On June 4th, the Adventurers' Guild issued an urgent mission to clean up the meteorite, initiating the "Never-Returning Extinct Star" quest, marking Fischl and Oz's first appearance. Han Fulai, Fischl, Mona, and Yingmei formed a four-person investigation team to investigate the drowsy symptoms caused by the meteorite in Clearspring Town. Fischl believed it was the "curse of the Snow Mountain Demon."

On June 5th, the four received a request from Adeline, the head maid of "Dawn Winery," to go to Stonegate Town to rescue the winery's winemakers. On the way, they encountered the Fools stealing meteorite fragments. The sixth seat of the Fools' executive, "Scattered Soldiers," made his first appearance.

That night, the group found the Book of Mountains and Seas left by the adventurer Leonard two thousand years ago in the Mondstadt Library. Mona divined that the "Pointed Hat Peak" in the book is now "Musk Reef".

On June 6, Fischl parted ways with the others. Before leaving, Han Fulai and Mona secretly met with Oz, revealing Fischl's identity as a demon god's servant and raising various suspicious points about Fischl. Oz admitted that Fischl was ordered by the wind god Barbatos to guide the group to "Musk Reef".

Han Fulai, Mona, and Yingmei landed on "Musk Reef" and encountered "Skirmishers." The "Skirmishers" claimed that "the starry sky itself is a giant lie" before leaving. The concept of "False Heaven" officially emerged.

Han Fulai deduced that the information the "scatterers" read from the meteorite was different from what they had seen, which led to the introduction of the wind god Barbatos (i.e. Wendy).

Later, during a conversation with Wendy, they learned about the "False Heaven" and "Predestined Fate," realizing that the fate of humanity across Teyvat was being controlled by the Sky Isles, and that Wendy, as a "rebel," wanted to break the "Predestined Fate." Wendy instructed the two to search for the history of Abedor and the Lawrence family, and Han Fulai was gifted the artifact "Starry Wings."

The mission to extinguish the stars that did not return has ended.

On June 7th, Yingmei left Mondstadt for Liyue, and Han Fulai gifted her the "Inteyvat" left behind by Kongge in the Lava Rift. On the same day, Han Fulai and Mona went to the Knights of Favonius, where Jean, Kaeya, and Lisa made their official debut, and Noelle made her first appearance. Mona became a library assistant, and Han Fulai received a warning from Lisa not to pry into the secrets of the Sky Isle. Han Fulai and Jean discussed the "Teyvat Community of Fate" plan and reached a preliminary agreement on cooperation.

On June 8th, Yura was assigned to be in charge of security for the VIPs of Liyue, becoming "Han Fulai's personal bodyguard," accompanying Han Fulai to Dragonridge Mountain, thus beginning a romantic comedy in Mondstadt.

On June 10th, Han Fulai and Yura arrived at the Dragonspine Adventurer Camp, where Amber and Sugar made their first appearance. Han Fulai discovered that Sugar's ultimate goal in her bio-alchemy research was "creating a world." At the camp, a young boy named Joel hoped someone could help him find his father, Joseph, who hadn't returned from the mountain expedition. Han Fulai decided to help Joel, and Yura's impression of Han Fulai changed.

On the same morning, the Adventurers' Guild organized a rescue operation for Bennett, who had gone missing in the snowy mountains.

Sugar leads the group to the lab to find Abedo, where they encounter a fake Abedo (later called "Young Abedo") wielding the Corruption Sword and committing violence. They then encounter the pursuing Abedo. On the way to the lab, they unexpectedly rescue Bennett, who is buried in a snowdrift.

Han Fulai saw through Abedo's attempt to cover up Abe's secrets, and the two became friends after a frank conversation. At the same time, Yura also noticed Abedo's weakness, so Han Fulai invited Yura to join the plan to capture Abe.

That afternoon, Amber and Bennett went down the mountain first, but were caught in an avalanche and failed. Abedo revealed the secret of his origins to Han Fulai and Yura. Han Fulai then realized that Wendy wanted to replace the natural order with artificial "Primordial Beings".

That night, Abedo hoped that Han Fulai would help him deceive Yura and let Abedo go. Han Fulai unexpectedly saw Yura taking a bath (crossed out), and unexpectedly saw Yura dancing alone under the moon and fell in love with her.

