned his sinister gaze to the two golden bracelets on his right hand.

"I knew it! For a veteran Dark Souls player like me, defeating bosses is still quite easy."

Having regained his confidence after defeating Lord Wolnir, Leo triumphantly passed through the Catacombs of Carthus and arrived at the next area, Irithyll in the Boreal Valley. The city, shrouded in ice crystals, looked incredibly beautiful from the cliff top—one of the few scenic views in Dark Souls. However, once you actually entered the city, it was a completely different story...

Leo lit the campfire on the cliff and hesitated as he looked at the bridge leading to the city of Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. Although there seemed to be no obstacle on this road, a giant crocodile covered in fur, or rather, a dog-like monster, was lurking there, nicknamed the Dog King by Dark Souls players.

Legend has it that a terrifying monster, capable of taking half your blood with a single bite and killing you instantly with just a couple of grazes, guards the bridge. While you can actually speed up and run into the Irithyll Valley the first time you encounter this bridge-guarding monster because a barrier prevents it from entering, if you jump over this hairy dog monster, you'll meet it in the pool below, a place you'll inevitably pass through. That's when things will truly leave you heartbroken.

Leo was determined to get rid of the hairy dog here, and he heard that the hairy dog seemed to be full of malice. There were three of them on the bridge, and he wondered if the two in the reservoir had also been captured.

Currently, Klaus is leading the charge in conquering Libra, having already defeated Aldrich, the Lord of Cinder in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, and is now heading towards the City of Sin to conquer the area of Yhorm the Giant.
