Now, even a small knife would be enough for him to slit its throat; in that case, a brick would be even more effective.

Although it's just a thought, by the time that happens, the zombies ahead would have already arrived.

He suddenly felt annoyed. Why did this mess have to happen? He should have kept his weapon with him at all times.

He then turned and yelled at Hayato Hayama, "I'll distract them. We can't let them into the school. You guys get inside right now!"

However, he said that the group had already scrambled into the school, and the girl clinging to Hayama Hayato was very loyal, pulling him along with her before they ran away.

"Wait..." Hayama Hayato turned his head to the left as if a stone or a lead weight was hanging heavily on his body, calling out, "Yumiko!"

Uesugi Genshin approached Hayama Hayato and stabbed down another zombie that was charging at him, then looked at the people on his left.

Unaware of what was amiss, they stood there bewildered, awaiting the outcome of what had turned into a writing debate or argument.

If you haven't made up your mind, then don't come out!

What are you hesitating to say while standing on the highway?!

The followers are wrong, but the leader deserves to die.

The horde of zombies split the crowd in two. No matter how much Uesugi Genshin stabbed, the zombies would struggle violently to their feet the moment they lost their balance and fell to the ground.

He never expected that zombies would be so troublesome in this situation.

Thanks to his usual good relationships, Hayama Hayato was pulled back with great force.

Upon hearing that Uesugi Genshin intended to act as bait, they quickly closed the school gates, leaving only a crack.

Uesugi Genshin wanted to praise their swift action, a genuine commendation. They weren't even in the preliminary preparation stage yet, and he wasn't expecting them to play any significant role; that was for the future.

"Ah!!!" The group finally noticed something was wrong.

"Yumiko!" Hayato Hayama was about to climb over the school gate.

"I go."

Uesugi Genshin charged in that direction, forcefully stabbing the back of the head through a gap on the side, and overtaking the zombies that were rushing forward.

After being knocked down to the left, they quickly set their sights on the living people in front of them.

The group standing there was like a cabbage that had been torn apart; those on the outer circle quickly fled, passing by the three people in the center completely unaware.

"Huh?! Why should I listen to what you're saying?!" said the red-haired girl, who was arguing fiercely.

"You bastard, do you know how much trouble you've caused Hayato?" Miura Yumiko retorted sharply, showing no sign of backing down.

"You two, calm down." Yui Yuigahama tried timidly to pull the two apart.

Were they completely oblivious as the group of people passed by, engrossed in their own world?

"You might as well just die out there, we won't care about you anymore."

"Who cares what you do!" She shook off Miura Yumiko's hand.

The red-haired girl is Sagami, the "leader" of another group of girls in their class. She doesn't usually get along with Miura Yumiko and the others; it's a classic case of two tigers not being able to share the same mountain.

The two women already didn't get along, and now they were arguing like oil and water.

Even as Uesugi Genshin approached, they still did not react.

"Hey, you guys, stop arguing."

"What..." Miura Yumiko turned her head to look at the person who had run over and made the sound, but her eyes were focused on what was behind that person.

"Yui!" She grabbed Yui Yuigahama with one hand and Minami Sagami with the other.

"Let go!" Sagami Minami took this as an act of forcibly pulling her.

"Idiot, run!" Miura Yumiko forcefully pulled the two of them away.

Sagami Minami turned around in confusion, and what she saw made the hand that Miura Yumiko was holding tremble.

The action of being pulled along turned into running for one's life.

"Run around the school." Behind them, Uesugi Genshin kept a few meters away, watching out for any approaching zombies he could knock down.

A straight thrust with a long weapon is much faster than using one's feet.

Miura Yumiko, Yuigahama Yui, and Sagami Minami were near the corner when they turned left, heading towards the north side of the school.

Looking ahead from the T-junction, the group of people who had scattered were running in a panic, not thinking about going back to school, but instead running straight ahead. Were they trying to run home?!