On June 11, Han Fulai, Yura, and Abedo ambushed the dragon Dulin at the heart of "Sleeping Dragon Valley," defeating the Fools' squad that had followed them and finally killing the dragon Dulin. Abedo achieved the third stage of alchemy, "Crimson Achievement."

Abe Shao caused an avalanche to attack everyone, and then impersonated Abedo to go down the mountain with everyone, but was seen through by Yura. Han Fulai and Abedo worked together to kill "Abe Shao" (who was actually a decoy created by Abedo for his brother to fool Hua).

That night, the Adventurers' Guild found the missing adventurer Joseph. Han Fu saw through the deception and, after talking with Abedo, decided to have Abedo pretend to be Joseph from then on.

On June 15, Han Fulai and Yura returned to Mondstadt, and Kaeya proposed "Let Lawrence investigate Lawrence".

Qin met with Han Fulai, offering economic cooperation between the two countries as a condition for his help in eliminating the Fools' forces within Mondstadt, and reaching a consensus on a joint effort between the two countries.

That evening, Yura met her uncle Schubert, who proposed a marriage between Yura and a high-ranking member of the Winter's End, which Yura refused. Later, Yura encountered Rosalia at the Cat's Tail Tavern and was comforted by her. (Rosalia and Diona make their first appearance.)

Yura seeks help and decides to have Han Fulai pretend to be her fiancé. (Mona witnesses the whole thing and submits it to the Fontaine newspaper.)

The Legend of Yura questline is now available.

On June 16, the Mondstadt Badminton Festival opened, and Barbara made her debut.

Yura trains Han Fulai in aristocratic etiquette and awards him the CMG Knight Medal (fake). That evening, the two watch Linnie and Linette's magic show and are invited to participate in the magic show "Love," sparking their first rumors of a romance.

Schubert met with the Fools and was kidnapped by them that night.

On June 17, Han Fulai and Mona investigated the history of Mondstadt and discovered the connection between the progenitor of Lawrence, Vanillari, and the Time Ruler, as well as the existence of the Time Ruler belief in Mondstadt, which was later covered up by Wendy for various reasons.

On the same day, Yura discovers that her uncle has been kidnapped and asks Mona to help her divine the location of the Fools. Han Fulai deduces that the Fools kidnapped Schubert in order to find the secret of the "Temple of a Thousand Winds". They then ask Xiao Shangxian for help and, together with Yura, head to the "Gate of the Eagle" to rescue Schubert.

Within the secret realm, the three encounter Diluc, the "Hero of the Night," and Ylock in a fierce battle. Han Fulai intervenes, killing Ylock, the former Inspector General and traitor to the Knights of Favonius, and persuades Schubert to "offer his head as an uncle." Schubert secretly writes a letter to the Lawrence family requesting cooperation with Liyue, while simultaneously announcing in public that Yura will be expelled from the Lawrence family.

On his way back to the city, Han Fulai received a message from Wendy asking him to help retrieve the Sky Harp from the church.

That night, Han Fulai and Kaiya witnessed the conflict between the Mondstadt citizens and the Lawrence family. Han Fulai realized that his scheme to have Yura expelled from the family had actually hurt Yura, and he resolved to make amends.

The Legend of Yura quest has ended.

On June 18th, Han Fulai went to the Knights and met Calvin, the acting archbishop of the Church of the West Wind. Kaya told Han Fulai that this man was the father of Iloc.

On the same day, Han Fulai was awarded the title of "Honorary Knight" by the Order of Mondstadt, enjoying the treatment of "Old Friend of the People of Mondstadt," and proposed to participate in the badminton festival with Kaeya and Amber, making Yura the "Badminton Festival Princess."

The leader of the troupe, Qin, misunderstands that Han Fulai is in love with Yura and orders Kaiya to assist him.

The badminton festival begins.

On June 19, Han Fulai met with Amber and Kaiya. Amber told Han Fulai that Yura might be "acting real" towards him, and Han Fulai decided to "reject her despite being moved".

That afternoon, Han Fulai participated in the preliminary round of the "Poetry Recitation" competition at the Badminton Festival, winning with a Shakespearean masterpiece and promoting Yura with a sonnet from the "To My Fair Lord" series. Yura secretly listened in and was deeply moved, presenting him with a homemade "Havoc Pie" and inviting him to the "Angel's Gift" bar.

That evening, Han Fulai discussed the "Mondstadt Saintess" plan with Yura. Yura agreed to become the "Badminton Festival Princess" and stated that she would not take her relationship with Han Fulai too seriously—this was a lie. Han Fulai spent 3.8 million Mora that night.

On June 20th, Han Fulai met with Mona and, through the works of Lisa and other witches, perceived the truth of the world, discussing how to investigate the operating principles of the "False Heaven." Han Fulai suggested that Mona conduct experiments to test whether "consciousness can determine matter."

On June 24th, the finals of the three major badminton tournaments took place. Han Fulai achieved the feat of defeating seventeen opponents in a row to become the Poet Laureate, Amber became the Flying Champion, and Kaia became the Mondstadt Wine Champion.

On June 25, Han Fulai was invited by Barbara to the West Wind Church to discuss a joint concert at the closing ceremony of the badminton festival, and at the same time, he lent out the "Sky Harp".

In the afternoon, Han Fulai and Yura met Wendy, who used "Didi Dalong" to summon Dvalin to lead the two to the "Temple of a Thousand Winds".

That night on the nameless island, Han Fulai and Yura experienced a dream trial together. Wendy revealed the secret of "The White Princess and the Six Dwarfs" and decided to let Han Fulai go to Sky Island in the future.

Afterwards, Wendy helped Han Fulai strengthen the power of the Word of Power and also gave Yura the complete "Ice Seal".

On June 26, Han Fulai, along with Yura and Wendy, encountered a group of thieves extorting Sister Giliana on their way back, and realized that this was a scheme orchestrated by Kaia.

Kaia explained to Han Fulai that four years ago, his adoptive father, Kripps, died at the hands of the Fools, and that Ilock and his son were accomplices.

That night, Han Fulai used the name of the Wind God to eliminate Bishop Calvin and also thwarted the "Doctor's" conspiracy.

On June 29th, in the morning, Han Fulai met with Abedo again. Abedo informed Han Fulai of the connection between the Ice Queen and the Time Ruler, and agreed to become a visiting researcher at the Liyue Academy of Arts.

That same afternoon, Mona reported the experimental results to Han Fulai, and the two finally determined the operating principle of the "False Sky." Han Fulai made a deal with Mona, asking her to help him manipulate the "False Sky" once when necessary.

On June 30th, at noon, Han Fulai specifically requested that Yura attend the Knights' state banquet and economic consultations between the two countries. This marked the first time a descendant of the Lawrence family had appeared on the Mondstadt political stage since their expulsion.

At the closing ceremony of the badminton festival, Yura launched a surprise attack on Han Fulai, who was shocked to realize that she was the real "Badminton Festival Princess".

Yura performed a ritual dance in public, and the wind god Barbatos descended and manifested himself, recognizing Yura as a follower of the wind god and bestowing upon her a blessing. Thus, Yura earned the title of "Saintess of Mondstadt" and finally possessed the capital to restore Lawrence's glory.

That night, Yura experienced her first time in the Knights' dormitory.

The Mondstadt chapter is over.

II. Plot and Character Related

Volume 4 features Yura as the main character, and she is the only female character to appear in all four volumes. Mona has the second most screen time, appearing in three volumes due to her connections to the "False Heaven" and the "Witch's Guild." However, I don't plan to make her the main character; her relationship with Han is more of a flirtatious friendship, given her academic background.

Yura is actually a very easy woman to handle, not in terms of personality, but in terms of grasping her main contradiction. Her main contradiction lies in social acceptance—as a descendant of Lawrence, she has never gained social acceptance in Mondstadt throughout her life.

The key point is that Yura would never kill Jean and become the leader herself, and the two of them are good friends despite being rivals.

This determines that Yura will always be a tragic figure in the original work, and her plot will always be detached from the main storyline, including her status in the Knights Order, which is also "guerrilla".

The pinnacle of her life might be becoming the deputy head of the troupe in ten or twenty years, spending her life assisting Qin, and she will never be able to gain popularity among the public.

The only thing that could help her restore Lawrence's glory was divine authority, nothing else.

That's why Han finally thought of the way to help Yura: by becoming a "saintess," because only this title could turn a village girl into a hero.

Mona, on the other hand, is a character with inherent mystery-solving abilities in the original work. As a prophet, she possesses a wealth of information that allows her to see the future, so it would be unreasonable for her not to be included in the main storyline.

Besides the two of them, there are actually two male characters who dominate the main storyline: Wendy and Kaeya.

If you look closely, you'll find that these two people are behind all the major events Han experienced in Mondstadt.