Zongwu High School only has two main gates, one on the east and one on the south, but it also has several smaller gates, one of which is located on the playground.

It's called "Small Gate" because it's small—a wooden fence about a leg's height. There's a gate here, probably because there's a road in front of it, or a T-junction.

Yumiko Miura held onto Yui Yuigahama's hand tightly, while Minami Sagami started running on her own.

Then a boy appeared in my field of vision, running out of the T-junction, followed by a group of zombies jumping over the small gate of the playground, like pulling a train.

It really looks like a locomotive! But the zombie cargo box behind it crashed at the small door.

He wasn't alone, but the people around him didn't follow; they dispersed to either side of the road.

The three of them, with the zombies watching them closely behind, ran towards Miura Yumiko and her friends.

Clearly, they haven't yet realized why someone is running towards them; they'll understand once they think about it.

Then they saw Uesugi Genshin emerge from around the corner behind Miura Yumiko, accompanied by a group of zombies.

At that moment, Uesugi Genshin saw them, but it was too late.

He followed her because he was afraid there would be zombies in front of Miura Yumiko, but he never expected this scene.

"!" Uesugi Genshin was stunned for less than a second before shouting at Miura Yumiko and the others, whose pace was gradually slowing down, "Climb over the fence and climb into the school."

The fence at Soubu High School is less for preventing thieves and more for marking territory. It is about two meters high, and even girls can climb over it with some effort.

It is also very light and very thin, which makes one worry about its sturdiness, and one wonders if it will fall over if kicked. Of course, it won't.

The base of the fence is a sloping brick and stone foundation about half a leg high.

Upon hearing Uesugi Genshin's words, the two groups quickly climbed towards the fence just before they were about to merge.

The girl's movements wouldn't be too reckless. That being said, Sagami Minami jumped and grabbed the top, causing the net to sway instantly.

The boy's movements were very rough; the force of his jumping slammed against the fence, and he scrambled over it.

This caused the fence to shake violently, which made Minami Sagami grip the grid tightly with her fingers, while Yumiko Miura slid down, grabbing the fence and her school uniform shoes hitting the stone surface.

As they climbed over and were about to run towards the special building, Uesugi Genshin had already reached Miura Yumiko's side.

There's no point in stopping them anymore; just sandwich the cheese between the two buns.

"Hurry up and go up there."

"I understand!" Miura Yumiko said, quickly turning her head to look at Sagami Minami, who had climbed halfway up the mountain, and then at Uesugi Genshin, whose back was to her.

Uesugi Genshin looked around, gripping the stick in front of his chest with both hands, observing the zombies on both sides.

Fifteen meters, ten meters...

At this moment, his mind was completely blank; how could he possibly defend himself?

Being caught in a pincer movement is the most troublesome situation, and therefore, defeat is to be expected.

So he turned around and looked at Sagami Minami, who was standing in the middle, and pushed her up.

"What...?" She jumped over the fence and fell heavily onto the grass in the schoolyard, her short skirt flipped up to reveal her red underwear, looking utterly disheveled.

At this point, don't worry about getting hurt; saving your life is the most important thing.

Seeing that Miura Yumiko and Yuigahama Yui had climbed halfway up, they were about to push them up, but the zombies were already very close.

"Stop climbing..." With a sigh in his heart, Uesugi Genshin pulled them down.

He overestimated their speed. After all, he could easily flip over that height with a simple push of his hand, or at least use his feet to gain leverage. However, they were still quite focused on flipping over properly.

That's true. Even at two meters tall, if you fall headfirst into the ground with the wrong posture, you can still suffer from hemiplegia.

This tall zombie could easily scratch him, and he wouldn't stay here to guard them and wait for them to climb over; that would put himself in unexpected danger.

He let out a long sigh, releasing his slight frustration, and then called out to them, "Come to the other side of the road."

This is a two-lane road, separated by a narrow green belt in the middle, with Chiba University's sports field on the other side.