Venti is a god of Mondstadt, so it's only natural that he would mentor Hancock, given their agreement. Everything Hancock experiences in Mondstadt is actually orchestrated by Venti, such as guiding him to find Aldebaran and Mondstadt's history, and sending him to retrieve the Sky Harp – this should be obvious to everyone.

Another shadow is Kaeya. I don't know if any readers would think of that if I didn't mention it, but if you think back, you'll realize—

The first person in the Knights to seriously interact with Han was actually Kaia; it was also Kaia who recommended Yura to be his bodyguard; it was Kaia who had Lawrence investigate Lawrence; it was Kaia who sent Rosalia to comfort Yura; and it was Kaia who ultimately helped Han win the badminton championship and even asked him to help kill the church's archbishop...

Since the Grand Master took all the Knights' horses away, Kaeya couldn't just stand there staring at the stables, so he had to cause trouble every day, lol.

Of course, to put it seriously, after the Grand Master's expedition, who was the true guardian of Mondstadt? The answer is Kaeya. That's the reason why the Grand Master took all the cavalry with him, leaving only a lone captain in the city. Look how much trouble he can cause even without troops; I can't even imagine what he could do if he still had Mondstadt's strongest cavalry under his command.

After Kaiya discovered the connection between Han and Barbatos, he began using Han, this "foreign force," to do things he had wanted to do but couldn't before.

In terms of strategic thinking, if Venti is Tier 0 in Mondstadt, then Kaeya is a Tier 1 in his own tier, currently slightly higher than Xiao Han's. Kaeya is the kind of guy whose actions, described in 500 words, would require Xiao Han to spend 50,000 words figuring out what he's up to...

Jean and Diluc, these two young "acting captains," are basically the kind of people who would help count the money even after being sold out by Kaeya.

Look at them, both wanted to avenge Cripps, but Diluc foolishly became Batman, making himself invisible, while Kaeya quietly climbed all the way up to the third-ranking leader in the Knights of Fame, finally accumulating enough resources to take revenge.

If you look at another example, both wanting to reform the church, Qin is hindered at every turn and can't move forward. Kaiya directly found a guy named Han who has the backing of two great gods and can say "I don't eat beef" to make a deal.

On the surface, it's Han who changes Mondstadt, but in reality, it's Kaeya who changes Mondstadt.

Leader Jean doesn't actually make decisions with words; it's Kaiya, who has connections in both the legitimate and criminal worlds and controls intelligence networks and public opinion, who gets the real influence.

Mondstadt's tradition is that the apparent Grand Master is not the true Grand Master; the true leader is the young wolf Rustin from 500 years ago and the young wolf Kaeya from 500 years later.

In fact, the two characters that miHoYo did the best in Mondstadt are Venti and Kaeya. They can be seamlessly integrated into my story without me having to dig into various details and think of various ways to patch them up. Writing them was the easiest time for me.

When it comes to changing Mondstadt, this is actually the most important point of the Mondstadt chapter – what exactly needs to be changed in Mondstadt?

The people's living standards are high; there are no disasters, diseases, or famines.

The happiness index of the people is determined by the fact that the entire population is influenced by religious beliefs.

The military government and the Knights Order monopolized the path to advancement, but the hunters of Clear Spring Town and the tenant farmers of Dawn Winery felt that they had lost out because their father hadn't followed the Wind God into the pass. Helping the knights grow ironclad crops wasn't considered oppression, and the leader of the Regalia was even willing to help them find cats.

The fact that its hunters, fruit vendors, and aspiring adventurers could all become the "Four Heavenly Kings of Wine" shows that they could actually earn money for wine while working.

It doesn't seem to understand the point of industrialization. It says there's no difference between plowing with oxen and plowing with tractors; Fengshen has been fooling you all along...

Unlike other countries, it doesn't clearly distinguish between two worlds on a map. Liyue has Scarlet Cloud Slope and Tiger Rock, Inazuma has Narukami Island and Hyakki Island, Sumeru has rainforest and desert, Fontaine has above-ground and underground, but Mondstadt is just a pastoral idyll no matter where you go. (Of course, this is probably because miHoYo didn't have time to make the distinction at the time.)

Of course, there were all sorts of corruption and inequalities in Mongol, but in terms of the fact that no one starved to death, it was a golden age that history books would praise.