Uesugi Genshin used his left hand to push the bottom of the stick for support, while his right hand held it loosely for guidance. The tip of the stick accurately stabbed the head of the zombie on the right. Then, the tip of the stick turned into the bottom, and his left hand quickly gripped the bottom, stabbing the zombie on the left.

After swatting away the zombies on both sides, ignoring the fact that there were only three meters left to the left and right, he charged straight to the front.

As long as there are no obstacles in front, the zombies behind will never be able to catch up with the humans in terms of speed.

"..." Miura Yumiko grasped Yuigahama Yui's hand, their bodies pressed tightly together, and followed closely behind Uesugi Genshin as he swung to create a safe space and rushed across the road.

"Yui." She looked at Sagami Minami, who was stumbling and running inside, and pulled Yui to follow Uesugi Genshin.

"Hahaha..." Yui Yuigahama gasped for breath. The running had already exhausted her enough, and her protruding breasts heaved even more.

They lacked human intelligence, Uesugi Genshin confirmed once again, focusing only on the road ahead that led them to gather on one side of Sobu High, while the other side had almost no zombies.

He looked to both sides, where zombies were still pouring out of the T-junction. He wondered where they came from, perhaps from the university.

The intersection on the right was relatively clean, at least there were no zombies appearing on its left side.

He turned right and, staying on the side teeming with zombies, pushed back any zombies that might try to cross the road.

He kept looking back to see if the two people behind him were keeping up, and it seemed they were.

He soon arrived at the T-junction. He looked left and right, then turned right back to the school's main gate. Just then, two zombies saw him and lunged at him.

The left side was much safer, and then Miura Yumiko made the choice for him. She saw zombies on the right and ran to the left.

Shaking his head, Uesugi Genshin swept down the zombie on his right and then walked to the left.

He followed behind Miura Yumiko, his steps matching their pace as he moved forward.

"Ok?"

"I've been looking for you for a long time, my partner. Let's continue our master-servant relationship for hundreds of years to come. This is also the arrangement of the Great Bodhisattva Hachiman."

His massive frame, weighing at least 200 pounds, blocked the way ahead, and he immediately turned his back to Hachiman Hikigaya in the dimly lit corridor where sunlight couldn't penetrate.

"Hmm... Timber stand, what are you doing here?"

"Hmph! People's hearts have changed so much. I miss the days when samurai fought for their beliefs during the Muromachi period. You think so too, my comrade."

"So you came out to check the situation because you had no ideas?"

After all, I don't have any friends to talk to, and I guess I'm actually this guy's friend.

Most people's phones are probably dead, really, who would bring their phone charger to school?

"Not at all! Hachiman, lend me your strength! Hoo hoo hoo, let's do what we used to do, together! And once again rule the world!"

"Alright, alright, then you can come with me," Hachiman Hikigaya said helplessly.

I couldn't bear to see him all alone, huddled in a corner all by himself. Even he has Komachi by his side.

“Following... that’s not impossible. I’ll leave things here to you, my partner.” Yoshiteru Zaimokuza pushed up his square glasses as if he had breathed a sigh of relief.

"Alright, let's talk about the timber frame."

"What's wrong, Hachiman?"

Do you know where Yukinoshita is?

"That woman?!" Yoshiteru Zaimokuza was startled at first, then shook his head: "I don't know."

"Never mind, let's look for it." Hachiman Hikigaya then started searching with the wood frame.

Chapter 43: Calming Down

I could hear the sound of snow just as I reached the classroom door.

"Because I have confidence in myself, if everyone does their own thing and avoids making ignorant mistakes."

"Then I will make the best arrangements, which I am actually doing now, and time will prove me right."

"I guarantee your lives and the safety of the General Staff High School, and that we will get through this disaster safely."

Hachiman Hikigaya stood in front of the classroom door, listening to Yukino Yukinoshita's voice from inside the room, with Yoshiteru Zaimokuza standing behind him.