Look at the miners in Liyue, the farmers in Inazuma—they all turn to treasure hunting and sea monster raiding because they can't afford to eat. But here in Mondstadt, treasure hunting is a real career. Remember that Mondstadt treasure hunting group in Stratorock that sold fake medicine? They actually became treasure hunters just to find a platform to hone their alchemy skills.

And then there's Gianna, who can switch to being a nun if she doesn't want to do it anymore, and who can even say that the freedom of being a hoarder isn't real freedom, and that true freedom only exists in Mondstadt.

This shows that they weren't forced into becoming a treasure-hunting group by the evil old society of Mondstadt!

Those who commit evil deeds and go down a dark path may be born evil, while those with a conscience, like Rosalia, would be recruited and given a government job by the Church of the West Wind...

So now you know how free the beacon of Mondstadt is?

There is no internal motivation for reform. As long as they can make ends meet, they will continue to uphold the British tradition of "glorious isolation."

Think of the rednecks of the 1980s, who could lie back and enjoy life thanks to God Blessing Mondstadt. They had time to hold carnivals all year round, including the Windflower Festival, the Badminton Festival, and the Wine Festival.

The Gunnhild family, and Jean Grey, are all guided by the principle of protection—protecting their existing lives, rather than creating new ones. Everything they do is essentially about "maintaining stability and preserving the status quo."

What could possibly spur such a change in Mondstadt? Only external pressure, either an invasion by the Eight-Nation Alliance or MAGA.

Lawrence oppressed them for a thousand years. What made the Mondstadt people overthrow Lawrence? The idea of freedom? No way.

—It's a secret pact with the wind at your back, the foreigners from Liyue are about to attack! When that happens, it'll be "first-class Liyue, second-class Mondstadt," are you guys willing?

Therefore, only the fools who slapped Barbatos could serve as the driving force for this reform.

That's why, after conducting research in Mondstadt for a month, what Xiao Han presented to persuade these people was that "the Winter People are about to attack." How could our 2,600-year-old Mondstadt Eagle Banner accept multiple Winter Peoples above our heads?

This means that Mondstadt has only one path: the national route.

Tell them that everything will be alright once the Winter Kingdom is defeated.

III. Miscellaneous Writings

Actually, writing the Mondstadt chapter was very tiring, as it involved a lot of complex and diverse cultural backgrounds.

Greek mythology, Christianity, the Holy Roman Empire, Prussia, the Celts, England, France, Germany, the Netherlands... We've already written a lot about these in the article, so I won't go into detail here.

In addition, since it is the first country to be launched in Genshin Impact, and also the country with the most foreshadowing in the original work, various clues are hidden in artifacts, weapon stories, books, and architectural patterns and totems, and they are all fragmented. It is very difficult to connect all these things into a timeline.

But I still finished the job, and in fact, I prepared much more than I wrote down.

For example, the story of the Lone King in the Tower 2,600 years ago, the ancient kingdom of Fendnir and Imroca, the legacy of the Dawn Knights of the Legonfend family, the story of the wandering band 1,000 years ago, the story of the thief and the witch of the gun, and the story of Eberhardt, etc. We have mentioned these things as background in the text, but in fact, they could be taken out and written into some long chapters.

However, none of these things are related to the trip to Han Mengde, so we haven't written about them in detail.

However, I was still deeply moved when I was collecting this information. Genshin Impact's ambition is indeed very big. It is really trying to create an "open world", a world with its own history, geography, and politics. Every piece of furniture in it can actually be traced back to cultural heritage in its design - such as the various emblems of the Knights of Favonius and the Church that we mentioned in the article, the banner of pure souls, the sword and shield emblem representing divine and political power, and so on.

These are all part of creating a sense of realism.

In the context of the three elements of a novel, this is the element besides characters and story: setting.

As longtime readers may know, much of my work in this fanfiction involves showcasing a country's environment, not just its geography, but also its social environment and social landscape.

The environment can change people; a person's growth is related to their environment.

Why is Mondstadt the way it is? It's clearly a feudal state with a military aristocracy and various landlord manors, so how come it's a free country? Why don't the people of Mondstadt rebel?

—Because its environment is free from natural disasters and food shortages, and it boasts fertile land and a sparse population, the farmers and hunters of Qingquan Town will not have their land taken over, so there's no need for them to rebel…

It has only fought three major wars in its 2,600-year history, has a single belief system, and its society has always been harmonious and stable. The people have surplus grain and hold many parties every year.

What kind of earthly divine kingdom is this?
